Staff Training (What It's Like to be a Camp Counselor)

- Staff Training summed up in one video... but we actually had it for a week and half and the campers some tomorrow! I'm stoked because I'm the counselor of a cabin of 14 and 15 year old girls! I won't be blogging this first week just so that I can feel it out and get settled, but hopefully as the summer goes on I'll do more because it's super fun to give y'all a glimpse into this job!

I've been looking up what it's like being a camp counselor because I was looking up my old after school program from elementary school, and then remembered an online friend recently told me I'd make a good camp counselor. I thought maybe not since I have never worked with kids and I'm a bundle of anxiety rather than a leader but the more I think about it the more I think I might actually be good at it after getting used to being around kids and practice in that kind of job.
I'd so love to be like the after school staff who were my friends when I was bullied and alone. One in particular named "Mr.Zach" was like a friend to me. As for camp I had both good and lonely experiences as I went twice to different ones. I love most of the experiences from the first time and the memories are always like a safe haven in my mind.

7:50 is so accurate lol the lifeguards bond with us counselors staff week and we have to let them go burn in the sun all day whe the campers come and dont see them till dinner 😂😌

Dude, I wish there was a spooky summer camp where you can live the F13 experience. It should be mostly regular summer camp. But at night, one of the counsels dresses at Jason at night and scare the shit out of the kids 😆

Is it easy to become a camp counsellor in America if you are from England? It looks really fun and I would love to do it, but I don’t don’t know what the process is like.
I know a lot of camps that have international staff! I'm sure anyone one would be so excited to have you! I'm not sure what the process is like either, but it might be worth investigating if that's something you'd really like to try!
Hi!! I'm looking into it as well, and basically wot I've found out so far is u can go thru different agencies and u have an interview and stuff so basically like a nice job application and they help place u at a camp that best suits u, and then u fly out and they arrange ur transport to camp and it goes from there x
@@holly9251 I looked into it and was going to do it this year but found out you had to be 18 by June 1st and my birthdays June 12th so a lot of agencies weren’t accepting me. I might do it next year tho because it’s something I really want to do.
