Seven Worlds One Planet (2019)
Millions of years ago incredible forces ripped apart the Earth's crust creating seven extraordinary continents. One Planet: Seven Worlds, presented by Sir David Attenborough, will reveal how each distinct continent has shaped the unique animal life found there.
Welcome to BBC EARTH! The world is an amazing place full of stories, beauty and natural wonder. Here you'll find 50 years worth of entertaining and thought-provoking natural history content. Dramatic, rare, and exclusive, nature doesn't get more exciting than this.

Crazy to think that this is the world we live in, absolutely fascinating to see these animals. Once you start paying attention, you'll see that we don't need an alien world, we have enough "aliens" here to explore. We just take it all for granted.
We must make a difference
Beautiful comment
Were All Aliens Bro
I couldn't agree more. Also, these amazing creatures need to be preserved and prototected lest they be lost forever.
It's not about ''needing'' an alien world to exist, its about looking for evidence of there being one. Exploring science with the intention of ''needs being met alone'' takes the fun out of it. Science should be explored for all it's wonder and what all it has in store for itself. Not to draw rash conclusions based on anyone's needs for anything being impossible. Science should be a thing of awe mystery and wonder. Science without religion is lame and religion without science is Blind!!!! Blessed by natural law are all they who study science in it's purity with unconditional love.
the cinematography here should not go understated, feels like I'm watching a blockbuster film except it's all real. Whoever took these shots, be proud. You're a master at your craft.
Almost more like a Pixar film, or maybe cgi like avatar
the close up shots of their claws and teeth were amazing
This never gets old. I find them not just utterly fascinating but their grotesqueness to be comical.

That bull even though losing 10kg everyday was still bigger and stronger. Incredible.
Magnificent creatures!!! I hope they are still around in another century
humanmade climate change says no.
Because of Neil, I found out about these adorable creatures, and I cannot get enough of them
This just sounds like the most horrific toilet sounds. I'm actually worried about playing this without headphones, lol.
So much of nature is about survival and replication; the preserving and passing on of one’s genes.
Thank goodness humans have a choice to do more.
Aye animals are impossibly simple in ways that humans will never understand. Eat/Hunt, Sleep, maybe a fight or too, mate and repeat. I wish human life was that simple
"You thought you'd stick your nose into my business? I think not!!!"
It took me a second to realize the people crowding the beach were actually penguins 💀
filming is insane. amazing

Yes

Yes they are. Just don't get to close because they can surprisingly move fast and they are mean like my ex Sydney

When I was a kid I saw an Elephant Seal Bull at the St.Louis Zoo. I had never even heard of one this being over 60 years ago. I thought it was a statue sticking up out of the water. It grunted loudly sunk beneath the surface and scared the hell out of me. If you ever get the chance to visit the St. Louis Zoo make sure you do .
One of the best Zoo’s in the world….And it’s FREE!!!
Really when did the st louis zoo have elephant seals I've been going there my whole life and I don't recall seeing them there
@@stevenelbert8989Really , it was a long time ago but I know what I saw.
I was 9 or 10 which means around 1960. On another trip I saw Marlin Perkins drive by in a golf cart. It is one of my favorite Zoos with an incredible Lion and Gorilla exhibits.Later in he 70's when I was in the Navy I worked across the street and I lived around the corner from the San Diego zoo in Balboa Park. Both very nice Zoos.
@@stevenelbert8989 In zoos, these wild animals are everywhere, but they are trained not to harm humans.
@@mesaeddie it was in the 1960 oh okay I was born in 1999 that explains it
Amazing moving camera angles. I've seen wild elephant seals, but they're always a disappointment compared to the closeup angles that we see on BBC Earth.
The subtitles don't match what Sir David Attenborough says.
0:15 David Attenborough says: 'This bull elephant seal holds the mating rights to 60 females'.
What's actually written: 'This bull elephant C o Sumatra, March, June 60 females'.
No I’m pretty sure those subtitles are accurate
Fascinating as usual,, well done
This is life.
Damn I love that outro it never gets old.

Excelente a minúcia do camara man...Uma batalha de gigantes!! O dominante e o dominado ...a dualidade também se assiste no mundo destes animais!!Ganha a lei do mais forte?! ou do experiente?!...
Отличный бой👍
One of the more underwhelming of the BBC Earth videos. Most are truly great.

Ah yes, the source for BBC Earth's end cards. 😊
I'd still like to know what the music is for these end cards. I can't seem to find it.

They didn't evolve from bears. Bears are just their closest living relatives.

1:45 haha fart war
Did the elephant seals sing the song that goes like rolin rolin rolin movin movin movin keep those doggies moving road hogs rain and wind and weather helping forever wishing me girl was by me side
Sheesh that sounds pretty miserable, having to fight constantly and not even getting a chance to eat
I always wondered why elephant seals didn't evolve to have bigger teeth to win these battles. Does anyone know?
There’s probably no need for the teeth to be bigger since they get the job done, as shown here. They’d most likely only develop bigger teeth if they needed to kill their opponent.
@@colinfisher6750 I can't image how having bigger teeth than what they have currently does not give them a huge advantage in these battles. I'm not saying they should have tusks like real elephants, just bigger than what they are now. I can't think of any evolution pressure that keeps them this small.
The teeth don't really come into play during these fights. All males have tons of scars from bites against other males. The REAL
damage they inflict upon another is when they use their weight and mass to slam into their opponent. As the narrator says,
"blubber 15cm thick protects from the cold, but not from the impact of a 4 ton opponent."
Not that the bites don't hurt, but it's the slam that does 90% of the damage.
@@TheRed971 But still 4 tons behind a long tooth should cause more damage than 4 ton behind a small one, right?
@@Fiyaaaahh The design of the animal would change completely by that point. In order to compensate for the longer fangs, the blubber would have to be even thicker, which means the animal is now possibly larger and heavier than it was before. Without that change, longer fangs mean that fights between males would result in more fatalities since the fangs would pierce deeper and cause more potentially fatal injuries.
The epic battle of blubber against blubber. The epic battle of the blubber. These spectacular creatures made me smile and laugh. They are cute in their own unique way. But🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 battleling bulge to bulge. Its like who ever gives the biggest bulge punch wins.😂😂🤭🤭 omg he almost squashed the baby!😵💫🥵

How exactly is the victor determined? In the video, we only see the challenger decide to back down, but why? How does he know that he's lost? And what would be the consequences if he decided to continue fighting anyway? Or even abandon the fight and go elsewhere in the other bull's territory?
They intimidate each other as they square up. After that they raise up and grunt. This is to intimidate the other and show off their size.
He backs off because he is intimidated. He believes he will lose. If he didn't, he would've fought. If they fight, they risk getting gravely hurt. And the challenger much rather fight tomorrow than be injured to the point he won't be able to fight again.
Edit: they also did fight. The smashing into each other. The challenger felt hurt and felt at risk of injury more so than the hope of injuring the other.
Basically it's a matter of submission
@@stansman5461 -- Is there any external sign of injury? It doesn't look like it, so I guess observers would be inclined to assume the challenger's taken enough internal damage or pain to warrant giving up. Since the video doesn't provide any evidence of internal injury, that can only be an assumption, though.

he battle between two bull elephant seals is a spectacle of nature that captivates both curiosity and controversy. While some see it as a display of dominance and power, others question the ethics of animals fighting for supremacy.
why would people question the ethics of nature? what would they do about it anyways?
Ethics of animals? Wasn't aware animals or nature had any ethics. They (animals) are guided by instincts not a moral compass as humans.
Ethics of animals fighting? That's just nature. What will they do? Tell the seals to stop fighting?
My guy, that's just what they do. What are you gonna do? Stop the 4 ton seals from fighting?
Something tells me that this is an AI generated response.
Protect the Seals 😢
Why should we protect the seals when we refuse to even protect people?
Fun fact I got chased by one in new Zealand
Every video got better with lots or fart noises
Can't help but wonder how much of their fight is just "crazy testosterone frenzy" (just look at those crazy eyes...) and how much is carefully masured tactics. Either way, it is earhtshaking.
