@RamseyDewey Hey Ramsay, I just recently discovered your videos on TH-cam and I really enjoy them a lot. A few months ago my passion for martial arts got rekindled and since then I watched a ton of martial arts related content on TH-cam. I also stumbled upon many Aikido related videos and what always irritates me is the emphasis on "controlled falls" in Aikido. I get the idea that you need to learn how to fall safely, either when you're getting thrown or just to escape a nasty lock. I totally get that. But the more Aikido related videos I watch, the more I get the feeling that the STRONG emphasis on falling techniques is not only for the student's safety, but rather to "trick" them into playing along with their master's demonstration, so that it looks more impressive. What do you think? I can't say I know much about Aikido, so maybe I got it all wrong. Keep up the good work!
@Ramsey Dewey Hey coach!, it's strange to hear you speak as an American raised by Europeans who lives in China teaching martial arts about the traumatic experiences you had in the hood where I live. Man, I'm really sorry that you even had to step foot in Jose C Paz, it's a horrible place and it was worse in the 90s. Thanks for the videos, coach, greetings from Jose C Paz, Buenos Aires, Argentina!
Hello! A bit of a progression question regarding kicks that target the thigh. Would doing independent training either after or before class that follows what I'm about to describe be a good idea, as long as proper technique is used? Warm up if necessary From fighting stance, 25 kicks with the rear leg onto a heavy bag, around where the thigh of an opponent would be Switch to orthodox stance, and same 25 kicks with rear leg onto a heavy bag 60 - 90 second break Repeat more times. 3-4 sessions per week. After each session, adding either kicks per set, or sets, so that every future session has around 50 - 100 kicks more total kicks per leg than the previous session. Examples 1st session 25 kicks, right leg Switch stance 25 kicks, left leg 60 - 90s break 4 sets 2nd session 25 kicks, right leg Switch stance 25 kicks, left leg 60 - 90s break 5 sets Progressing like this, until reaching a total of 10 000 kicks per leg, and near the end, being capable of doing something like 100 kicks, right leg switch 100 kicks, left leg switch . . . Until a total of 500 kicks has been done with both legs, after which it's break time. I did something like this before myself, usually after a 1.5-2.5h powerlifting session, and it worked out quite well and I was in the top shape of my life due to the amount of cardio training from all the kicks. Would you say that recommending a progression/program like this to a friend who is getting into Muay Thai, would help or hinder them?
Ramsey, a great source to learn more about Irish Collar and Elbow would be a man named Ruadhán MacFadden. He is a cultural anthropologist and lifelong grappler. He has a podcast called Hero with a thousand holds. He’s also written a book about collar and elbow. Being Irish myself it’s been particularly fascinating learning about the art. I try to use collar and elbow techniques as much as I can in my gi jiu-jitsu standup to keep the style alive!
The bar would be quite low on that one. But who knows someone must have written like a michelin guide on best airport restaurants and activities other then being manhandled by security coping with delays when the doors fall of the planes accidentally and losing baggage. I quite like trying to reason with any indian airline staff when I'm stuck in the airport missed my connecting flight and listen to them weasel out of trying to help me out without a bribe.
Mr. Dewey, I do not know how much you know about weight loss, but I was wondering if it would be better if I didn't eat after Taekwondo on Taekwondo nights? If I go to Taekwondo, I usually don't eat dinner until about 8pm. Also, what do you think of Stamp Fairtex?
As far as body weight, body composition, etc… When you eat is not important at all. What you eat and how much you eat is what matters. Why are you trying to lose weight?
@@RamseyDewey I'm tired of seeing the word "obese" on my medical papers. I'm 5'6" and weigh 266lbs. I know most of that is my fault because my diet is horrible.
@@Taekwondotim40 Can you keep a food journal for one week? You don't have to share it with me or anyone else, I just want you to write down what you eat ever day. You don't have to change anything else about your routine that week except for writing it down. Can you do that? After a week, send me an email at ramseydewey@gmail.com and let me know if you noticed anything weren't aware of before.
Hey @RamseyDewey seriously good faith will you have me on Podcast I'm sure we agree on a lot and had similar early NHB MMA experiences will be fun to talk and good to show that while we disagree on somethings like Self-Defense we agree on a lot and can let stuff go where I think we both did some wrong towards each other

He does ok but not as well as his actual career would warrant. Because social media doesn't reward actual experience or skill its about presentation style over substance. And yes it would be an very interesting podcast. As for writing crap about other people I don't know that much about that happens on social media. Some places that's all that happens. An adult wouldn't cling to that. Especially two actual fighters who know what real pain is as opposed to having their feelings hurt by a throwaway comment. But I don't know either of them or you. Just both of the other guys I'd spend time listenign to and I'd learn a lot. Hope it happens once Mr Dewey has read the comment and makes a considered response. Make it happen.
Why don't you go to court with those people that destroyed your knee and demand some financial compensation? They destroyed one of the means you were making money with. And after all of that they behave very bad with you.
