I think the biggest problem when interacting with the police is that it's impossible to predict how a cop would react to any of these things. Power trippers will make shit up and arrest you for less.

Also important to PLEASE don’t do this for just a speeding ticket. If you wait a moment, you’d be surprised how most of the time what they’re pulling you over for is trivial
I've been given so many breaks for speeding, by just being honest when asked why were you going so fast. I usually respond I don't have a good reason.

I've seen to many videos where a cop "just wants to talk" says they're not being detained and then after being asked if they are free to go the cop will respond no. Normally followed up with "do you have identification?" What do you do when you're not being detained but you're not free to go?

5th amendment: Right not to be forced testify against yourself. Also includes the right to remain silent, but _must be explicitly invoked. Salinas v. Texas_ (2013)
6th amendment: Right to the effectiveness assistance of counsel. Useful to invoke when in custody because iit cuts off police questioning until your lawyer is present. (Invoking the 5th amendment also stops questioning, but only temporarily -- they can start asking questions again after a sufficient passage of time. Invoking the 6th amendment shuts down the questioning completely until a lawyer is present.)

I was taught this stuff long ago when I was but a wee boy, and it's super important and works.
I was once arrested for a false charge, and when my lawyer found out that I did all of these rules, he was very happy and praised me.
