Pattaya Hotel Deals - Don't Let This Happen to You

  • Many travelers to Pattaya pre-book only a small portion of their stay online prior to arriving. Once on the ground, they go in search of a bigger and better hotel deal in their preferred area. Today I will do just that, I've selected a starting point and we will visit 4 hotels in the area in search of a deal.

Thanks for posting this; very interesting and I'll personally check out the Basaya when I'm back in November. I've seen it from the road when I visit Jasmin's for breakfast but never wandered inside. Many thanks and I look forward to watching the video you produce of your birthday bash!

If a person can afford to pay 1500 dollars for a flight for a 2-3 week trip that means 75-100 dollars per day then why be so cheap on your place to sleep and spend half of your time. This is your holiday and there are many many very affordable good options at the beach. I could list them but I do not give away my haunts. Most important thing is to know what you want on your trip. Beach, food, quiet place, travel around to various places, girls, bars, etc. Find a place that matches your needs. There are many different choices, but treat yourself well if you only come for 2-3 weeks. That way it was a cool trip that you will remember fondly. Spend money on good food as the prices are much lower than in the west. Treat yourself good. Thanks for the video and Happy Birthday!

I tried doing that on my trip last month initially booking 4 nights, but I ended up booking 13 nights in 3 different hotels, the stress and anxiety I would experience is not worth saving 5-10 bucks a night. I prefer having somewhat of an itinerary when I travel.

I agree I'm on holiday I don't need the stress and you're only here for three weeks. If I was long-term then I would book somewhere for ten days and find an apartment. I would even find an agent to find the long-term property
An easy life is worth more than money to me, pay more, less stress suits me.

The contracts hotels sign with Agoda/Booking are pretty complex but depending on hotel size, they agree to keep a certain number of rooms available for online booking so while a hotel may not be full, the vacant rooms may be part of the online allotment. Hotels must also agree not to rent rooms to walk-ins for less than the online price.
Sometimes guests get really frustrated and angry because they will rent a room for two nights on a booking site, then decide to extend for a few more nights. They don't understand when the desk says "Sorry, we can not rent you the room for the same rate for more nights, you have to book it through the booking site." It can get complicated.

Depends what you are doing and how much time you have. This time I've preferred to pick 3 places that I've been to a lot of times over the years and book all my hotels in advance. This makes me feel less stressed and I know I've got a great deal on each one because I booked everything way back in March after I got a great deal on my flight. If you do a lot of research on your hotels you should have very little issues.

Third party sites work and provided their own allotment, so it's feasible going direct to property will tell you they're booked. I've come across that a lot here in US, and hotel occupancy is back to pre Covid prices or more. Demand is pent up. I finally looking into hotel rates as I'm booked to arrive in February. Breakfast is a good amenity, but including breakfast can range from $10 -$16. Sometimes on Agoda, for $4 more, you'll get breakfast. As I'm looking for lodging options, I'm noticing a 30% hike in prices in Asoke area in Bangkok. I usually don't go below a 4 star and I'm noticing a uptick of prices bearing in mind I was last in Thailand during last April and May, still under Test and Go and hotels welcomed anybody they could get. What I'm noticing to is some hotels that were reasonable pre covid are attempting to recover monies. Sukumvit Suites is a good example. I was a 3 star budget hotel, and after checking rates, they've gone crazy. You'll get that mentality. Luckily for me, my stays in tourist spots will be minimal as I'll venture and continue my quest to cover all of Thailand. That will certainly bring my lodging cost, until Jurassic Park in Cha Am send me their spread sheet of costs. It's astronomically more than I ever paid for lodging in Thailand, and I'll probably bite for the experience. ...... That said, analyst within the tourist industry have never come out off a pandemic and throwing out high numbers.that will stabilize in time. Airfare is still high and fuel is scarce in Europe, maybe as much as 200% more to heat you dwelling in England. That might me another impetus. So far arrivals are weak from the west. Indians on free junkets seem to have the lay of the land and soapy massages.

You had me thinking over my coffee this morning. A few other points to consider. You do get a discount scheme on Agoda. The more you book the more discount you get like any scheme. It's not a massive discount but it could add up depending on how many you book and length of time in Thailand.
Also if you're traveling with others this can lead to issues if someone doesn't like the hotel that's been picked. I had this last time I visited. Rooms weren't the same so people were moaning. Solo you only have yourself to blame 😂
I'm back in November so glad it's all sorted for a months stay 😃

In my day, I stayed up around Soi 2 (Sabai Lodge/Inn/Resort)... It was very convenient when Central Marina/Big C was in full swing (before Terminal 21)... Now those properties became very popular with the Indian tourists, so YMMV... still around 800b. Then a very popular mongers hotel opened up on Soi 15, and I was sold forever...(unfortunately gone now)... Lots of hotels still closed/boarded up with no indication of ever reopening, but there is plenty of capacity... but as other responders have stated, is it really worth the angst to save $5? My issue w/ the hotel sites is that if you prepaid and don't like the place, you are stuck... so YMMV... Find a place you like and stick with it, and maybe look around to try a new place for a few nights with every visit... good luck.. oh man, those chicken wings look great... lol

Hopefully you'll do a vid on that someday if you haven't already.

I noticed you were in Best Supermarket on the very corner of Klang/Sai Song. I love that shop. Was staying at August Suites, just a few meters up, was going to send post cards to mum and dad, but just couldn`t find any, the lady in the post office opposite Chill Inn didn`t have them anymore, was recommended Friendship. Didn`t have any. They sent me to the market at Buakhao/Pattaya Tai, couldn`t find anything that reminded of a post card, had to give up. Took the Baht Bus back to Klang, went in to Best Supermarket and they had stacks of them 55.

As far as your exchange kiosk recommend is concerned I just did what you did and according to the websites of TT and Super Rich are concerned at today's rates for GBP
Super Rich give 30 cents more and the Euro 5 cents more, That's why I get free hotel shuttle to airport and use the kiosks behind the booking office for the train.

Vee's wings looked perfect. You should give us the recipe and Vee making them as a video as your birthday present to your audience instead of handing out cash to us. I have traveled to Thailand since 1995 and always humped it looking for a good hotel once in country. Some of the critics are right about this method. It can be a waste of time. Now that I am old, I am less inclined to do it, but I also know the country much better and the reputation of hotels.

Stayed in Queens on Pattaya Klang.. Okay.... Eastiny Bella Vista soi 7... okay... Pig and Whistle soi 7 really liked the rooms but best to get a room at the back as it's not so noisy plus the food is great..... At the top of soi 7 on the left is a loundry/taxi service and they rent a small bungalow hidden with just a doorway to reach it a few yards down. the street... very private.... between soi 7 and soi 8 on second road I've stayed in one of the rooms above the bar/restarant the most basic room but very cheap...

I did the same as you this afternoon walking around asking at budget hotels. The best price I got was 400 baht. Yes the room was very basic but it had everything that I need. Why pay more ! If you work out how much time you stay in your room then what is it that you are actually paying for.

I agree hotel breakfast isn't worth much because I am not in Pattaya for an early start. I am there for the nightlife. You can get a perfectly reasonable breakfast at your own time for 100THB or less anyway. Sometimes I just have a bag of nuts for breakfast anyway!

It looks like there's still quite a lot of Hotels closed/being refurbished and new ones being built (but not finished). When they're all open then the price will depend to some degree upon demand.
Xmas December 2019 agoda was advising around 60% occupancy rate, however NYE was closer to 90%.
