What a lot of people are missing is that there is a $1200.00 fine to the renter of one of these bikes if it is stolen. So she was panicking out of exhaustion, hormones, being surrounded by a group of young men trying to intimidate her, and the fact that if she let the bike go she would be held accountable for the large fine that she probably can’t afford.

There needs to be repercussions for the young men who were harassing this woman. I can almost guarantee you nothing will be done though. Their policy is that "Such fees may be charged as soon as 24 hours after the Bicycle is not returned or is returned in a damaged state" and "Bike Share will attempt to contact You via telephone before charging Your credit or debit card, by using the contact information you provided when purchasing access to the Services." Not WILL contact her but ATTEMPT to contact her. Their policy is "The Ride Time data generated by the Services' computer is conclusive evidence of the period of Your use of a Bicycle." It's important to note that when reading their policy it's that: 1) The Ride Time data is conclusive evidence of her using the bicycle even if he was the one using it 2) Her use of the bike is limited to 48 consecutive hours even if he used it for more than 48 consecutive hours 3) Any use that exceeds 48 hours is deemed as her losing the bike until she returns it to a Bike dock even if he was the one who had the bike 4) Her credit card will, not might, be charged a lost bike fee of up to $1200 even if he had the bike or lost the bike 5) After 48 hours they may, not will since its at their discretion whether they file a report, file a police report alleging that she stole their bike even if he had stolen it 6) She must returned the bike in the same condition that she rented it and is presumed to be responsible for any damage even if someone else damaged it 7) If returned damaged or in disrepair she will be charged a fee equal to the repair cost even if she claims someone else damaged it unless she can conclusively prove someone else did 8) Such fees for a lost, stolen or damaged bike may be charged as soon as 24 hours after the bike isn't returned because they don't have to wait for 48 hours and can choose to act in 24 9) They will attempt to contact her, not succeed in doing so, before charging her debit or credit card up to $1200 for a lost, stolen or damaged bike 10) She must report the bicycle as lost (or stolen) to them or the police within 24 hours of it disappearing but this isn't conclusive evidence that someone stole it In other words, unless she can conclusively prove that she did not damage, steal or lose the bike she is on the hook for the charges even if she reports it to the police and they can automatically charge her as soon as 24 to 48 hours regardless of whether she reported the bike as stolen to the police. The mere existence of a police report allegedly that their property was stolen would not be proof of it being stolen by someone else. Unless the police, in a city the size of NYC, can find their bike or who stole it and prove that the person did they can and most likely will charge her by assuming one of three things; 1) she stole their bike and reported it as stolen to avoid having to pay for what she stole from them 2) she lost their bike and reported it as stolen to avoid having to pay for what she lost 3) she damaged their bike and destroyed or disposed of it to avoid having to pay for what she damaged Now it makes sense why she would be so emotional about it especially if she is aware of the many horror stories that people have had with the company and police bureaucracies when their rented bikes were stolen. Horror stories about how police would tell them that it's against police policy to take a police report from a renter and that any reports of stolen property is to be filed by the owner of the property and not those who use the property and the company telling them that it's not their problem if the police won't take a police report. Of people who literally beg the police officers to take a police report even if it's against NYC police policy because the company isn't going to file a police report because it's more of a hassle for them to do so and many of their customers could be criminals who want them to file the police report for them by trying to shift the burden of responsibility from the customer to the renter. Here is the Citi Bike policy for you to see that they could really stick it to her unless she can prove conclusively that someone stole her bike which would be next to impossible in a city the size of NYC: "The Ride Time data generated by the Services’ computer is conclusive evidence of the period of Your use of a Bicycle. During the pandemic I was alerted to just how medical professionals were not only essential but heroes. I call BS based on the general behavior of medical professionals. Within that field there are heroes and God bless them but ( mostly kids) who stocked shelves or ran a cash registers at Wal Mart were equally heroic. There is almost no chance that he was "mistaken about renting the bike" because she has released her receipts showing that she had rented it which means it could not have been on his account. He will almost certainly not be able to show any receipts or debit or credit card statements that show that he was charged for the bike because it's highly unlikely that Citi Bike charged two people for the same bike but let's say that's possible. It's possible that they could have done that. There's just one problem and that is his behavior and his refusal to reset the bike and take it back out on his account as suggested by a bystander. If he was "mistaken about renting the bike" then he should have said "that's a great idea and I will put it back and take it out and then she can't claim it is hers and I can be about my life." His adamant refusal to do that is evidence of what we already know. He didn't rent that bike and he knew it. He was not mistaken. He was trying to intimidate her into allowing him to steal the bike and to run up charges on her account.
It begs the question- why would a pregnant white woman try to steal a bike from 4-5 adult black men. As Judges has often said, if it doesn't make sense, it's probably not true.
This is very terrifying. As a white American woman I’ve never been afraid of groups men/boys in parks or where ever, regardless of color. And I grew up in NY. Had a black guy video tape me because I told him to take a few steps back(6ft rule and all) and he went off on me not saying that I was racist, but kept saying "why do you have a problem with me" "tell me the true reason" over and over. Trying to catch me saying something racist. I kept calm and just did my job well he shove a phone in face and try to egg me on. I broke down crying after he left as it went on for 10mins. That wasn't the only time I got a phone shove in my face, the last time was over a couch that someone brought and these two girls wanted to buy it but called me racist when I told them I couldn't because the couch was already brought and waitting on pick up.

I'm a die hard liberal and I agree with Conservatives on very few things, but this is one of them. The villainization and mobbing and dogpiling is so ridiculous and is really harmful. But evidence-free "gender" ideology is also inherently homophobic and anti-gay/lesbian (despite how often trans activists try to politically leverage the respect that gays/lesbians have earned, by calling critiques of trans ideology "anti-LGBTQ", even if they've consistently supported gay rights, for decades). If you remember the satirical "Super-Straight" meme-ideology from a few years ago, trans activists have been VERY consistent that attraction based on evidence-based sex (ather than on evidence-free, assertion-based "gender") is ALWAYS, INHERENTLY "transphobic bigottry", according to their beliefs. What a lot of people are missing is that there is a $1200.00 fine to the renter of one of these bikes if it is stolen. Her being placed on leave because she was upset about her bike being stolen and her being put at risk of incurring excessive charges he could run up which would be next to impossible to prove wasn't her makes this worse but when you consider Citi Bike's policy on a missing, stolen or damaged bike, it becomes even more disgusting that she was put on leave because a charge of up to $1200 could be posted to her debit or credit card within 24 hours. Their policy is that "Such fees may be charged as soon as 24 hours after the Bicycle is not returned or is returned in a damaged state" and "Bike Share will attempt to contact You via telephone before charging Your credit or debit card, by using the contact information you provided when purchasing access to the Services." Not WILL contact her but ATTEMPT to contact her. Their policy is "The Ride Time data generated by the Services' computer is conclusive evidence of the period of Your use of a Bicycle." It's important to note that when reading their policy it's that:
1) The Ride Time data is conclusive evidence of her using the bicycle even if he was the one using it
2) Her use of the bike is limited to 48 consecutive hours even if he used it for more than 48 consecutive hours
3) Any use that exceeds 48 hours is deemed as her losing the bike until she returns it to a Bike dock even if he was the one who had the bike
4) Her credit card will, not might, be charged a lost bike fee of up to $1200 even if he had the bike or lost the bike
5) After 48 hours they may, not will since its at their discretion whether they file a report, file a police report alleging that she stole their bike even if he had stolen it
6) She must returned the bike in the same condition that she rented it and is presumed to be responsible for any damage even if someone else damaged it
7) If returned damaged or in disrepair she will be charged a fee equal to the repair cost even if she claims someone else damaged it unless she can conclusively prove someone else did
8) Such fees for a lost, stolen or damaged bike may be charged as soon as 24 hours after the bike isn't returned because they don't have to wait for 48 hours and can choose to act in 24
9) They will attempt to contact her, not succeed in doing so, before charging her debit or credit card up to $1200 for a lost, stolen or damaged bike
10) She must report the bicycle as lost (or stolen) to them or the police within 24 hours of it disappearing but this isn't conclusive evidence that someone stole it
In other words, unless she can conclusively prove that she did not damage, steal or lose the bike she is on the hook for the charges even if she reports it to the police and they can automatically charge her as soon as 24 to 48 hours regardless of whether she reported the bike as stolen to the police. The mere existence of a police report allegedly that their property was stolen would not be proof of it being stolen by someone else. Unless the police, in a city the size of NYC, can find their bike or who stole it and prove that the person did they can and most likely will charge her by assuming one of three things;
1) she stole their bike and reported it as stolen to avoid having to pay for what she stole from them
2) she lost their bike and reported it as stolen to avoid having to pay for what she lost
3) she damaged their bike and destroyed or disposed of it to avoid having to pay for what she damaged
Now it makes sense why she would be so emotional about it especially if she is aware of the many horror stories that people have had with the company and police bureaucracies when their rented bikes were stolen. Horror stories about how police would tell them that it's against police policy to take a police report from a renter and that any reports of stolen property is to be filed by the owner of the property and not those who use the property and the company telling them that it's not their problem if the police won't take a police report. Of people who literally beg the police officers to take a police report even if it's against NYC police policy because the company isn't going to file a police report because it's more of a hassle for them to do so and many of their customers could be criminals who want them to file the police report for them by trying to shift the burden of responsibility from the customer to the renter.
Here is the Citi Bike policy for you to see that they could really stick it to her unless she can prove conclusively that someone stole her bike which would be next to impossible in a city the size of NYC:
"The Ride Time data generated by the Services’ computer is conclusive evidence of the period of Your use of a Bicycle. Your use of the Services is limited to a period of 48 consecutive hours. My mom was a registered labor and delivery nurse and you should NEVER treat nurses, assistants, doctors or any medical staff on the street with abuse and harassment, especially when it’s a six month pregnant female. During the pandemic I was alerted to just how medical professionals were not only essential but heroes. I call BS based on the general behavior of medical professionals. There is almost no chance that he was "mistaken about renting the bike" because she has released her receipts showing that she had rented it which means it could not have been on his account. He will almost certainly not be able to show any receipts or debit or credit card statements that show that he was charged for the bike because it's highly unlikely that Citi Bike charged two people for the same bike but let's say that's possible. It's possible that they could have done that. There's just one problem and that is his behavior and his refusal to reset the bike and take it back out on his account as suggested by a bystander. If he was "mistaken about renting the bike" then he should have said "that's a great idea and I will put it back and take it out and then she can't claim it is hers and I can be about my life." His adamant refusal to do that is evidence of what we already know.
He didn't rent that bike and he knew it. He was not mistaken. He was trying to intimidate her into allowing him to steal the bike and to run up charges on her account.

Had a black guy video tape me because I told him to take a few steps back(6ft rule and all) and he went off on me not saying that I was racist, but kept saying "why do you have a problem with me" "tell me the true reason" over and over. Trying to catch me saying something racist. I kept calm and just did my job well he shove a phone in face and try to egg me on. I broke down crying after he left as it went on for 10mins. That wasn't the only time I got a phone shove in my face, the last time was over a couch that someone brought and these two girls wanted to buy it but called me racist when I told them I couldn't because the couch was already brought and waitting on pick up.

I'm a die hard liberal and I agree with Conservatives on very few things, but this is one of them. The villainization and mobbing and dogpiling is so ridiculous and is really harmful. I've also become disillusioned with mainstream trans and gender ideology (and believe that it is actually harming REAL trans people, many of whom agree).
I was on the left, til 3 or 4 years ago (i don't what I am now- "centrist"? "Politically homeless"? "Classical liberal"? idek), but "gender" ideology is doing far more harm to groups the left is MEANT to care about.
Personally, I only accept claims that have empirical evidence, so I don't believe in the idea of "REAL vs fake trans people"- EVERY evidence-based, biological male, claiming to be "REALLY a woman (in whatever mystical, 100% evidence-free, pseudo-spiritual, "male body, but a female SOUL" sense of the word)" is EXACTLY as valid as all others, as far as I can see.
But evidence-free "gender" ideology is also inherently homophobic and anti-gay/lesbian (despite how often trans activists try to politically leverage the respect that gays/lesbians have earned, by calling critiques of trans ideology "anti-LGBTQ", even if they've consistently supported gay rights, for decades).
If you remember the satirical "Super-Straight" meme-ideology from a few years ago, trans activists have been VERY consistent that attraction based on evidence-based sex (ather than on evidence-free, assertion-based "gender") is ALWAYS, INHERENTLY "transphobic bigottry", according to their beliefs. But being "same-SEX attracted" has always been the literal definition of "gay/lesbian"- Trans-activists are TRYING to re-define it to "same-GENDER attracted", to rob gays and lesbians of the same right to self-determination, that they have ALREADY imposed on women, by re-defining THAT term, under the feet of actual women. But the fact remains that "same-GENDER attracted" is definitionally "bisexual", anyway.

Virtually ALL adult gays and lesbians were "gender non-conforming" in childhood, as well as frequently being confused, and insecure about their own identity (as virtuallly ALL children are, at certain ages).
The vast majority of the current flood of detransitioners are same-sex attracted- Traditional, religious 'conversion therapy' was FAR less effective at erasing gays and leabians, and transforming them into straight people (or, the ILLUSION of straight people, with "gender" ideology).
The progressive left is doing EXACTLY what ultra-anti-gay, Islamic Iran has done since the 70s, to """solve the problem""" of gay men- Transforming gender non-conforming, homosexual men, into (the ILLUSION of) "gender-conforming, straight women"... And that is JUST the anti-gay aspects of evidence-free "gender" ideology, not even STARTING on the misogynistic, anti-woman aspects of this supposedly "feminist" ideology which has REPEATEDLY sided (in several independent incidents) with ONE SINGLE fully-intactbmale convicted raapist seeking access to women's prison, over protecting the right to safety of the HUNDREDS of women inmates, being subjected to the risk of raape.

Even if we DO just accept the evidence-free, objectively impossible claims of transgenderism, that it's somehow possible for an evidence-based, biological female to be "REALLY a man"- That would STILL make it a massive violation of rights, the way this one, tiny minority (about 0.5% to 2% of population, depending which data you trust) is favoured and prioritized above far, far larger minority groups, like gays and lesbians (around 15% of population) and women (50%).
Indeed tolerating or worse straight up reward bad behaviour will obviously harm the innocents within the group whatever we talking gay, black or trans.

Maybe I’m off base here … But just how am I supposed to believe that a 6 month pregnant healthcare worker who just got off a 12 hour shift would suddenly decide that she was going to take on 4 black guys and steal a bike from one of them. That should be our first clue that she was being harassed. After that, the reality that she is LITERALLY bring the receipts. Not only is she bringing the receipt of her original bike rental (the one the kid stole) and also her second rental receipt of the second bike she had to rent.
