I was just fed this. I'm an old Rush fan myself. I discovered them when I was 12. I was born when Neil was 12. Four days before his birthday. Growing up, I had no heros. Until Rush.
Last little bit. Red Sector A still brings tears to my eyes. Around ten years ago my nextdoor neighbor who was a WWII veteran showed me som pictures from the European theater. He was there when they liberated Dachau (I think) . This guy was one of those guys who seem to be made of pipe cleaners and shoe leather, but I could see him tear up as he showed me some pictures from his time there. Ever since then that song hits extra hard
The song "Kid Gloves" is excellent. Probably my favorite from the album. I just discovered Rush a month ago. I've listened through 16 albums so far, multiple times, plus live performance videos. They have an awesome sound, musicianship, lyrics, and live performances. They check all the boxes for me.
I have! Honestly, no band compares. The music and lyrics just resonate with me. Next, I'm going to start listening to the audio version of Geddy's new book.
I was trying to tell my friend earlier today, that Neil, Alex and Geddy viewed everything before Moving Pictures as kinda early stages of learning music. Yes,. Hemispheres is one of my all time favorites,. But that music can be copied. Now GUP, and forward, some very difficult arrangements and not easy to mimic or reproduce. Real Rush fans (like myself) grew with the band, changed with the band.
Grace Under Pressure was a vastly underrated album. I loved all 8 songs. The songs were heavy on the keyboards/synthesizers which was the trend back then. But, each song was a rocker. I also consider Between The Wheels my favorite. Heavy on the keyboards, but one you can definitely rock out to. Hearing these songs takes me back to age 15. Thanks for the great video.
This album came after my favorite Rush era, but the songs still bring back certain memories. I think "Kid Gloves" threw a lot of people off with its unusual time signatures. I think Power Windows was a better album, and then they made a good comeback in '93.
Grace Under Pressure was an odd album for me. When it first came out I didn't like it very much, but as I got older I liked it more and more. It's not my favorite album but it's top 5
Hi, thanks for posting the video. It brought me back many memories from that period of my life 👍 There’s a few things I’d like to point out as constructive criticism. First, you should try to make the levels between the songs and your voice as equal as possible. Second, and I don’t know how much of it is caused by TH-cam, but there are many sound drops during the songs. Do you suppose they might be introduced by YT? In any case, thanks again for taking the time to post. As a curiosity, which software do you use to mix? Cheers!
Thanks for the great comment, first thing you need to know is my equipment is barely capable of pulling this off, I have no sound board or anything. Second, I have a really loud voice and I am purposely trying to tone things down but I want the song and my voice to be on the same level. This video gave me so much trouble it might just be this video. I know nothing about sound drops must be YT. Funny enough I record with obs on my Dell, then I transfer through Vimeo to my Mac laptop to edit in I movie and upload from there, crazy I know, thanks for watching next stop Power Windows!!!
Not sure if he uses a DAW, but if not, he should look into Reaper. A non-commercial license is not all that expensive, and would allow him to properly set the levels on all his tracks. Reaper is still a very decent product if you don’t want to spend the money for something like Studio One (which is what I use). Mixcraft also looks like a good bargain, but I only tested it once some 8-10 years ago, so I don’t know how they fare. Cheers all!

Dude, glad you found them. I hope by now you have had the chance to go through their whole catalog.

They forced me to expand my musical horizons. I would have been happy to stay in my comfort zone but RUSH was never comfortable staying put.

I couldn’t agree more, thanks for the kind words.

That’s exactly right DF I can’t wait to get to Power windows but I just can’t get away from g/p just yet.
thanks

My biggest comment is I can hardly hear your voice.
The music comes through fine, but you are very low in the mix.
