- This large, Mid century modern home was designed and built in 1960 for a doctor and his family.
over 60 years later it sits left completely abandoned, most likely awaiting demolition.
today we take a look inside this incredible home before it’s lost forever
It makes me sad to see such a beautiful house demolished and replaced with a generic monstrosity.
It’s a disgrace to tear something like this down? Not much updating would make it a nice home. Thanks Ethan for sharing. How is your housing project going?
Nice, clean house. Obviously was well cared for. Such a shame it will be torn down.
The floors are so shiny. Love the large windows, cedar closets, neat sink in the bathroom, large rooms, it’s a shame this house was not taken care of.
I LOVE this house and would move there in a heartbeat. Other than the water damage beginning the house seemed in mint condition and well maintained. So spotless. Love the layout and the gorgeous hardwood floors. Even the basement parquet floors were like new. Love the rooms with the real wood walls. Even the entryway with the window. I really like split level homes especially spacious ones. The bathrooms were nice but would prefer vintage tiles and fixtures. I’m really into vintage light fixtures. It seems like a lot of attention to detail went into the planning and construction of this home. So sad to think of it being destroyed. Why does everything have to revolve around money and someone getting richer at the expense of a beautiful home being destroyed. Don’t think I’ll ever understand it. I really enjoyed this one Ethan. This house is amazing. Really sad that these old split level houses are being torn down.
I can't say how much appreciation I have for those that lived in this home to have taken such awesome care of it.
On a side note though WTH is up with having to tote the laundry up three flights of stairs? I mean they could have put that somewhere in with the bathroom and kitchen renovations. Such an beautiful explore Ethan, thank you ✌️

I know! Loved the massive windows and all the wood. It would be my dream home (apart from the creepy crawl spaces and bottom basement - seemed a bit horror movie basement). I'm in the UK and we don't have many houses like this 🙂

It can't have been empty long because those shiny floors and shiny black countertops would be dusty. I think you anticipate them to be spooky, from the movies you said you watch. Plus, the garden looks mowed. It's a gorgeous house. Reminds me of a 70s or 80s American sitcom house for a family show like Rosanne or something. I wish we had houses like this in the UK. Less land here, land is expensive and our brick houses are so much smaller. Wealthy or upper middle class people would only have split level houses like these on the UK 🙂 We have wardrobes too rather than lots of built in closets because our homes are smaller 😔 We kinda suck in the UK for good sized homes for affordable incomes.
I usually don't like mid century homes that much, but I love this one! The front room with the stone fireplace, matching planter and large windows is beautiful. I could see myself living in this one. Not too crazy about the creaky floors though, and the water damage is unfortunate. Too bad it will be demolished. 🙁
I remember saying like a year ago I liked the fact you took in details that the others, who've been through the same houses, missed or didn't take the time.
Please don't take this wrong, just bringing to light is all, you now take way to long in one room. You've walked through rooms for like 4+min. And I find myself fast forwarding.
I know at times you are doing it because friends are taping in other areas, but when they aren't please don't putz 😂

This a really magnificent MCM home! 🤩 I love everything about this one. The wood design details of the front entry, the windows, the fireplace, and all the high gloss wood is incredibly beautiful! It is really sad to lose this spacious beauty! ✌️

I'm absolutely blown away! Those hard wood floors are gleaming! I love the kitchen, the updated style that they chose looked beautiful! And I was thinking maybe someone that lived there had a moth phobia! Lol
My grandparents home had mothballs everywhere! If you spent a alot time there, after you leave you'd reek of mothballs! Lolol. But this home is pristine! Yes, those craw spaces give me major heebie jeebies! I always think that there's a really weird knome type dude in there!

Stunning home. Those paneled rooms were beautiful. I would have loved to have lived in a house like this with those awesome windows. The renovations weren’t awful but it’s a shame they didn’t leave the tile in the bathrooms. Great find,thanks for sharing

I really like this house. Instead of sprawling horizontally they did some of their extension vertically thus the four levels. Beautiful!!

OMG!! This is a larger version of my house!! I live in the ranch style, though. I have the same floor-to-ceiling windows with the same sheer curtains! One of my favs!!

love these mid century homes the homes of the 1960s and 1970s had a lot more style and class than what today home have to offer and being in an old 60s home you could say if the walls could talk they would tell you stories of days gone by and again Ethan thank you for another find great video and thank you for sharing this one

Hey Ethan! What is up? Another cool house! Those windows you liked that crank open are called jealousie windows. They're nice when it rains and you want outside air. I haven't seen those in a very long time. Keep on posting great finds, I love them.

Nice big house lots of solid wood in there, love all those big window but a lot of cleaning is required. Beautiful shiny real wood floor. I think that wood panelling is oak saw the grain on the wood, another nice one Ethan

I love me a sweet little bungalow with some prairie-style influences, but I also appreciate a gorgeous mid-century with the nice clean lines... We have a cousin whose house is what I would call prairie meets mid-century & it's incredible!

i love the hard wood floors and chedder closesets especialy the washer and dryer seeing how i dont have one but would love to one day instead of sharing one with 15 other familys no one is happy about that here were we live but it is what we have for now thank you for sharing keep up the good work my darlin
It would be a nightmare moving out of a house that big!!! Especially if it were filled with furniture and all the stuff for a family big enough to fill it. All that storage in the bottom rooms. It's in good condition for It's age and clean with no one living there. Amazing!!

Quiet serene feel to this house and the renovations blended in well. Who noticed that all the walls in the house looked like the same color of cream/beige, or very close to it? Makes sense, bright colors might have clashed with the wood walls and floor. I've noticed showers in the basement of mid-century homes, could be for convenience if someone had been working in the garden or garage. The robin egg blue sink in the laundry room was a souvenir of the home's past, glad the owners kept it 🙂 Thanks for the explore Ethan!
Those were called Jalousie Windows! Were very effective in creating cross breezes especially beach front properties. Only drawback was they made it very easy to break into the House.

High school friends of mine with a family of 7 kids lived in a home similar to this in the 1970s. Built likely 1968. The two oldest boys slept in the "den or office" off the living room. Nice pool in the backyard. 2.5 baths. It too was cool like this one. Ours in the neighbourhood was dull mid 60s build.

That planter in the dining room is unusual. Usually those are at the front door in Mid Century homes. It seems like it could be easily tripped over if you're not paying attention. Thank you for another fascinating video, Ethan.
