I'm super late, but a sidenote for ya'll is that Hyrule Field is actually never the same with each time it's played in the game. The measures of music are randomly combined each time you play. It's kind of like they're copy and pasting measures together randomly.
Fun fact: The original Title music for the first game was written at the very last second. They were originally just going to use Revel's Bolero. But they decided to check the copyright on it, which expired in Japan 50 years after the death of the composer. Their launch window happened to be 49 years and 11 months after Ravel's death. They'd have to delay the game and the Famicon Disk System that was launching with it by a month at the last second. So they just had Koji Kondo write a new piece and the rest is history.
Wow! Didnt know that
Thank God the composer didn't die a month earlier than they did. If that were the case we wouldn't have one of the most iconic pieces of music in the industry
@@kaejuka6249Not really... People overhype that piece of trivia. It's not as big of a deal as most people say it is. Remember that the Title Screen is essentially a slower paced version of the Overworld Theme, which had already been composed from the beginning of the project.😅
Kondo composing that piece that quickly ain't as impressive when you take that into account.
It's still a neat piece of trivia, though.
@@XanderVJ also consider that that same song is heavily inspired/influenced by the song April by Deep Purple.
Just like the last minute halo ce theme
The fact that Koji Kondo, the mad lad was able to take his Zelda 's Lullaby AND PLAY IT IN REVERSE to create a greater context to the piece just made Skyward Sword one of the coolest games in terms of Zelda lore.
I think Koji Kondo is my favorite.
That wasn't Kondo. "Ballad of the Goddess" also known as The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword's main theme was composed by Hajime Wakai and Takeshi Hama and uses Koji Kondo's "Zelda's Lullaby" or "Zelda's Rescue" as it's probably originally called as it came from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
@@jamiewilliamson9829 That's what I meant. He composed a theme so well, that in reverse it was composed into another masterpiece. I never once said Koji composed Ballad of the Goddess. I merely said that in reverse it was given greater context.
@@peterrealar2.067 You said that Kondo was able to take his Zelda's Lullaby and play it in reverse to create a greater context to the piece.
@@jamiewilliamson9829 Yes, he did. But he was not the one who composed the piece, like I said. I merely didn't have the detail of who wrote Ballad of the Goddess.
The Breath of the Wild soundtrack was actually what got me to buy an electronic piano and start my Pianote membership. That entire album is so chill.
Wow! How has your journey been so far? This is so great to read🙌
Ocarina of time is the best
Bruh, im glad you were inspired but breath of the wild is probably the most forgettable in my opinion. The best parts of its music were from other zelda games. Which I get it, it's hard to make an open world have music you won't be annoyed over 4 hours in
The molduga theme is original to BotW, and it's pretty good.
@@brenninoliphant Mipha's theme, Revali's theme and the main theme are 3 of my favourite pieces from videogames, they are just breath-taking. Then again I wasn't alive to experience most of the Zelda games, so nostalgia may play a factor. The feel in the music of botw is so distinctive, I can tell if its part of the soundtrack without knowing. Even more so with totk. The use of leitmotifs is so effective.
Gerudo Valley theme is my favorite Zelda song. The Spanish guitar technique, and the mix with middle eastern inspired lore makes it so fun
It's insane how often I've ridden there just to listen to that song before I got my hands on the soundtrack. ^^
Midnas Lament from Twilight Princess is my favorite song. It’s full of suspense, and has one of the best cutscenes from any Zelda game to accompany it.
When you mentioned "Hyrule Field", I was wondering, "Which one?" The one in Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom is minimal (yet fitting for those games) compared to the grander versions of say Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess. Some versions are a version/remix of the main theme. All are worth checking out as some are quite unique.
Zelda's Lullaby, or Zelda's Theme, made its debut in A Link to the Past along with the Fairy Fountain theme.
Nice video. Midna's Lament (from Twighlight Princess) and the Palace Theme (from Zelda 2) would have been fun to hear. Or Gerudo Valley from Ocarina of Time if you wanted to get really funky.
The zelda franchise as a whole has some amazing music. Gerudo Valley is my favorite piece, and the fairy fountain theme is a close second. So beautiful.
The N64 (both Ocarina and Majora's) had some intense limitations, which is why those melodies are so iconic!
I'd love to hear him talk about the Forest Temple background music, or the Song of Healing! Pretty sure the Healing song does a lydian dominant thing, which I think you'd both appreciate!
Oh my goddess, for the love of Hylia, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO A DEEP DIVE on Tears of the Kingdom. I swear that game, man, it goes so hard!
I love it too!!!
Totk Music is insaneeee
Oh man this was awesome! I’d love to see you guys do more like this for movie and game OSTs!!
Thank you! We really appreciate it 💚
There has to be a part two of this video. More Breath of the Wild tunes. I love the boss fight Ganon music where it starts super daunting, with like a southern Baptist church clap, then the piano goes nuts!
I would love to see a video about all the ocarina of time music. There are so many cool songs on that game. The whole game is about music!
We definitely agree! These scores are amazing🤩
Guredo desert theme is awesome from oot
So many Zelda songs have made me cry but Zelda’s lullaby’s gets me pretty much every time it’s just so good! And the fact that it sounds amazing reversed too- like wow. Also, on the topic of ballad of the Goddess, imo Skyward Sword has the best version of Zelda’s lullaby and the best soundtrack in the whole series. Imo it has some pretty underrated tracks like Romance in the air which is one of my favorites.
I started learning the piano on my own, partly with your videos (which I love!) maybe 3 weeks ago and now I discover that you like the Zelda games as well? My target for now is to be able to one day play the songs from the Zelda piano solo book. I'm so chuffed you made this video!
This is one of my favorite videos you've made! I would love to see more in the same vein of video type!!
Fantastic insightful video. The scores played along with small pills of music theory are pure icing on the cake.
Want more.
You two pals are phenomenal.
Thank you so much Marlo! 🙏
Omg please do more of these! Zelda games are absolutely filled with magical tunes
There's more music to the horse riding theme in Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom, after awhile the music changes up into the Zelda's Theme a little when you're out running the fields on the horse, but keeps the same sort of rhythm and flow of the music you hear before, I believe you have to let your horse autopath itself on a road while going fairly fast, but not like full on sprint fast, just a casual trotting speed almost.
A Link to the Past is still my favorite, partly because so many of the musical themes that still appear in newer games first show up in that game. Zelda's Lullaby, Fairy Fountain, Kakariko Village, Hyrule Castle, etc. It also introduced the Master Sword, hook shot, empty bottles you can fill with different things, etc. It's just the most definitive Zelda game.
Fav Zelda game is definitely BOTW! TOTK is amazing too but nothing can match the feeling of exploring that world for the first time!
You need to make another video! So many amazing songs!
Videos like this that help me understand why I love the things that I love, I will be forever grateful for. Thank you!
How cool must it be to be THIS good at something so you make it seem so damn effortless. I am truly jealous of anyone who can play a musical instrument with this level of ease.
YAY!!! Thank you for this sweet upload today, Pianote! I love playing and listening to Zelda music! ❤🎹✨
Thank you for watching! We're glad you like Zelda too🤩
Should’ve showed the OOT fairy fountain moments since they’re more iconic and well recognized
The Legend of Zelda and CastleVania were my introduction to video game music back in the 80's and 90's. When I hear music from either franchise it transports me back to when I was a kid
I remember playing Zelda when I got it for Christmas 1986. I was 5. I loved the game music so much I got a piano lessons for my birthday 1987 and have been playing piano since (I picked up guitar and flute along the way too)
That sound at the end of a korok also plays other times when you pick up something new. It always reminded me of that classic ditty that played when you opened chests in ocarina of time (it also appeared in other games but ocariba was where it got most recognition)
MORE MORE MORE. LOVE BOTH OF YOUR ENERGIES
Was expecting to hate this. Loved it. Loved your break down of the
Main theme and it’s evolution
aww it would have been cool to see a breakdown of gerudo valley also but this is great!
Woow, I love your energy hahaha Amazing!
Would love to see more videos looking at Zelda and other video game music. Thank you for this!
Thank you for watching! 🤩
They way he kept hitting that B Major chord at 1:21, I thought he was gonna start playing the intro to the Mako Reactor
It is interesting how videos games music has become a classic based on the popularity of the game.
In my generation there was “Pong” you just hear the ping pong ball bouncing off the wall that is it. “How exciting! And when you lose you hear a music for loser.
I must had put hundreds of quarters in the that machine just to to try to get even with that video game. The music didn’t help because it’s telling you, that you are a loser.
But music has always enhance our emotionally then we play video games.
Well done Homes &
Dr. Watson
You folks did it again. You crack another case.
👏👏👏👏
Midna's Lament from Twilight Princess is absolutely ICONIC
Best music to work to! Surprised that the main theme from ocarina of time did not make it in this video! Beautiful piece!
I'm glad you guys are diving into the Video Game music genre. I would love to see a video analysis of Dancing Mad from Final Fantasy VI
This is so cool! I would love to see song of storms and kass' theme as well!
Loved this video! Also, a video on Majora’s Mask’s music would be so cool!
This was great! You guys should totally deep dive all the Zelda games!
Man....hearing Zelda's lullaby just makes me tear up every time. What a game series
This made me tear up! Zelda's music stands the test of time ❤️ would love to see a video with whole soundtracks of Zelda especially of ocarina of time (I haven't played Breathe of the Wild yet tho!)
Wish they would have kept listening to the horse riding theme. If they would have let it play a little longer they would have heard the melody of Zelda’s Lullaby played slowly in the background on stringed instruments.
And if you listen to the horsing riding theme at night eventually you’ll hear the Main Theme melody they listened to in the beginning of the video.
We love Zeldaaa! Please do more game music reaction in the future !
Yes more zelda songs PLEASE!
We desperately need a video like this about Final Fantasy music!
PLEASE do videos on learning these songs!!
My favorite song is the Light Dragon's theme from Tears of the Kingdom. I think it's especially gorgeous when you compare it to the standard Dragons' theme, which is an absolutely beautiful piece as well.
I would LOVE to see a reaction with the main theme of TOTK that we hear in the trailer. It´s SO GOOD
@PianoteOfficial Hii! I LOVE your channel! You have the best tutorials! They are easy to follow and informative! I also Love Zelda music and video game soundtracks in general. They are actually the main reason I started playing piano, I wanted to learn all of the beautiful music that I had grown to love. It's really cool to see my favorite piano channel talk about something I love so much! I grew up on Zelda and still love playing video games and listening to their soundtracks to this day! If I could make a suggestion i think you should check out Kingdom Hearts, it has a very beautiful and moving soundtrack. Plus it's just a really good game! Some of my favorite songs from the soundtrack include: Dearly Beloved, Sanctuary (ending), The Other Promise, Vector to the Heavens, Riku's theme, Darkness of the Unknown, Naminé's theme, Lazy Afternoons, At Dusk I Will Think of You, Ventus's theme, Don't Think Twice, L'impeto Oscuro, Lord of the Castle, Destati, Another Side, and Simple and Clean (Hikari). These songs are really good, and again I TOTALLY suggest at least giving them a listen. Of course if you want to do tutorials for some of these that would be awesome! Especially Sanctuary, The Other Promise, Riku's theme, Vector to the Heavens and Dearly Beloved. I also suggest checking out the Earthbound/Mother soundtrack. It's really good and really underrated! I suggest Pollyanna, Mother 3 Love theme, and Smiles and Tears. Also the Song Strong One(masked man) from Mother 3 has a CRAZY time signature!! What crazy person comes up with a 29/16 time signature??!! Splatoon and Animal Crossing both have really good soundtracks if you can get past the.......interesting sound. I would Actually really appreciate a tutorial for Wave Goodbye from Splatoon 3 because there is no tutorial anywhere on TH-cam last I checked. Thank you so much for the amazing video!! Have a great day!!😁
I know i may be a little late, but i know a gorgeous Zelda song from Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity, it made me cry while listening to it, it's in the map selection screen, after finishing the game (or almost getting it done), there's a chance it can play in the map selection, but it's worth it.
I've found the name, its *"Overlooking Hyrule" (After the Calamity)*
The Legend of Zelda is my absolute most favorite game series. It was the very first game I ever played when I was like 6 or 7. I'm 35 now and I have so much zelda apparal as well as an ocarina with sheet music. UUUUUUGH I love it so much. I sometimes just sit in Hateno Village in Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom just to listen to the theme.
This is awesome! You should really do this for the Mario game soundtrack. All the Koji Kondo Music!
Love this songs
Being a Zelda fan, thank you for doing this video!
It was a pleasure! Welcome to our channel🎹🙌🏼
That's why I love playing piano!thank you so much ❤
Thank you for watching our video!
Zelda's lullabye is from LttP on snes
fun fact: the hyrule field theme in botw just has a bunch of pre-recorded parts on piano that intertwine together adn are played randomly
Please keep doing more Zelda themed episodes ❤
PLEASE DO MORE ILY GUYS ALREADY IM SUBBINNNGGGGG ❤
Gerudo valley from oot would be cool to see you guys do. That was one of my favourites
Would have been fun to see reactions to Ganondorf's theme, or possibly one of my favorite tracks in recent memory: the Colgera Phase 3 Boss Battle theme.
Also, I wonder if he listened to the horse riding theme a bit longer, would he recognize the melody the strings are playing?
My favorite Zelda game is Majora's Mask. You should definitely listen to The Song of Healing! It's hauntingly beautiful.
In the newest fair fountain theme from the last two games, it’s arranged exactly a la Chopin’s Fantasie Impromptu. 16th notes in the right hand, triplet 8ths in the left.
The first two 16th notes in every beat in the right hand are an octave. For the first half, the lower octave is accented, and for the second half, the upper octave note is accented. That’s what gives it the off-balance feel.
Y’all! As far as the piano goes in recent Zelda music fare, missed opportunity not showcasing Dark Beast Ganon theme from BotW! It’s crazy, epic, and just expertly executed!
So glad you did this video. Zelda is my favorite video game!
Thank you for watching! It's a GREAT game🙌
Ocarina of time has always and probably always will hold a special place in my heart. And it has one of the only truly well done masterquest versions i have ever played. Majora's mask was also a wonder. Breath of the wild, and tears of the kingdom were an experience for sure. But it still somehow felt like there was something.... missing. Though my favorite non-mainstream zelda has to be the hyrule warriors games.... and yes, i do get some glee out of being able to beat up ghirahim without fighting him AND motion controls.
Zelda is my favorite video game series. (Windwaker is my favorite classic Zelda, but the two switch ones are masterpieces).
My own piano students have learned Tears of the Kingdom’s main theme. breath of the wild’s Kass theme. Talus battle theme. Song of storms. DragonRoost Island. Good stuff!
You should absolutely do a second vid. Yall didn't even scratch the surface on all the music in BOTW. And there's TOTK now too!
I know this video is old but Majoras Mask Is very dark and rich when it comes to emotions especially songs like Oath to Order and Song of Healing. Clock Town as well making you feel so nervous.
Awesome presentation 👏👏👏👌👌👌
Thank you!
I am so impressed with this guy right now I refuse to believe this is his first time hearing this music 🤯
Nice video... I was a little sad not to see Saria's Song from Ocarina of Time... that one was really pleasant also.
Unfortunately missed out on the most iconic banger of them all, Saria's Song AKA The Lost Forest Theme. Absolutely incredible feeling of upbeat mystery.
Every song in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time is a banger. Great Fairy Fountain, Hyrule Field, Song of Storms, etc., etc..
Originally Zelda’s Lullaby theme came from A Link to the Past
Thank you for mentioning this!! So many people mistakenly think it first appeared in Ocarina of Time, and don’t realize it came from A Link to the Past! Maybe some people forgot and others might never have played ALTTP and just assumed it was from OOT. 🤷🏻♀️
I realy liked this video !!
Didn’t she say he never heard this song? And he analyzes is so completely? Amazing
doing breath of the wild and not listening to the outside hyrule castle theme seems criminal. three bars of 5/4 and a bar of 6/4 for the main line is very interesting and never seems disjointed. that, and the piano lines in it are phenomenal.
You should have looked at the BOTW hyrule castle theme. That one really slaps
11:23
Exactly, that is the sound of "I have more stuff now" from the BOTW.
I'd have liked if they listened to the music that plays when you're cooking, it even makes you stay to listen at the song even if you have the choice to skip it.
Great video! You guys should check out the music from the "Nier" video game
And from Zelda Ocarina of Time, my favorites are "Song of Storms" and "Gerudo Valley"
I love this theme song!! One of my favorites in all video games. Do yourself a favor and look up the epic version
Ocarina of Time is by far the best in terms of music. There's no question. Koji Kondo is perfect in every way.
By far my favorite
Imagine being the creator of the music and watching this video lol. He must be so proud

Got to be Final Fantasy next
It makes sense that your teacher would not be happy with you getting bad sheet music because that could actually interfere with your progress .
If the horse riding theme goes for about a minute they have a slow playing violin or some string instrument playing Zelda's Lullaby mixed in, it's genius. Also, no Gerudo Valley? O_O
Gotta do song of healing and serenade of water next
Also nocturne of shadow gives me the creeps
More please.
The OG Zelda music is legendary, but botw and tears of the kingdoms music is just such a master piece, each piece masterfully fits every mood of the game, also one I love from tears of the kingdom is the blood moon music and Zelda starts monologuing or whatever while the intense get you ready for battle sing plays
This game franchise kicked me into the direction of music in general. I probably would have never learned piano if it weren't for Link's adventures reflected into the music.
i would love to see him play the best track from legend of zelda gerudo valley love that track
