i never realized such a high score of 16,350 on beam. In gymnastics, nobody get presents- anything a gymnast earns is well deserved. And every single gymnast knows, that one day all the hard work will pay off. Nastia for Individual All Around- GOLD in London 2012!
Anyone else feel like she lost a lot of weight for Beijing. Even between this meet and the actual Olympics it looked like she had slimmed down even more. As long as it was healthy weight loss I think it's cool that she's that dedicated to her sport and making her routines look that much more beautiful.
It was in the 2008 CoP and it's oddly enough still present in the 2009-2012 and even in the drafts for the 2013-2016 CoP. It used to be considered a single and distinct element in the 2006-2008. Now it's considered a combination of two elements, and combinations do not get named after the originator.
She looks so elegant and graceful with those long legs ... I know being taller is considered a disadvantage, but I think it makes her look so much more beautiful...
@MsSavannaK I think she was in the bit where they were at a competition. She was shown on floor & bars. And I think she may have had a small speaking part.
Honestly, she was a better beam worker than Shawn Johnson in my opinion. I know people always hyped up Shawn because she did harder skills in her routine but also, a HUGE part of balance beam is having flexibility and elegance while I strongly think Shawn lacked. Nastia’s beam routine was like gorgeous ballet. Her leaps were fully extended and beautiful. Her dance elements were graceful. Her routine was always way more outstanding to me than Shawn’s.
Shawn didn’t quite have the flexibility, but her connections were quick and smooth. She was also incredibly consistent on beam. Nastia’s connections mostly should never have even been credited in most cases, and she was not the most consistent on it in many competitions. Yes, she was a world champion on it, but also tended to have problems pretty regularly too.
She’s so solid on beam but the commentators are deliberately ignoring all her faults. @0:39 she clearly had a balance check where she had to take a step back. If a Chinese did the same, they would be like, “Ohhh!!! that was a very obvious balance check, the judges should definitely penalize her for that!” Her switch ring lacked amplitude, and she crosses her legs in her dismount. Still an amazing routine though haha.
if i try her move ill probably break i suck on beam i love floor. did any name her trick ? i would call it liukin i wonder if she still does gymnastics
@fluteAHS They changed how many skills count toward the start value. I am not sure of the specifics but I think it was something like the top ten skills counted toward the start value in 2008, but now it's just the top eight skills. Less skills, lower start values, lower scores. Nothing to do with the gymnasts now vs then.
does anyone else think that how shawn and nastia are compared are like how maddie and chloe are compared (from dance moms)? shawn is the shorter brunette like maddie and nastia is the taller blonde like chloe. they are both always compared but they are good at different things
Stop talking about shawn on this video its not about her if you want to talk about shawn then go watch a video about her and comment there because we don't want to see it
Easily the best beam routine I've seen. She's got the technique of today's gymnasts, with the grace of the old ones.
Watch her pacific rim routine
For me, it's Liu Xuan -- BB EF, 2000 Olympics. BIG skills, beautiful leaps, and flawless execution!
For me Shawn Johnson's beam routine hast to be the best, she had big moves and hit them perfectly. And she was also consistent
Her toe point is crazy!
she does the best onodi

Nastia liukin is an amazing athlete! She is just fantastic.

It's called training hard
I love her style on beam
Absolutley fantastic....Best gymnast of all time!! :)
Nastia is my role model! Beam personally terrifies me but her confidence inspires me:)
No one does beam like Nastia💖
Perfection.
You can talk about Simone, Shawn, Carly, Mary-Lou, and Nadja all you want; gymnastics doesn't get more beautiful than 2008 Nastia.

The new generation has strength. She had strength, grace and elegance.
I love her leg lines and how clean and fluid it looked, but her hands always kill me. They just ruin the lines of her upper body.
I never noticed that before 😩😩 going to drive me crazy now
I like her hands ;-;
She looks so elegant and graceful with those long legs ... I know being taller is considered a disadvantage, but I think it makes her look so much more beautiful...
she is just soo flexible like her back and she has the longest legs

namjoon stan AGREEE
That’s an unpopular opinion for a reason

she is amazing
perfect stick
She really stuck the dismount here! :))
That was absolutely amazing

I did a flick/ back handspring on beam today, now I'm watching beam videos.
@BlueVegas1213 sometimes. I'm a tall gymnast aswell, and it requires a lot more flexibility on certain things, especially uneven bar routines.
The typical hand movements in gymnastics... I don't like them much. But the rest of anything Nastia does in any routine... I love it!
Nobody is excellent as Nastia was, just Victoria KOMOVA maybe.
What's the difference between night 1 and 2? Because night 1's start value was a 6.6 and night 2's start value was a 6.7
Her dismount! Excellent, just excellent!
I love that routine
could someone please tell me the difference between a tour jete and a switch leap 1/2?
if i try her move ill probably break i suck on beam i love floor. did any name her trick ? i would call it liukin i wonder if she still does gymnastics

elfie's voice....shhhhhh

@KyraaPaigee Yeah she was in Stick It.
I wonder if she was to compete with Ana Porgras (Romania), who would win? :)
Fantastic!
@MisanthropistPro Shawn Johnson depends on her powerful tumbles on the balance beam :)
I think it was 6.6 or something around that
flawless landing thats all i got to say she made it look so effortless
did she win ??
what was the dismount ??
if i try her move ill probably break i suck on beam i love floor. did any name her trick ? i would call it liukin
Nastia shouldn't have one? Just for clarification.
What was her score?
does anyone know what her start value was?
She was such a gorgeous beam worker, but she always finished way too sharp, just my opinion
whats the trick called at 0:57 ?
An Onodi
@TheEmpress666 Umm...what do you mean?
i’m still not over this and i was about a couple months old then this happened
Phat!!!! She's great
@hilst5ine she named it Liukin :)
yes, it is
@clovell99 no, she has that one thing. Whats it called again? Oh yeah, an Olympic all around gold medal.
freaking fantastic!
her best bars score is 17.1 butI don't know in which competition..
Elle a pas grossis depuis 2008 ?!
@jackileedance I think it's a onodi.
i love the thing she does with her head before she starts(:
love the onodi
roller derby should be in the 2020 Olympics.
@hilst5ine She's named it Liukin :)
Nastia does like a wolf jump if you look at this very clearly... Semenova and Nistor make that element straight ..
I admire her so much!
Stop talking about shawn on this video its not about her if you want to talk about shawn then go watch a video about her and comment there because we don't want to see it
she makes it look soo easy :|
She KILLED that dismount!
she sure does have long legs. And it is amazing that she can land a front flip on ONE leg!!
I miss the days when they would do a turn without their leg up. Has anyone ever done a double or even triple turn w/ their leg up like that?
This routine was a 16.350 (6.70A, 9.650B)
On day one she got a 16.1 (6.6A, 9.5B)
it was a 2.5 twist
love the begging
I feel like having a body like hers gives her an advantage over people like Shawn sometimes
Needs more acrobatics like Shawn Johnson.
K SIN gymnastics is also about preserving the grace and beauty of difficult tricks, and Nastia does this precisely.
Pause at 0:59 her leg looks popped out!!
I think it was a triple twist
She has the all-around silver...
waaaw!
She's only 5'3! :)
1:11
OMG 16.35/16.6!
Theres no way it is a triple or else she would end facing the beam
Her legs look beautiful! Long and strong. lol
2.5 twist
@jackileedance Onodi
at 00:10 owwwie
@raclip02 2 1/2
People are trying 'her' move. And some are doing it perfectly.
yeah female0783
She can't really do flips because her legs are so long!
its good, but she shouldn't of beaton shawn, she's too lanky.
overscored.
she is amazing
