Or just move it, and then build the new dock in front of it? I just think that you could put pilings in front on a dock, and it could be a new outdoor dock/porch combo for dining. Best of luck. It is worth preserving historic properties, you will never regret not forgeting history. Even if it costs money there should be a historic preservation grant assistance.
