- Super Stadium Demolition: A skillful demolition team must take down a massive sports stadium in the heart of Indianapolis and keep its destruction from spreading. The 60,000-seat RCA Dome sits just a few metres away from a multimillion dollar convention centre and the city's main rail line. Twelve stories of office tower windows and an out-of-date underground sewer are also threatened. CDI will have to tackle 52,000 tons of solid concrete and keep all their plays inbounds.

It’s amazing how long it takes to build something so complex and complicated but it can come down so quickly. How relatable to life this is.
How true it is! Although it still took them a substantial amount of time to tear it down but definitely not as long as it took to construct it.

This is so trippy/crazy to watch. I grew up near there and remember going to the RCA Dome growing up and I remember it coming down. Never expected to see a documentary on it

Damn! This video opens my eye about how hard it takes for building demolition and I thought before watching this video some demolitions are just placing a lot of explosive materials on the bottom of the building could have the work done, but it much more complicated than that.
Especially where the dome was located. Basically in downtown Indy. Most other stadiums are fully surrounded by parking lots which eliminates most of the issues this crew had.
The dome deflating reminds me of PE class back in my elementary school days.

These demo shows are interesting but christ. 41 minutes of BS to get to the demolition. A 23 minute episode would've been just as good.

This entire series drags out a half hour show into an hour to make the most money. They repeat parts, ramble, etc. I'd happily watch the condensed version if they didn't sound like a broken record. The ins and outs of planning are quite interesting, but the fake drama they have in every one of these episodes isn't.
Man, I have some great memories from the RCA/Hoosier Dome from when I was a kid! Watching McGrath lap the entire Supercross field a couple times, etc, lol

I dunno man, that one wasn't that hard to understand. They're illlustrating what could happen to the sewer line. The yellow pipe is the sewer line and the impact of the debris falling causes it to break, causing a flood of sewage. Seems pretty simple to me. You sure you're not just slow?

Indianapolis is the Capital of my home state and not to mention I live in the suburbs of the city, my mother works in the city county building of Indianapolis.

Don't forget that it took nine more years after it's demolition to pay off the original structure. And then pay for the new one. Sad but city's feel they have to do it. St Louis is again without football even with their Edward Jones Some, wasn't sexy enough for the Rams to stay apparently.

It's so sad we build a stadium that only lasts 25 years. They don't build anything to last. Every body wants a new, old is garbage.
They are built to last far longer, cities want new shiny too early and often, so these young facilities get replaced. Happened in Atlanta with the Ga Dome. The new stadium does something the old Ga Dome never did - it leaks when the roof is closed! :P

CDI are very good and professional. They add the "what if" to give programs more drama, like Swamp People. This company does what others fear to do.
We had a stadium called the Burswood dome or super dome very similar in design and age which to was demolished mechanically though by a local company to make way for casino car park a few years back here in Perth, Western Australia 🇦🇺 and back in the late eighties & early nineties CDI came to Perth and dropped approximately 5 buildings 🏢 🚧 I believe was the first Demoltion by the use of explosives for implosion techniques in Australia truly a great company and family business I personally rate them as the world’s 🌎 best well done CDI 👌👌 keep up the great work 💪💪

I laugh every time they go on about that rail line. That rail line is connected with 15 others. It is only used as much as it is because it is the shortest through the city, and is one of like 4 MAIN lines. It would just be a pain to reroute the trains around, and clear it for use. Indianapolis is crisscrossed by in use rail lines that either connect, or branch off of the Main lines. HA ... shut down train shipping. Yeah nah. We have waaay more preparedness, and over zoning for that to happen.

Documentaries can often make implosion video's like this one, or a regular demolition jobs way too dramatic ( as far as I'm concerned ) simply because I was in the demolition field for 30 years. CDI has a really good track record but for any job that went south, usually the only way you can only see them, would be from people who captured it on their personal iPhone, camera or camcorder, or on the 11:00 news (If they'll even show it).. I skipped through this one but hey, it was still an interesting video so thanks for posting it.

Seriously the only time I ever felt it shake was when Green Bay Came to town for MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL. IT WAS A FUN NITE. Big green and yellow beach balls comeing of the crowd. Batted back up in the air all over. Driving security nuts. Crowd loving it. Green Bay Is the most fun crowd around the NFL.
Win or lose they have a good time. No real trouble..

Nah, I grew up with the Dome. I loved it. It was spacious. The new is supremely cramped.
The only thing about the new one that is better. Is that it is easier to find your seat.

Originally the Hoosier Dome in my hometown of Indianapolis. A complete waste of money they spent to build and it wasn't even paid off.

I guess the city was built with a bad sewer system. When I went there to the convention center, there was a thunderstorm at the time and in the men's bathroom, if you wanted a toilet it came with a bidet, whether you wanted it or not; The uranals were fountains. You needed facilities on higher ground to avoid this. Luckily it only lasted the one day.
