As a teenager, I had no GOOD male role models in my life. However, I listened to every word of every song that Maurice White and EWF sang. He raised me. Then, he ‘RAISED’ me.

+Anita Merriweather Williams TRUE! Last night, I was pulling up old songs that didn't make radio rotation......they had classics in top of classics that weren't in heavy rotation. I love that group and Maurice had a voice that just fit right in pocket with the groove.

well it has always sort of been shit. there just have been exceptions. what I mean by shit is the treatment and downward spiral artists go through. however music and musical style has always changed and while you may think that modern music is bad some may think that old music is shit.

I had the pleasure of growing up watching Earth Wind and Fire form and rehearse in Chicago when I was a kid. They took me in and I learned so much from Maurice and especially Verdeen. They are the reason I became a musician.

We lost Resse the same week my son died in ‘16. My son departed to eternity on 1/31/16 and Reese went home 2/4/16. One of the toughest weeks of my life but I’m, by the grace of God, still here.

So this double album, the group's first CBS album to *just* go *gold* (if I have my EWF history right), is, to me, the official goodbye to its 70s sound. CBS was screaming for disco and EWF's first answer, I AM's "Boogie Wonderland," was a chart-topping smash. So off to the Caribbean for some in-depth doses of the groove before yielding to musical gravity with the (still good!) "Raise!"

This Group is unlike Any Band each Album from the Name the Quality of Music the Versatility whether a Ballad or Music you can dance to. Earth Wind and Fire are truly Beast at what they do. They Sing from Every aspect and perspective of life and they Sing the Truth. They are in a Class All by themselves and Nobody can take that from them. A EWF fan for Life. This LP was really the witnessing of their musicianship although guitar player Al McKay became upset because in his own words "Reese had promised me that it would be just us & then he brought in all these other people" Al McKay soon left the group as he was a single parent so he wanted to devote his time as well as raise his child, Roland Bautista soon rejoined the group, in my heart I wished they could have stayed together, they were the best Band in the Land, I saw them live in 1975 at the Nassau coliseum on Strong Island, I saw them again at the no longer exists Seattle Superdome in 1979, they disband in 1983-84, I was heartbroken because I knew that no more new albums were going to be coming but in 1987 they came back with the LP Touch The World, I was delighted, saw them in 1987 at Madison Square Garden, I next saw them next 1994 October 28th, the reason I know this because my daughter was born on the 14th that same month, I have video of my daughter in diapers dancing to Let's Groove, I basically raised my daughter on EarthWind & Fire, took her to see 'em in 1994 these ladies next to us were amazed that my child knew all the word's.🌹

I've listened to EWF all my childhood years. I liked it, but I never appreciated their music as much as I do now. I realize now that Maurice White was a sheer genius. Thank you for posting this song.
