    I've always loved this movie because it honestly feels like you're transported back to small town America in the late 50s. The casting is also excellent

    I have the Blu Ray and DVD. Gonna pass on this. The slight upgrade doesn’t justify cost to me. Gonna save my money to get Star Trek NG (another Wil Wheaton vehicle) on Blu Ray. Complete series in like only $65 now!

    Hey Jeff, nice 4K review on a great classic movie. I'm in my 50's and I'm not spoiled with todays high quality video and audio technology, so its one my favorite movies I'm going to buy the upgrade regardless without much hesitation. For years I watched movies with low quality through TV and DVD. seeing movies from back in the day on 4K is so new and refreshing. The Little Rascals restoration on Blu-ray from ClassicFlix is perfect example.

    I think when comparing the differences, the difference really boils down to the color corrections that taken place, it's quite noticeable on the closeup when they've dialed back the reds to give a better skin tone.

      I think David Fincher might be one of those directors who gets to control his home video releases like James Cameron. Also, with the Disney acquisition of 20th Century Fox, things might be more complicated.

    • @JeffRauseo
      @JeffRauseo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ^ this. Fincher has total control and needs to supervise it, so it’s taking longer as he works on other projects. I’d expect it at some point though.

      "Fight Club" would be a best-selling 4k for sure.
      Im not complaining we get great 4k releases every month ...

    • @shanerollins3736
      @shanerollins3736 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fight Club would be a Day One purchase for me. I wonder how much of a difference there would be between the DVD, the Blu-ray, and the 4K, since Fincher wanted it to have a dirty, gritty look to it.

    • @shanerollins3736
      @shanerollins3736 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also Disney is not really the best with Fox titles. They’ve released quite a few, but it’s a drop in the bucket compared to the entire Fox catalog. They just started work on Home Alone 2, which they’re doing in 4K from scratch, so maybe we’ll get lucky and get Fight Club in 2024 fir the 25th anniversary. I don’t think David Fincher is as much of a dildo about his movies like Cameron is though, so I think we’ll get Fight Club before we get True Lies and The Abyss.

    What are some of the best ways to keep track of your collection I'm currently downloading a movie poster for every title I get and then I can just browse the poster picture folder like a netflix screen or something I like it myself but just wondering what other options us peeps are using?

      There is an app called Snupps that I like to use to catalogue my vinyl record and movie collections. They have groups too, so you can find a movie/vinyl record/whatever group and share your collections and see everyone's different tastes and such, it's pretty cool!

    • @jbainbridge22
      @jbainbridge22 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @SamLovesMovies25
      @SamLovesMovies25 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jbainbridge22 Snupps doesn't work like that; it is a collection-cataloguing app so you just take a picture of your item (whatever it may be) and enter it manually. I guess that might not be what you are looking for, but I personally like that because it allows for freedom, personalization, and you can catalogue any kind of collection/items you want.

    I'm waiting for 4K titles to just be released as 4K disc only. What I mean is that most of us Phys-Media collectors already have the previous version(s), don't need another Blu-ray! That hasn't stopped me from upgrading, but there's is a needless waste of materials in getting another disc we already have.

    • @pvs18
      @pvs18 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not uncommon for the Blu-ray in catalog 4K releases to have the new master that the 4K disc is using. It's just in 1080p SDR instead of 4K HDR.

    If you already own the blu-ray copy then you don't really need to upgrade. But if you want it then wait on a sale. I went from the DVD and honestly if I didn't get the 4K version for $7.99CAD I would have been disappointed in the upgrade. Sure the picture quality and sound is a big jump but really are most average viewers going to the notice once you get into the movie?

    To me Atmos tracks aren't important especially with older films that didn't have Atmos sound to begin with I'd rather have a normal 5.1, as long as I can get the sound that the film at thw time had is fine with me I ha e a 5.2 set up and that's all I need anything other to me is overkill the overhead speakers of atmos to me is not truly necessary for film enjoyment a really good surround sound system to me is truly all that is needed
