who was Pete's teacher? who was Carl's teacher? there is so much context and nuance that is lost when it comes to art fueled by technology and more importantly social consciousness. the dj ethos of the past was rooted in unique obscurity and discovery, where as now fame and mediocrity are the pillars of art (if you want to call it that) A 20 year old cannot fathom or understand why anybody would dj if not for the attention and fame. There is a fraise that predominated dance music in the 90's and I am sure it was true in the 80's as well . . . "Its all about the music" The sad truth of today is that "its all about the fame" and again this is due to the technology that predominates society. A monkey can dj today his only set back is he has no social media presence ;)

There is one thing missing, art of djing on turntables, thats a fact that most people jump over, i believe to be a proper dj you have to spend time on your own learning playing turntables, thats where the essence is, if you can sucesfully learn that with passion, keep doing that, you are on a good track anyway, dont skip the turntables part, dont need any type of academy, just a good record shop and off you go onto your journey
