Ascot, Gardena; Manzanita, Phoenix and the original Tucson Speedway, Tucson Arizona. All were a huge part of my growing up/formative years. All three are gone now. Never to be replaced. When they closed, it was like losing an old friend. Sprint Cars, Super Modifieds, Midgets, Jalopies, Roadsters, Late Model and "Claimer" Stock cars and the colorful guys who drove them, all make for life long memories. I have been an ardent Racing Fan since I was eight years old in 1960...And, I always will be!
My dad used to take me there in the 60s and 70s... TT.. Flat track... Speedway .. Demolition Derby... Figure 8 ... Midget Cars etc etc.... Lots of action and simpler times...;-) sure wish it was still there...
I am 70 years old and remember Mr. Agajanian from my chidhood years. Even up in the Fresno area he was well liked respected and loved.I did get to go to Ascot one time in the early 80's.We had a wonderful time.
We would load up the van with a bunch of us kids , and drive here to see sprints and midgets .Grandma worked here and our Uncle raced .Those were some of the greatest nights of my life 100% .
I virtually grew up at Ascot. I have some neat memorabilia.
