Finally! I beated this game on Dolphin 5.0. This emulator so terrible for recording on Wii. Either "Wiimote 1 disconnected by software" after beating any level when recording or desync if don't restart emulator. But nonetheless I liked this game, which I hadn't played for 6 years.

If you look at the ferris wheel in the background of Casino Street Zone _really_ closely, you can see that it says “Sonic the Portable”, which was the original name for this game before it got shoved onto all the major consoles of the time. For some reason that really cracks me up.

For me it's the slow animations and slow overall feeling that ruins the game mainly. But the music isn't helping either. The graphics otherwise is decent but a bit steril. That's why I can agree with you on your comment. When its speedrun by TAS, it feels quicker and more alive.

A really quick Spindash momentum up the small incline to a quick jump input while possibly holding back on the directional input. That's my guess anyways. I used to do similar stunts in Sonic 2, 3&K.

Ngl, I've only actually played Splash Hill Zone so far but I honestly kinda like this game from what I've played, especially time-attacking, that's honestly rather fun in this game. Like yeah, I know the physics are hardly at all like the classic games, but with me being first and foremost a Mario fan who just also plays Sonic (mainly the 2D games), that's not really an issue for me because I'm used to each game in a series having its own different physics as is the case with Mario, very few Mario games at least until the NSMB series' sequels had the same physics as other Mario games. So I view this game's physics in kinda the same way I do with Mario games, where the fact that it's pretty different from the classics and the means by which you go fast isn't the same as them doesn't really bother me any more than the fact that the NSMB games have different physics and moves from the original NES and SNES Mario games, which themselves each had different physics and moves from each other.
So this whole complaint I constantly see in the Sonic community about basically any 2D Sonic game (from what I can tell) not having exactly IDENTICAL physics and playing the exact same way as the classics just seems a bit odd to me coming from the Mario series, ngl. I don't see anyone in Mario demanding that current 2D Mario games have the exact same physics as SMB1 or SMB3. Heck, the number of games that DO successfully have the same physics as the classics in Sonic is a bit surprising to me since it's MUCH more than in Mario's case, but impressive (especially in Mania's case, since I'm pretty sure the original 4 classics all basically shared the same codebase, while Mania does not).
Just taking this for what it is controls-wise, I think it's fine on its own even if it's different, would be nice if the roll like actually gained you speed when going down slopes, which it doesn't seem to from my experience, but other than that I don't have much of a problem. I know they can sometimes be a bit janky, and the physics sometimes decide to basically not exist, but in actual play when you're moving, especially at high speeds, those issues rarely come up and/or matter. Yeah as a "Sonic 4," a follow-up to 3&K, I can see where the game is rather lame and falls flat, especially with how all the locales are just rehashes of Sonic 1, but just as _a_ Sonic game on its own, especially as a simple WiiWare title (which is how I'm playing it) it seems perfectly fine to me; generic and unoriginal perhaps, yes, different from the classics in how Sonic's physics work, yes, using the modern designs rather than the classic designs, yes, having a 2.5D artstyle instead of 2D spritework or something, yes, but...that's basically just a Sonic equivalent to a New Super Mario Bros. game in that regard, the NSMB games arguably do all 4 of those things with Mario, though admittedly they do those things much better than Sonic 4 Ep. 1 does; Sonic 4 Ep. 1 is obviously basically just a small budget game while the NSMB games are not. But outside of the title (and it wasn't even supposed to be called Sonic 4 originally lol) it seems completely inoffensive to me and fairly fun (honestly more fun than Sonic 1 for me so far based on just the first zone, at least when it comes to Time Attack, though maybe the level design of the following zones absolutely sucks and is horrible for all I know lol).

I actually like the visual concept of a Sonic game with cel shading. And thinking about it, the game looks like it would have been pretty good had Dimps and ST been given more time.
In the beta version of Sonic 4, the cel shading is visually better. The only downside is that it sometimes sparkles the whole stage.

It’s a TAS. No actual human was playing it. He plugged in which buttons were pushed on which frame and then the TASbot executed those actions.

I beated the Game Like 1 Month? Collected all the Chaos Emeralds Aswell i gaved Up on episode II because getting the Chaos Emeralds are hard asf but i completed the game without the chaos emeralds so yeah thats a neat

Why the special stage music is more a song before bed ?
The Sonic 1 Special Stage music was annoying to hear, tbh.
Yeah,I hate to say this but the Sonic 4 special stage music is more better,Calm and actually good unlike that loud dream version in Sonic. It's still a remix of Sonic 1 special stage so I have to give credit where credit is due
