    Hi Holly, I’m in the process of building a permanent vegetable garden with a small orchard… your videos have been a source of information for me as I live in Port Kennedy close to the beach… Sand, Sand and more sand 🙄…. I make my own compost.. thank you for the inspiration 👌

    We live in Steytlerville South Africa (Karoo region which is very very hot and extremely dry). Our average rainfall is less than 50ml per year. It is a real struggle to keep things alive and growing, so thank you for your tips. It will be 42 degrees here in the next 2-3 days which is super hot for not-yet-peak-summer... I am dreading the full heat since I also moved here from a cooler, wetter area.
    Thanks again for the share and keep up the amazing gardening. Gardening was God's blessing for humankind from the very beginning.

    I live in SW Florida, and our weather is tropical and hot in the summer. I do all of these tips you shared to keep my garden alive in the summer.

    Spring here in Melbourne has been a shocker. It’s been so so cold, has been limping my seedlings along, sadly all my tomato’s, pumpkin, peppers all died. Compared to last year what a disaster. Had to get rid of the seedlings and go to Bunnings and buy some. So take two planted out veges will have to see how they go ❤😊 I’m hoping it will be a long summer so we can have tomato’s

    Very timely, after seeing the Perth weather forecast for this week. This summer is predicted much like last year (which fills me with trepidation garden wise).

    Wait wait wait! You've got those beds on wheels? Have you done a video on making them?
    Sorry, I'm fairly new to your channel, so probably missed it.
    Man, I envy you over there in the West. I don't think we've had more than the odd day over 25 so far in Melbourne.
    Thanks for the info Holly.

    Those moveable planters look pretty useful. Good idea. It would be good to get a look at the wheel size and how you strengthened the bottom for the soil weight.

    Just started watching your fantastic videos and have subscribed. We live in NOR/eastern suburbs. Going to Bunnings now to buy some shade cloth to prepare for the hot weather this week. We have started preparing a new garden bed 3m x 6m SE facing the road, with some dappled shade from a peppermint tree behind it. Hoping to plant Washington navel and a Eureka lemon tree there. What veges would you suggest we plant there as well? Would watermelon and pumpkin be suitable? Thanks for all your useful tips.

    • @SustainableHolly

    Holly how high are your shade structures over the vege gardens. Are the shade cloth sides the north and west sides of the gardens?

    • @SustainableHolly
      @SustainableHolly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The large side is North and the shorter side is east. So protects morning and midday the house blocks a little too so they get direct sun in the late arvo from the west. Roughly 1.6m from the soil.

      Are they secured to the garden bed or just free standing and dug into the dirt
