Anybody from any field can go into banking in Nigeria, but you have to have 2.1 or first class and need to be young o. The 4 months training is always very intense and you'll learn alot during that time, the rest you learn on the job.
I studied Communications and worked in the bank too, I also started as an executive trainee then in 2012. So our young people in the University should pls strive to have 2.1 at least.
That pressure part that she mentioned is very truuuuueeeeeeeee

In all this wonderful explanation of Neze, i still have problem with two references before one can open a current account in Nigeria, to me that should have been outdated by now, it is irrelevant in today's banking world, because i can't see the correlation between the two. Are the referral going to be responsible for anything done by me in the cause of operating the account?
I think the banks should come together and push for the repeal of that law, it hinder people from opening current account, by the way who refer the first person to open a current account in Nigeria?

This is a much needed topic. You may never see this but i have to ask just incase. There are many trading apps these days that you can trade: Cryptocurrencies, Commodities Indices, etc, that are already accessible in Nigeria without bank involvement. Does this new law mean that you are no longer allowed to trade on these apps or is your usage be limited. And what if you already have the crypto before returning to Nigeria. Nigeria wahala is too much.

I have a question for Neze ooo. Why is it always VERY DIFFICULT for Nigerian banks to pay someone his /her money in foreign currency. E.g when one travels abroad and return with some dollars, pounds, euros etc and pay such money into your dom account in Nigeria. When next you want to travel and go to the bank for that same money you deposited, hmmm it's like planning to embark on a journey to sambisa forest why?

There is an ongoing trend in Nigeria now where money sent from abroad to receiver in Nigeria are being devalued at the exchange market due to the year the money was printed. For instance if the exchange rate is 470 naira to a dollar, one with 2013 on it will be exchanged for 465 compared to one with 2019 on it. It sounds so ridiculous but it’s happening. Has any other person experience such? Meanwhile, thanks for the amazing discussion in your platform.

I have experienced it even before leaving Nigeria in early 2000. The last time, I had to go back with part of the money that I came with. Nigeria is such a funny country, the USA that owns the dollar don't discriminate against the dates on their bill. It is indeed ridiculous!
