Tom Morello's incredible solo is definitely perfect. Even the tiny error or two I noticed, doesn't matter. The rest of it is so incredibly good it's perfect. The beauty in how he plays, the nuances, the way he rides the effects mixed with how he's playing to create some perfect layers that sound awesome. Very fluid and amazing. Incredible guitar playing at its best.
There are very few people that could write lyrics like Bruce Springsteen. There are few people that can make a guitar talk like Tom Morello. Together, a match made in rock heaven.
Mindyou ol Bruce has a few mean licks in here too. I'm distinctively hearing pinch harmonics in there, and that is a seriously difficult technique to pull off reliably (I say that as 30+yr guitarist who used to teach). Both great world class artists here, would have been a great show to see. Tom Morello with Bruce and E Street band, what a combo! edit: Holy shit Tom's solo at the end is wild.
Morello's love of Springsteen shines on his singing so much. What an dream playing with one of your idols and legends. Listen to Morello talk about how much of a fan he was of Springsteen.
I'm 53, I grew up with Bruce, "Born in the USA" an awesome anthem, But I think this video showed me who he truly was. And I love Tom too, he gives a lot to charity, They both care and want to save us.
I saw Bruce perform this accoustically at an old theatre in Melbourne on the Tom Joad tour. From the moment Bruce sung the first line, I was blown away by the emotion and power of his voice. This takes this song to another level..The Boss is The Man!
The Boss' version shines a moral light on the indignities of our shitty system. RATM's version reminds us a hungry people will not stay hungry for long, and anger is a gift! (lyrics from two other RATM songs)
Sadness is a tool of the Devil. Staynd is a horrid example. Sad songs are there to depress us. The Devil wants us to feel sad, fearful, anxious, etc....
I remember watching this on TV I just put my girls to bed , and was utterly blown away by it I just lost my younger brother a couple of weeks before it was midnight or so, I got my daughter's up and replayed this , they were three, and four dancing there little butts off we screamed, laughed and danced there thirteen and twelve now . When I play this they ask me if I remember that night ... Divorced now but yes I will always remember. Beautiful masterpiece Mr. Springsteen , Tom Morello killed it
I've been a Springsteen fan since first witnessing the magic live in 1976. Then 6 years ago, I took my 8 year old granddaughter to see them live and this song blew the roof off the place. My granddaughter's first concert will last forever in her memory.
@@selfish-perverse-n-turbulentIt's the perfect one-two punch combo. Bruce' writing gets your soul soaring, and once you get to Morello for the finish, you're ascending into space.
It really is magical. I'll never forget the moment I saw this on HBO years ago. I even remember how sunny it was that day the memory is so clear. I was just randomly watching the Rock and roll Hall of Fame concert on HBO enjoying the music but this song came on and I was absolutely floored. It was incredible. I knew right away it's one of the most incredible things I've ever seen in music. His skills are phenomenal. It's just stunning. Emotionally he hits all the right beats with the solos. The tone is incredible. The solos are so emotional and take you on a ride and it's thoroughly enjoyable. Even the back and forth with Bruce, the other band members watching him in amazement. If people only see one song Tom Morello has played, this is the performance you show them. He's absolutely incredible here.
i genuinely get choked up every single time i hear that second solo. the whammy pedal harmonics is straight out of a ufo. so so so beautiful. that’s why tom’s one of the best
I was listening to Howard Stern's interview with Tom Morello and Howard couldn't compliment him enough and Tom Morello sounded like his life became complete performing with Bruce. Just awesome seeing these two guys just killing it!!!!
I can't imagine how good it must feel to perform Springsteen's song with him and then be encouraged to absolutely slay it and elevate it even further by the guy himself.
This has more relevance now than ever before. Two legends who have a common ground. You need to put earphones on to hear the bass drums acoustic guitars truly amazing.
Gary Tallent is definitely an underrated bass player. Always locks in with Max perfectly, lays down just the right fill for just the right amount of time.
Sound is clearly remastered! I listened this maybe thousands times but this video's sound is brilliantly different. All instruments are audible. Perfect!
WOW! That was f'n amazing! So powerful. I've followed Bruce since his first album, loved it when he matured and began sharing thoughts and expressions of more adult themes, touching on social justice and equality. Loved the way he framed his characters on backdrops of slices of life. He's become the true voice of the American landscape, our struggles, our accomplishments, our hopes and our potential. This is Bruce at his most powerful. And Morello from Rage Against the Machine, a perfect sideman to Bruce in every respect. Loved it.
Stellar performance, and man oh man, Tom made that guitar wail and scream. The E-Street band was at the top of their game; they know how to bring it! Thanks for posting this, both the audio quality and the visual gets 5 stars and 2 thumbs up.
I’ve seen Bruce and Tom play this live once and Tom play it live solo twice and it’s always electric! All times we’re with my dad who thank god gave me great taste in music and Bruce! ❤️
The audio is remastered in this recording. I’ve been revisiting this song for years and I’ve heard instruments and imperfections that ive never heard. Forever blown away. I was 9 watching this live. 22 now.
Incredible. Man, what a difference from the version on the album of the same name (1995). Bruce can do that with almost any song. He can play the classic, "Incident on 57th Street" (1973) as on the album. I'd call it soft rock. Acoustically, alone on the piano or guitar. Or as a full band anthem. And they're all great. I hope he's around for a long time, but when he's gone, it'll be a hundred years, if ever, before there's another Bruce Springsteen.
Omg I think about that day and I know I won’t be able to handle it . I already told my work I’m not coming in ! Definitely not for a few days. And there will never ever be another I guarantee you that
I had never heard this version until they played it at the NZ concert at Mt Smart - I was absolutely blown away and at the end I was screaming ‘play that again!’ Brilliant ❤️😎❤️
Bruce, thank U for your transparency in sharing your intimate heart.. Takes courage! Not too many willing! Esp. in limelight. according to spirit of this world. Can relate . Guess who were sitting with Him at Sermon on the Mount? EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Esp. every disorder.. He came to those who needed a physician. He said so. He told those who said they "saw". they were BLIND!!!!
Of all the performance on youtube, this is one of my favorites. Great song. Obviously, Morello is fantastic, but also muscular lead playing from Bruce. What a performance!
5:46- end of solo...imagine being 5 and hearing this. That was me 10 years ago and the day i heard that and saw that part whete Tom going crazy with 1 hand made me love rock and guitar for the rest of my life.
Same exact thing for me too. I was 10 years old when this first aired. My parents are huge Springsteen fans so they let me stay up late to watch with them. And much like you I can specifically remember the moment of the song that made me fall in love with rock and roll guitar.
Tom Morello is a beast on that guitar. And I kind of forgot how good Bruce is with the guitar. The lyrics in this song are so fucking POWERFUL. IT'S WHY HE'S THE BOSS WRITERS FOR THE EVERYDAY JOE
I don't know what's more surprising to me in this rendition: those guitar solos by Bruce, or the singing by Tom. I haven't seen Bruce doing many solos at all, I guess usually those are the moments for Steven or Nils to shine. And of course we all know Tom can do crazy stuff on the guitar, but he actually has a pretty distinct voice and style of singing, that fits this song perfectly. But still, every guitarist on that stage must be wondering how on earth he is creating those sounds :-)
@ 3:45, "When you Love what you Do." "What you've become." Respect to Tom Morello, Rage Against The Machine, of course Bruce and E Street. Classy of Bruce's other two top guitarists not to feel threatened. Just in the groove of it like everyone else.
I saw them perform this in Raleigh 2014 front row as I was fortunate enough to be on the band’s guest list and lemme tell ya: IT WAS A-F’N-MAZING!!! The smile on my face was much like an uncontrollable giggling schoolgirl!! You could feel it everywhere in the building I kid you not! 😊☺️🤗
Tom Morello was born for this moment. @ 2:05. Scintillating. Surprised. That the entire stadium didn't explode. Literally. KA-BOOM!! (for having too much collective Fun)
One of the best live clips ever going got to love an old piss ant Bruce Springsteen giving his all, for such beauty and truth in standing for a man’s soul, and Tom Morello also rocks.
Heads are literally EXPLODING around the arena - the MOMENT Bruce and Tom close-the-thing-out -- astonishing. How can something BE this good, makes no sense.
This might be one of the greatest moments in rock and roll history. 8 minutes of absolute perfection
lmao u trippin back to the docks with you.
Tom Morello's incredible solo is definitely perfect. Even the tiny error or two I noticed, doesn't matter. The rest of it is so incredibly good it's perfect. Yes, but Bruce is a DICK. I hope someday he needs the help of police and they tell him F off
I can't tell you you how many times I've watched this but I can tell you that everytime...EVERYTIME...I teared up!!! OMG! Perfection!
Without a doubt.
If Bruce´s song is a masterpiece, with the collaboration of Tom Morello it became absolute ecstasy.
Hell yeah! Way too many homeless people in America.
Intense and epic performance! Morello really elevates with his guitar riffs, and Springsteen dials it up, too! Powerful 😳

Every two or three years I find myself looking this performance back up. Awesome collab.

Just noticed what a great bass part this song has! All in all, a fantastic piece of music.
Yeah, this is the most noticeable bass playing I've heard in any Springsteen song
I saw Bruce perform this accoustically at an old theatre in Melbourne on the Tom Joad tour. From the moment Bruce sung the first line, I was blown away by the emotion and power of his voice. This takes this song to another level..The Boss is The Man!
This solo still makes me cry. Music can be so goddamn heavy on the heart, man.

to quote Master Bob Marley "One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain." Morello absolutely slayed this.

I watch this exact episode repeatedly.
Great music 😂❤
Every time I come back to this version of the song, I find myself in tears.
I've been a Springsteen fan since first witnessing the magic live in 1976. Then 6 years ago, I took my 8 year old granddaughter to see them live and this song blew the roof off the place. My granddaughter's first concert will last forever in her memory.
Every time I listen to Tom's solo I always think back to that scene in B2TF.
"I guess you're not ready for that yet, but your kids are gonna love it"
Exactly!
The Boss' lyrics make me somber. Tom's solo gets me pumped. And you made me laugh. Perfect.😂
@@selfish-perverse-n-turbulentIt's the perfect one-two punch combo. Bruce' writing gets your soul soaring, and once you get to Morello for the finish, you're ascending into space.
They both got me thinking about being at Universal for some reason. Gonna go there in 2 days.
Pure Magic
Stunning. One of best live performances of all time. Great bass playing. Dude just ties it all together.
Tears of joy flowing down my face. That's pure magic.
