Dropped out in 2012. Took a internship as a Windows Admin. Challenged myself to learn Linux and changed my life. 10 years later I work on SuperComputers without a degree. Amazing content sir!
💯 You have an inspiring story man, keep sharing it with others. People need to know that academic success doesn’t = professional success. These types of career are legit life changing. Thanks for the support man
I promise this is true. I ran from linux for years as a Systems Engineer. i just landed a Linux SysAd spot and I'm more excited than the cloud offers I had, because YOU WILL RUN INTO LINUX no matter how much you run. So might as well master it. And you become soooooo rare in the industry
@@dchan9190 after getting my A+ cert I got the CompTIA Linux+ cert and that landed me a job as a Linux administrator, a few years of focus, dedicated nights trying new things and having fun with docker, kubernetes, Jenkins, and a few more certs in AWS and Linux Professional Institute got me here. Linux is my passion so the long nights learning were more fun than gaming
🙏🏾 Thanks for the kind words bro! I'm glad you enjoyed it. 2024 is the year the channel blows up - Im going to help a lot of people take that next step in their career.
I am a military retiree and career changer in my mid 50's. I have a bachelor's degree and have completed several MyComputerCareer programs. I'm still having issues landing high-paying roles or getting hired by organizations where I can move up. After finding and watching this episode, I'm all in on Yellow Tail Tech. I've accessed the website to learn more and booked a call. Although this is the first episode I've watched, it gave me a reason to subscribe to cuSTEM Journeys. I hope Yellow Tail Tech offers virtual training so I can attend from Texas and cuSTEM Journeys brings them back.
🙏🏾Thanks for subscribing, Aubrey. My goal is to help people have a successful tech career. I imagine the process of finding a high paying role is frustrating but keep working at it and you will find the right opportunity. I think you’ll like the yellow tail program - let me know if you end up enrolling. I’m based in Houston, TX hit me up on LinkedIn (Andrew Baines), and I’ll do my best to send you any events in the area that I think you should check out
I've learned over the past 2 years that the way to get a significant raise (10k or more) in this industry is to hop to another company. Increase by 10-20k each time you job hop.
Thanks for the information. I went through the enrollment with Pete and he is absolutely amazing. Signing up for this program this evening to start in June. Switching careers is nerve wrecking but I’m super excited.
I think tech is a great career, otherwise I wouldn't have been in it for almost 20 years. With that said, I think the lifestyle that accompanies tech is a bit toxic. Late/long hours, weekends/on-call, production "support", sitting all day leads to back and neck issues, and more. I moved from support to admin to devops to cloud, and I am happy where I am, but even with all that movement and progress and working fully remote... I somedays wish I just became an electrician and moved around more and had more autonomy. That would lead to a longer life, healthier body and healthier mind, just my 2 cents. Some advice I generally give young people is: 1 - keep growing and learning otherwise you will get replaced. 2 - stand up every 45mins for 5mins, 3 - do not work on a "on-call" or "weekend support" schedule, 4 - when they stop valuing you or you get bored and aren't learning, start applying.
good motivation. currently learning RH Linux to help me get a cloud role. I have a few years of networking engineer experience. Hopefully i can land at least a cloud analyst role before the summer.
Really!? I need to look into it then. I lived in Albuquerque one summer and enjoyed the outdoors and being outside of a big city. Also, land in Houston is getting harder to come by

Is there a guarantee you get a job or your money back? All these programs are always more than community college with actual degrees.
