  • In this video I replace the fuel pump, clean the fuel injectors and get the bike running for the first time in many years.
I purchased the replacement fuel pump from All Balls Racing: www.allballsracing.com/47-203...

Good morning Jim. I really like your videos. Can you do a video on changing the timing belts on your Ducati S2R? I really like the way you walk through what you are doing. Thanks for all your videos!

Thanks for the video. I have an ‘08 S2R1K and have changed my fuel filter a few times as well as rebuilt the fuel pump assembly on an old M620 but didn’t know what was underneath the spring washers on my fuel pump. Nice to know you can get to it if needed. Your vid is in my arsenal for future work if the fuel pump goes. Very well done and you also have a beautiful bike. They are riding perfection!
    THANKS!

Glad I stumbled across this video….I’ve just bought an S2R 1000….better than reading the workshop manual!

Just bought an old Monster 1000ie, needs a full belts service, and tyres are 10 years old but otherwise lovely condition and for a 16 year old bike only 5700 miles. Looking forward to enjoying another Monster. Thanks Jim.

I’m having an issue with my 620 that’s built super similar, it will turn on for a few strokes max and it won’t rev up what so ever, trying to rev it sometimes makes it die faster, but I couldn’t figure out where the fuel injectors were or at first if it was even fuel injected, I haven’t got it fixed yet but I am sooo happy I found this video!!!

Thanks for the video Jim. Just bought a 2002 900 IE, which is running fine btw. Always nice to know how Ducati does things.

Thanks for the video! Considering buying an S2r with a fuel level sensor issue so seeing your video actually helped in seeing how I would go about replacing that part, thank god much easier than your whole pump re-build! Waiting eagerly for your valve check/adjustment video! Great content!

Great video! i am having the same issue with my 2005 s2r. I was wondering where you ordered the fuel pump and filter?

    Hey Jim
Your video was right on time.
Thanks for taking the time and explain what you are doing.
I am bring a Monster 620 back to life (10 yrs sitting) and this was very helpful.
Is there any electrical connection(s) that should be checked before you get too the fuel pump.
This is to make sure it is the pump & not something before it?

Hey Jude (I never thought I would use that song lyric as an actual introduction, LOL). You can check voltage at the fuel pump connection under the tank. There should be 12v there for about 10 seconds after you turn the ignition on and while cranking. But I suspect if the bike has been sitting with fuel in it for that long, the pump assembly is junk.

Hey Jim,and thanks for the great walkthrough. What size hose clamps did you use? I'm having trouble finding ones that are small enough. I found some that are the same type (fuel injector hoses) but they are too big. Thanks for your reply.

Hi Jim, I have an 07 800. Did the starter disengage after you fixed the pump? I’m having a similar issue on the one I just got. Thanks for the video. Very helpful!

    • @daytonagrayghost
      @daytonagrayghost  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

What do you mean disengage? No, I had no change in the way the starter operated before and after the pump change. Remember the start button is not actually connected to the started. The start but just sends a start request to the computer which controls if, when and for how long the starter is engaged.

@@daytonagrayghost I didn’t know it was the computer... I was having an issue with the starter still being engaged when I released the starter button. I figured out that all 4 wires to the fuel tank were pulled out. I have no idea how that happened. I replaced the wires and everything worked. Only thing now is that the right turn signals flash after I turn off the bike… strange things, but they are beautiful bikes. Thanks!
