    Perfect explanation. I have learnt the process from my own Fractionation still, and I love the way you have explained it. The production of alcohol is a very simple process when using a Fractionation still. My output (for the last 8 years) has always been 94.5 percent. And the liquid which I drink, either that which I have put through may carbon column, or that which I drink straight, is magnificent. Thanks for the video. I will keep a copy to show my friends. Cheers.

    While doing the material balance, F (feed)= L (reflux) + D (distillate) here when we apply component balance for the highly volatile component we get FxF = LxL + DyD. So, actually, the reflux is just a condensed stream of the distillate so it will be just a physical split right so, will that mean xL = xD always?

    • @medoKhatat
      @medoKhatat  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We can't apply the material balance for the feed like this. Your mentioned material balance is for the rectifying part, where V (Vapour of the overhead product) = L(Reflux)+ D (Distillate).
      We cannot apply this for feed, because the operating line of the feed depends on its enthalpy, hence, part of it might go up as vapors, and part of it might go down as a liquid

    In batch distillation, the head and tail contain undesirable components, what happens in the continues distillation?

    • @medoKhatat
      @medoKhatat  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The advantage of continuous distillation is that you can make side withdrawing of the product at any stage, top, middle, bottom, etc, to get rid off the undesirable component at any stage , the product at that stage can be fed to more refinery stages (eg: Cracking, Isomerization, treating, reforming, etc)

    I want to know what is the meaning of adsorption ??? Thank you for this valuable information, Mr. Ahmed💖💖💖

    • @medoKhatat
      @medoKhatat  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Adsorption is similar to absorption process, but in the absorption the material absorb on its surface (like activated carbon that absorb fumes). adsorption is always related to a solid material that adsorb fluid (gas or liquid) the adsorption process is physical process (reversible), but if it irreversible it is normally known as (chemisorption). Hope you find it useful

    If it physical separation in the condensor then why is the mole fraction of reflux changing

    • @medoKhatat
      @medoKhatat  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mole fraction changes along the column, as you go up the fraction of the more volatile component increases, and as you go down, the less volatile component increase.
