    I’m a 70 yr old gray hair CGM follower. I’ve used homemade mask with aloe vera out of my garden. It brings beautiful shine and moisture to my coarse gray hair. Gonna try this, Courtney! Thanks for your entertaining and informative videos!

    I've used 100% aloe gel for my hair gel for years and I absolutely love it. It's cooling, great on the scalp + mix in some rosemary EO. it's great for your face too. Sometimes I'll mix it with my leave in and a bit of water as well🧡

    The reason why you have your hair sticking to the back of your head as you have complained about in other videos is because when you are bent over and applying your products you're putting a huge amount of the product on the back of your head and on the inside hairs instead of on the top of your head and on the back of your head on the outside hairs where it is needed the most and happens probably because you are in the upside down position. In order for you to get the best results from your products you should stand up straight and apply them. I've been dealing with curly hair and styling it with different products since the '80s and I have learned this the hard way myself by trial and error. Plus before I use a diffuser on my ends I use the concentration nozzle and I do the roots first and use the concentration nozzle on the warm and cool real close to my scalp that way the hair is trained not to lay flat. I do the standing up or my head upside down using the concentration nozzle. That also prevents your hair from sticking to the back of your head.

    my waves have been struggling to really clump lately and I haven't had an actual hair gel in my routine in a good while, so I figured I would test this out. The aloe gel I used wasn't 99% by any means, it's one that I picked up from the dollar store, but my hair is currently drying and my hair has properly gotten big clumps for the first time in MONTHS, so I thought I would note that.

  • @curlymjger

    For me, AVG doesn't work as a styling gel. I use it after my wash routine as the first layer, from scalp to the ends. Let that sit for 5-10 min and then go on with my leave in and styling gel.
    It works absolutely awesome this way, my hair is moisturised, there's less frizz and refresh's are much easier 😁

    Amazing! I actually use aloe as my leave-in in winter (I find it impossible to find a leave-in without glycerin, which my hair is super sensitive to, in my area) and it works wonders! It was also the first soft hold gel I've ever used on my waves but it really doesn't last more than 6 hours on my hair, I'd say. My hair is super similar to yours, Courtney, I just have a lower density. For anyone who needs this info!

    Im glad that Courtney made me experiment to use aloe Vera on my hair. Because it’s made me confused when mane by mell said that some low porosity hair will feel fast drying on their hair when they use aloe Vera.
    Any how My past experiences when I use aloe Vera with alcohol ingredients on dry hair or little damp made my hair super dry also greasy when I play wrong way after the gel and still my hair damp 😅(ya never doing that again)
    As for my low porosity hair it’s work fine when I style it wet hair using cream then glaze aloe Vera on top as a gel but without drying alcohol .
    However I experiment only indoor. if I go outside with high humidity it will not stay hold longer on my hair. At day two I have halo fizz with no cast.
    I use aloe Vera 92% form miniso
    I’m glad that my hair love aloe Vera. I got scared that I have to find Aloe Vera free products. It made my hair sooooo soft with so much bounce and little shine.
    I have medium density and corse hair.
    I hope this comment help a lot of u to try whether it work or not.

    Thank you for reviewing this product! I've been puree-ing my own aloe leaves with great moisturizing success both used pre-poo with a heat cap and after conditioner (sits on hair 5 minutes followed by little vinegar spray to seal it in...slip is mega!). Nothing is better for sunburn than a glass jar of frozen aloe, but it's wonderful to have a recommendation for a prepared product! Thank you for your videos. Good luck on the mermaid hair. :) Mine is to my navel...but I started transitioning with it that way 18 mo. ago. You can imagine the mess...and the progress.

    • @SwavyCurlyCourtney

    • @alicedehepzibah
      @alicedehepzibah 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm just barely starting to experiment with products now, so not much experience with leave ins, etc. The aloe works as an okay styler for flexy rods, though. Here's the unexpected thing: recently I've discovered that coconut/avacodo/or grapeseed oils combed into dry hair, followed by lots of aloe, topped with heat cap...IS AMAZING! I thought for certain oil/water would interfere with themselves for no avail, but it worked for me incredibly!

    Super interesting that only 1 person had the adverse reaction to aloe as gel! I have often wondered if people who think they are sensitive to something (aloe and coconut seem to be the two most common) are really certain that is the problem or not. I know when grain-free pet foods became popular a lot of people started to suspect that their dogs were sensitive to grains but studies have shown it's really rare for dogs to be sensitive to grains and grain-free dog food is not as healthy for most dogs. So I've wondered if similar things occur in other communities like our hair community.

    Is there an easy way to tell what is a protein and what is a moisturizing ingredient, a list somewhere? I used to use henna to dye my hair (mixed with other stuff including aloe), and I kept hearing how moisturizing both ingredients were and how people's hair just felt so great after using them but personally? My hair felt dry and coarse after using. Then I read henna was a protein treatment? (Question mark because I'm not an expert so not 100% sure if that was correct.) My hair (seems to) like moisture and very, very little protein, as far as I can tell. I eventually quit (for multiple reasons not just the way it felt dry after using) and started using oils on my hair instead, but I've heard some oils are proteins.

    That's interesting. I actually use aloe gel to reshape my natural hair makeup brushes after washing them.

    Courtney, your hair looks so pretty, just like you. I am going to try the aloe vera experiment on my wavy/curly hair. What style do your ask your hairdresser for? Is it very long layers with a bit of shaping around the face? Which part of America do you live? My family and I live in the United Kingdom. X

    Can you use other types of aloe Vera? Doesn’t have to be that brand?

    • @SwavyCurlyCourtney
      @SwavyCurlyCourtney  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doesn't have to be this brand. I would get as close to pure aloe as possible, no other ingredients.

    Here’s a question I bet you thought you’d never get asked. I have aloe gel that I drink (mixed with water). Could I use that on my hair? 🤔

    • @alicedehepzibah

      You can try it and maybe with good results. Aloe itself is very high in h2o content already. If I had some of your stuff I'd wonder if it would make a good spray.

      @@alicedehepzibah Hi Jennifer. Do you mean a spray to use for next day refresh? If so, that’s something I definitely could try.

      @@maryc6091 I think different ways of using it would be worthwhile. I didn't mean anything specific. But if something works that you like, please share!

    I don't know why I laughed out loud at this video title. Maybe it's because I often use products on my hair that are marketed for the face - especially hydrating mists. I notice my hair loves aloe - so WHY NOT! Whatever works!

    I think most people who say my hsir doesn't like aloe etc aren't using proper aloe products, they're using derivatives of Aloe, like I saw what was supposed to be "pure Aloe Vera gel" in my local hair shop and it was blue🥴! It also highly depends on what other ingredients are in the product that can make aloe behave differently. I've seen people just jump on the "my hair hates coconut or aloe, or other ingredients" bandwagon after reading one fb post of someone else saying their hair doesn't like it, so automatically they think oh my hair must hate it too, but they've never tried just aloe Vera, example- my hair flash dries when I put cake mousse on it which has aloe but if I use 99% aloe or products with diffrent ingredients alongside aloe my hair loves it. Definitely a trial and error thing before excluding amazing ingredients

    • @GinaMarieCheeseman
      @GinaMarieCheeseman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My hair also flash dries with Cake Mousse but not with any other product containing aloe.

    • @nikkiturner8431

      @@GinaMarieCheeseman It's strange that isn't it! My hair doesn't respond like that with anything else. The minute I put it onto my nice smooth clumps they turn into dry rats tails instantly lol. I've tried to just push past it and work with it but results weren't it lol. I've got dry hair anyway, my hair doesn't get greasy the longer I go between shampoos, it gets dryer. I'm on day 8 just now and with the really dry hot highly unusual temperatures were having during this heatwave in Scotland just now the ends feel fried. Some tlc needed tomorrow lol.
