Here is a common misunderstanding ( even you said it) that you only become British citizen when you have your British passport, which is not correct. You become British citizen the day you receive your naturalisation certificate. Passport is just a travel document and has nothing to do with your citizenship.

I am currently on the High Potential Individual visa (2 years) and I am about to switch it to the skilled worker visa, I am wondering how many years in total do I have to live in the UK before I can apply for ILR? In other words, can I combine the 2 years of my HPi visa with 3 years of Skilled Worker Visa to meet the time requirements for ILR?
Hi I wanted to know that I got ILR on basis of long term residence route for 10 . Can I apply for naturalization even though I was married to British national holder but I couldn't apply coz it couldn't compete 10 years so I went quickest way on basis of 10 years long term residence route then I got ILR .

Hi can anyone explain how to count absences in the last three years, do i typically start from the date of application. For instance, if i apply in July 2024, should i have no more than 90 absences from July 2023 ?

With ILR you can get visa on arrival from countries like UAE...you can also work for Govt companies in the U.K. like MOD as they specifically mention in the job adverts that candidates from the commonwealth countries can apply for the roles...

Moreover you are entitled to all benefits in the U.K. if you have at least have an ILR.... the one advantage that you have with British passport when you travel to India is that you don’t have to wait in a very long queue at the Indian immigration to get out of there.. you get a fast service with a BP😂😂😂😂

How the duration for applying ILR is calculated? Is it based on the application submission date or the date received on BRP. Because initially BRP was received after 3 months of application submission and a mistake was noticed in end date and went for appeal, then again it took 2 months for getting the BRP delivered with correct end date. So now how to calculate the duration.

Hi Maam, I am completing 3 years in the UK on Skilled worker VISA in 6 months and now I wanted to know if I have to extend this for another 2 years or 3 years? which one is safe. I know after completing 5 years, I am eligible for ILR, however I wanted to know extending only for 2 years will put me into any troubles just in case my ILR does not approved as soon as I finish 5 years term here. Alternatively I can extend for another 3 years but need to pay the IHS fee for one year additionally for the entire family. Please advise. Thanks.

Dont be silly, ILR doesnt expire. only if you leave UK for more than 2 years, used deception in gaining it or end up getting a serious criminal record. That december date is the expiry date of the card not ILR.

If you have on-going application with home office then your employer can use employer check-in service to get your right to work status.

There is not much to add for ILR benefit :
1.no sponsorship needed to work in the U.K.
2.get access to public services
3.reside in U.K. permanently
Few additional countries u can travel if u have ILR without needing to apply visa .
I been in uk with Italian passports for the last 30 years ...and I claim benefits...as I'm disabled...will all this new laws affect me ? Will they push me to work doing jobs I cannot deliver due to my terrible I'll health ???

Hey no .. u cannot settle on this visa . U will have to move to some other visa category like Skilled visa or Global Talent visa .

If u stayed on either Skilled visa or Healthcare visa for 5 years , yes you are eligible .

Well, isn’t that a fun twist on international law! If only passports were magical keys to any land one desires, and the Republic of Ireland was just another room in the grand British house. But, alas, passports are just travel documents and Ireland is its own country, not a British territory. Who would’ve guessed? 🤷♂️

That said, public financial resources will soon be reduced for those on IRL. The UK are finally realising they can't offer financial support to the world (and why should they), especially whilst immigrant channel crossings continue and drain the governments purse. This has contributed to public funding being well in to the 'red' and for the moment at least, ECHR has tied the governments' hands. Changes will be made during the next budget (in 2025) or shortly after.
ILR no more after 5 years, it's gonna 10 years ,who's is on skilled worker or half way on ILR , soon u get news , though time for skilled worker 😢

After 5 years ILR & after one year once u apply for Naturalisation then only u can apply for British passport .
So your ILR will NOT be valid after British passport & u need to send it back to the home office

British citizenship are the correct words and you cannot get a British passport without the citizenship. Also republic of Ireland is not a British territory; It is an independent EU country
