The most important change: Have Beedle give us the reward discount for saving his pet BEFORE we buy everything he will ever sell so we don't end up NEVER able to use the discount and subsequently wanting to hang Beedle with the Whip and shooting his body with the slingshot as his life gradually fades.

Kinda like how they mirrored twilight princess for the wii for right-handed people but mirrored for left-handed people instead. Especially since link has been left-handed for the majority of the series minus Skyward sword and breath of the wild. The wii was the only reason link ever became right-handed.

I totally agree with getting a HD remake for Skyward Sword. It was my favorite game in the series before BotW. Back in the Wii U's era, I even hoped that the NX will come later, so that we can have a HD Skyward Sword on the Wii U. At the time, I thought Wii U would be the last console that Nintendo will support motion control. So when the NX is revealed to be Switch and we see the Joy-cons, I'm relieved, because I know that HD Skyward Sword WILL be release eventually on the Switch. Currently, my prediction is 2021, 10 year after the original was released.

I went into the video ready to explain why I love Skyward Sword (even as a classic Zelda fan) but as it went on, you presented your ideas and opinions super thoughtfully and kindly. I actually agree with everything on this list! Thank you so much for not just bashing the crap out of the game and actually critiquing it. :)
One thing I would really like to see in a remake of SS that is somewhat story-related is a Skyloft/Skyloftian revamp. I KNOW that will not happen, but it just doesn't make sense to me that multiple games talk about how hylians have an affinity for magic, yet we only see Zelda and Link use it. I would absolutely adore seeing the hylians use magic to do completely mundane things, like wash dishes or clean laundry, or even Fledge struggling to use magic to lift a barrel. Skyloftians are like prehistoric hylians, and yet they possess no magic abilities? Hogwash. I think more focus on lore would be incredible, seeing as SS is the first game in the timeline, and sits up the future of Hyrule. An interesting tidbit from Fi is that fairies did not exist in the time of Hylia, and only recently started appearing in the Sky Era. I love lore like that and I'd love to see more!

      @availlaponcet5877 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@Artofjoe Hmm... I disagree, but I understand what you're saying! :) I took to calling them prehistoric mostly because they're not even called hylians yet in the Sky Era, imagine if the Romans were not humans! Though the circumstances are different, so I think both make sense depending on certain factors!

    • @Katherine._.97._.
      @Katherine._.97._. 4 ปีที่แล้ว

When, exactly, does Link use magic in SS? I thought it was fine that no humans (they are called humans in-game, not Skyloftians) used any magic because towards the end of the game with the third and final Ghirahim fight, he says something about magic and spells requiring a lot of concentration and focus, and how Link wouldn’t understand. If magic was completely forgotten by the people of Skyloft, cut of from the surface world, it would make sense. Zelda uses magic, at least to make her amber cocoon thing to sleep in, and to make the true master sword, but that can be explained because she is Hylia reincarnated and has all of Hylia’s memories, including how to use magic. I bet magic was either forgotten after all those years, or the original Hylians that ascended into the sky did not use magic.

    My changes and additions.
    Changes:
-Skyloft and the sky are 1 big place with no loads.
-You can jump off Skyloft and summon your loftwing from EVERYWHERE (and not just from those 4 places you're allowed to)
-The game doesn't tell you the details of the stuff you pick up from the bodies of your enemies every single time you boot the game.
-The Master Quest mode is available from the start, and it would flip the entire game like T.P. (except Link and maybe the most swordplay enemies, because I can recognize that most people are right handed, and suddently having to rely on the left hand would not be a fair move).
-You can fast foward the in-game dialogues (like dream team bros)
    Additions:
-You can fly and visit the areas on the surface during night (pheraps as an award after clensing Skyloft)
    -An Arena mode.
-New areas, like new islands and a new area between the 3 main areas (and so right under Skyloft) that would fix a bit one of the main issues with the game structure, and add new side quests/minigames.
    -VOICE ACTING!
-If there was amiibo support, I think it should include other games outfits, but rather than them being other greeen tunics, they could be based on other link outfits (like the Ordon Village clothes, or other botw normal outfits) and the good old damage multiplier.

I’d love to see alternate costumes like in Breath of the Wild and Tri Force Heroes. This could tie into the extra shops on different islands.
Also I think something similar to the rapids from Link’s Awakening, but with the the Loftwing going through the sky could be cool and liven up the over world.
Also just extra shields could be cool, and maybe more upgrades to the main items.

...please make the loftwing controls different than...flapping your wrist up and down while tilting it at awkward angles. Not only is it tedious to the point of “Are we there YET?!?!” it’s actually pretty painful if you have health issues like arthritus, carpal tunnel syndrome, certain auto immune disorders, or ligament/tendon health issues. (Which...just regular games of pressing buttons generally don’t flare these up as bad. Or at least not the ones I struggle with, namely CTS. But I can easily see how these existing controls would be TERRIBLE for other ones.)
Which...the SS motion controls in general were pretty terrible in general for All Of The Above. (And were also pretty bad for anyone with anxiety, and probably movement and coordination disorders as well.)
Which when they did work...it felt so painfully slow vs engaging as you’re waiting for a certain movement to react to just to progress. It’s even more obvious if you’re...say...watching a gameplay video. The bokoblins or stalfos just stand static with their weapons in front of their face vertically or horizontally before finally swinging (which...slow combat, and then either any sort of calibration issue and/or your own physical or mental health is thrown at your face?)

I came in expecting another "let's bash Skyward Sword for badly thought out reasons" video, but was pleasantly surprised. Instead of having to complain that the game was totally, and often deliberately, misunderstood, I can offer my opinions as someone played it through 4 times, even 100%ing it.
    1. The motion controls. They worked just fine in the original (excluding damaged controllers, but if we count that then Twilight Princess's controls sucked), they just had a learning curve, which is to be expected when such a new control scheme is brought in. By the end of my first playthrough, they worked perfectly, even when lounging around on the couch. But with the Switch's more advanced tech, the learning curve could be lowered at no detriment to the game, so of course this would be good.
    2. The Overworld. I get the feeling you only played a few of the side-quests. While the Sky is pretty empty, it's not as empty as you make it seem here, with things like Fun Fun Island and Bug Island. While I certainly wouldn't mind the Sky being a bit fuller, I think it's kind of unfair to compare it unfavourably to other Zelda games, when if you actually think about how much there is to do in the overworlds of many of them, they're similarly barren.

I like Skyward Sword, I agree that they need to tone Fi down, and maybe touch up the motion controls a little, but personally the biggest thing I would want to see in a Skyward Sword remake is the option to have a left handed mode for the controls. It might sound like a small thing, but being left handed myself I always loved that Link has always been depicted as a leftie and it was a bit of a let down for me that they changed him to right handed in Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild

    • @Emarella
      @Emarella 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Even as a right-handed player, I was honestly disappointed Link was right-handed in Skyward Sword. It was my first time playing a right-handed Link (I had the Gamecube version of TP so the game wasn't mirrored), and it just felt so off since being left-handed has always been such a staple of Link to me.

    • @hikaru9624
      @hikaru9624 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Speaking as someone who is in the middle of a hero mode save on TPHD, I find a right handed link rather jarring despite having sink 500+ hours into botw.
They could male a left handed Sky link easily! But they'll probably just do that by mirroring the entire game.

I would love to see the Joy Cons motion controls used for an HD remaster for Skyward Sword. After all, the Wii Motion Plus already used gyro technology.
About adding the possibility of removing the motion controls, juste like Miyamoto I think it would be nearly impossible. I mean, every single interaction has been imagined with motion controls as its core. Of course it would be nice that everyone could be satisfied and just enjoy the game, but at this point I think it would be a totally different experience, in contradiction with the game's leitmotif. Motion controls may have been an additional feature in the Wii version of Twilight Princess, it's not the case for Skyward Sword. For me, if you remove that, it's not even Skyward Sword anymore.
Instead of that, I'd like to see them go even further, and make the motion controls more accurate and efficient, that would make the game even more smooth than it already is. Even BOTW, which did a phenomenal job at making the navigation between different weapons and items very ergonomic with classic controls, is not at the same level as Skyward Sword. Switching between items, potions and other stuff was really intuitive and easy in SS, it's something you can't have without motion controls.

    • @Cookberg
      @Cookberg 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I understand how many people don't want the motion controls and then go on to site Metal Gear: Rising and it's mechanic but I still don't think that works. As you said, the entire game was made with motion controls in mind, and comparative to Twilight Princess, it seemed like flailing your wrist around to swing your sword was a novelty at best implemented after the fact (which it was). Also, like you said, if you remove the motion controls does it even continue to be "Skyward" Sword, or "Irrelevant Direction" Sword? I think the almost 360 degree motion just wouldn't work with just a joystick swap. That means tabletop or screen only play, which kind of sucks because I play mostly in handheld mode, and the Switch Lite would require buying a joy-con but I just think that's something you'd have to accept to play the game.
The fact remains that I would do anything to get this remade because I only played it once and it would require me trying to track down a nunchuck and motion plus accessory to play it again on my WiiU, and those are harder and harder to come by everyday...I think its an eventuality that it gets remade because the Switch IS so accessible for the controls. I also think the same as you and HG, if more people had a better experience with motion controls in the first place, they may not be so critical about them being smoother in a remaster.

    • @anonymousfellow8879
      @anonymousfellow8879 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You can remove them from a few things. Swordplay? Not at all. But hopefully the joycons work better (wii motion+ is finicky. Don’t @me.)
But The Sky? There’s literally no reason to Flap And Turn Your Wrist. That’s SO boring and gimmicky just to be gimmicky. (Also, *ow)
Same complaint with the swimming. No reason why you had to keep turning your wrist like that for Link to not even steer. Just use the joystick...it was perfectly *fine* for walking! Shaking the nunchuck to do that attack can stay.
(I swear you did so little with flying (aside from going to and from the Surface and Skyloft) and swimming is because they knew those controls sucked.)
The wii motion+ kinda broke with a few item. The gust bellows always force me to recalibrate with prolonged use in the Extremely Dusty Areas, and sometimes the Beetle got all wonky...but that one at least had a quick Recenter. The Bellows did not and they screwed up the worst.
So...if they could cut the parts that are gimmicky at best, physically painful at worst (like the flying and swimming), and tighten up everything else to be a lot cleaner (*especially* for user error. There always will be some and really, they shouldn’t be punished for it. There’s a difference between not being great with games and your mechanics still need work; or exasperate physical issues a player might have), then it’d be a bit better.
Listen to the complaints. They’re valid. Then see how they can be addressed.
Thankfully the joycons seem to work a far cry better than wii motion+ ever did. At least, I haven’t heard any complaints about it being overly finicky so far, and the Switch has been out for a while now.
But...sword direction swings have been a thing in Zelda without using Motion Controls? And several items don’t *need* the MC to work, really! Gyroscoping, fine. But “swing THIS way!” that’s...just map the buttons. Or take that out since a good bit is probably going to need to be cleaned up, anyway. The entire game really would work so much better and be enjoyed by a larger fanbase vs a niche group.
What makes SS is its story, not its overreaching of early technology that kinda flopped for more than “just a few”. And plenty of people *want* to play the game...but won’t even bother if it’s still so gimmicky and not truly living up to the gimmick.
(Also. Late addition or not? The motion and gyroscoping in TP actually felt natural. It didn’t ever screw up. The only complaints I’ve ever heard about it was “I really miss a controler”. Not “this isn’t working” ...and that’s for an earlier game. Wii Sports also ironically worked better than Wii Sports Resort. And it was a pretty known thing how other companies who came out with their own motion controls just worked better than the 2nd Gen Wii Motion+ ...which really was kinda a “seriously, guys???” as Nintendo more or less MADE that technology yet their receiver sucked even without them throwing in needless (and painful) gimmicks like bird flapping.)

A remake with alot smoother motion would make it fantastic ^_^ also I really like Fi and seeing the little Easter eggs of her in breath and how she might be awake agian is just exciting

I didn't have any issues either but you have to remember how people play games now. 50 ft away from a big screen sitting on a couch, or laying in bed. It's hard to swing your arms for sword fighting laying in bed. You basically have to play SS sitting right in front of your tv, which was how the game was developed. Most people don't have gaming set ups like that anymore. The exceptions being people who play competitive games. Casual gamers want to plop onto a bed and mash buttons, which is part of why BotW is so much more well received by the glut of casual gamers who bought it.

I think of Skyward Sword as a unique 25h anniversary game that tries to get the most out of the Wii's capabilities and has an art style that employs the best of both worlds in contrast to Wind Waker & Twilight Princess that suits its narrative. I think the cinematic presentation works well. In terms of level design and gameplay, Skyward Sword seems to have looked over the shoulders of Retro Studios' Metroid Prime series. This isn't a complaint. The results of focusing on a smaller set of adventure zones at the expense of the overworld allowed more care and precision to be exercised in creating such spaces even if it lost that sense of traveling through a connected world ubiquitous to the franchise. I don't think of the sky level as an actual overworld, it's a more of an involved level select screen. You have your adventure levels, minigames, sidequests and treasure chests to claim. It makes sense to me given the theme of a world that -is- disconnected from the protagonist and his support network. It's just rather than choose your destination and fly to it as a cinematic as Samus would, you hop on a loftwing and bring yourself over manually.
Given how linear the game is Fi merely states the obvious. I'd rather see an option to speed up the text like in Dragon Quest games so Fi can be glossed over rather than have developers pull their hair out trying to find the right balance between helpful and overbearing for a wide spectrum of players.
Skyward Sword (for better & for worse) is tied to its Motion Controls. A big part of combat is determining and then executing attacks in the correct direction relative to an adversary's defensive posture. Adversaries often spend more time parrying and blocking than attacking in Skyward Sword for this reason. I could do without the pulling and planting swords in the ground which I found frustrating. While 'dowsing' led me to my objectives, I much prefer the Sheikah Sensor to ping me automatically like in BotW. Ultimately they got more right than they got wrong with the control scheme. If the Switch can support the control scheme, then an HD makeover would be nice. Given how empty the sky is, they could stuff another dungeon up there as an incentive (just so long as it isn't contrived like that one in Phantom Hourglass).

    -Motion Controls.
If you’re even slightly anxious or uncoordinated (like...if you’re a kid or teen constantly going through growthspurts) then they’re just not going to calibrate well, and you’ll spend A LOT of time setting your remote down to recalibrate. As an adult that’s not as big a problem? But I’m still stuck waiting for specific motions, then S L O W L Y swinging the remote a certain way to get it to register, and THAT slows down gameplay. (oh. my. WORD did the old TP ones work so much better. They weren’t finicky and gave me the feeling of swinging a sword. And the Windwaker combat never felt “slowed down”, really the only complaint I’ve ever heard about it that might have some merit is the Perry being a reaction button press vs an actual command you can do proactively.) Also...the bird flapping? Really? And the swiming’s terrible. Both should just be joystick only and be done with it. Plus THOSE mechanics wrecked havock on my wrist (I have carpal tunnel syndrome from an old job. It’s mostly better? But it still flares up if I’m not careful and can take days to calm back down.) And I have friends and relatives who refuse to play my copy of SS simply because of the motion controls...even though they don’t have the accessibility issues I described above. (And really? Everyone who defends them kinda just comes off sounding a bit pompous at best or ableist at worst...)
    -The Overworld
Yep, you nailed it. It’s bland. Add more LARGE islands and enemies. Skyloft Village is fantastic, it actually feels lived in. But there’s easily enough room to throw in one or two more maps the size of it or Lumpy Pumpkin, or have actual “wild areas” to explore. The random asteroid thingies where goddess cube chests sometimes were found were a far cry. You didn’t explore them, you just checked your map for a glowing chest icon. So...how *empty* the Sky is pared with an overly heroic-epic full symphony theme and the terrible flight mechanics... I often just flew to Skyloft to break it up and to get a break from it all before I threw my wii remote at the screen intentionally. Also, make those warp holes bigger if they’re going to be there at all. You can be lined up Just So and still not go through simply because the bird refuses to flap because...an updraft??? Okay then...there goes a minute of aiming...
The Surface regions also felt a bit linear as well. Which, when you first enter them they’re a bit like a puzzle box as there’s only One Way Forward, but it also gets tedious rather quickly and makes for zero desire to revisit to...say, collect materials to upgrade your gear? Yeah this game has you do A LOT of farming...and doesn’t even give you interesting maps to make up for it once you’ve discovered the path forward to the labyrinth you’re supposed to clear out next. Give some actual Wild spaces, or more Secrets. Or actual villages with a shop where you can restock (even if they’re not as large and with as much variety as the Bazaar). Include the Surface Folk with the Gratitude Crystals sidequests.
    -Item Management
...REALLY. Why the separate menus for the Key Items and other things like bags and shields and bottles. What Was The POINT. Then it’s in Real Time AND requiring the motion controls to swap yet again? NO. Just...NO. That’s what item mapping is for. Inventory management in literally every Zelda game save for the DS titles that were also “real time” (without ANY item mapping...although at least it didn’t COVER YOUR ENTIRE SCREEN as you were open to attacks), and it was Just Fine.
    -The Harp
I’m not saying the harp needs to be taken out. But having it take over an entire item map when you barely use it and it’s just a rhythm mechanic is just...dumb. Fortunately the switch has more button options. Maybe “strum” with one joycon while pressing a button on the other, like how the Windwaker did conducting? But it being “just a rhythm game” ...smh.
(Which conducting in WW isn’t...actually how conducting works. The baton directions tell you what beat of what meter you’re on, not “the pitch”. At most a conductor might point their baton at a specific section if they’re struggling or they have the Main Melody/Major Harmony that needs to be brought out. But again, it’s to give rhythm cues and for everyone to play around to stay together, not Pitch or Notes. (That’s what your music is for, and maybe the accompanist if you’re a singer since you’re trying to sing an interval on pitch vs just needing to have a series of fingerings memorized.) Honestly, the Ocarina Mechanic was pretty good-the different buttons felt like Fingerings, even though your controller is hardly a wind instrument.)
    -Increased Shield Durability
You know what really sucked the most about the shields? Actually using them for anything other than a shield bash damaged them. While shields getting destroyed is nothing new (and I’m completely fine with shields burning or getting zapped because I brought Iron into a Tesla Coil like a moron), just wanting to avoid a blow and having them go down a quarter was...a bit much. And the upgrades didn’t really fix that issue much or remove my lack of desire to even use my DEFENSE item at all whatsoever. That and having your shield literally have a health bar to manage was...honestly? The screen felt cluttered.
    -Bags
...so we get extra wallets that just add on and are done with, but out bomb and quiver and pellet bags...don’t? You have to buy more and then upgrade them? Sacrifice space otherwise used for bottles and shields or medals?! WHY. Just, WHY.
PLEASE just bring back the Upgrade Minigames. Especially since the Sky and Surface Overworlds are So DEAD aside from Skyloft and the Lumpy Pumpkin.

People need to stop defending them. You just end up sounding pompous at best and ablist at worst.
Anyone with anxiety or coordination issues (like cerebal palsy, neurological disorders like dystonia or parkinsons) are going to have a REALLY tough time without any other reason than “hey look at this new tech we’ll throw at everything”! The Wind Bellows flatout broke the calibration every time its used. That isn’t “user error”. And the flapping and swimming mechanics? Those HURT like hell if you have any sort of hand and wrist problems, like carpal tunnel syndrome or arthritis, or ligament and tendon issues.
A game should be escapist and accessible, with the challenges coming from the puzzles and boss fights. NOT be completely artificial because of faulty controls.
(Also? Not every set up allows for optimal receiver placement, even if you do play standing up. It shouldn’t be THAT sensitive, period. Either it picks up EVERYTHING regardless of where it’s at, or it’s basic and accepts Any Movement with maybe a bit of gyroscope aiming like in TP which worked absolutely fine. I’ve heard ZERO complaints about the TP controls unless someone just prefers playing with a controller vs remote, which is completely valid.)

  • @Kaempfdog

I have had a bucket list of changes to add to the Skyward Sword remake when it inevitably happens.
Have a proper day night cycle. Dear god would the sky look spectacular with dawn and dusk, and add night flight. Spread shops to various places in the sky too. Additional shops because the bazaar is actually just fine to me. I would love to see a bird customization shop. All birds have have appearances somewhat similar to their owners. So being able to change it's color or hairstyle would be really cool! And add some armors for the birds. We've seen the birds with the old school flight goggles on the knights on patrol. So armor for the birds is not out of the question. Maybe a slower bird armor with high defense and higher attack. (Add stronger and more enemies in general for this) And a much faster bird armor with lower defense and lower attack. (And various combinations of that nature til end game where you get 1 that boosts all 3.)
Hand holding needs to be turned down several notches yes. But Fi is a fantastic character. (Crap tutorial but if you separate the 2, you enjoy her much more) Getting rid of redundant explanations is desperately needed.
The story itself is amazing. But things can be changed. I would add more beacons of light. Lake Floria, the Sand Sea, and Eldin crater should have beacons that can only be activated from the ground. (and both Lake Floria and Eldin Crater should be much bigger areas as well. Those areas have potential but not fully utilized despite how amazing the areas look) And you can in general put the 3 provinces together. It would make the world more open. I would remove particular bosses like the 2nd Imprisoned and 2nd Moldarach. Both are not very necessary to the story's narrative. All the Ghirahim fights are amazing and I actually quite enjoy the other 2 fights involving the imprisoned. And while the 3rd trips to the provinces is grading, what I would love is a boss fight with each of the dragons testing you for the song of the hero. We see the potential of their power, but we've never seen them in action. You can keep the flooded woods and exploding volcano for that, (since it looks FANTASTIC) but change the dynamic of what is done there. And the Levias fight should be harder. He hits as hard as Demise but his fight could have SO much added to it.
But something I would like to have characters slowly migrate to the surface. Have Pipit go to Eldin, have an instructor land in Lanayru or something. Why should Groose be the only one to try and dive beneath the clouds following Link? Spend more time with the Skylians in the main story. Each character has an awesome arc enriching even the least important of characters and I love them for that. But I want more to stay relevant. I mean Pipit is the bird expert but you never see the guy on a bird! You could totally race the guy! Make classes with the teachers more relevant on areas you can find in the sky! Have a Cawlin redemption! (he's the only character never satisfied and never happy in the end) Truly become a knight and have sidequests about helping people in trouble by enemies or getting lost in the clouds! There is so much potential on what to add in both the sky and the surface!
A warp system from bird statue to bird statue is necessary. Make travel more convenient. Having the bird in general being faster is important, but there's never a more convenient way of travel. The fastest way to get from bird statue to bird statue as of now is to return to sky and go right back into the beacon. It's so unnecessary and overly complicated!
Skyward Sword was SUPER rushed. But with the right attention it could be the best game in the series. It's still my favorite overall! But I recognize it's flaws big time. Everyone hates some aspect of skyward sword, but I have never met someone who hates the entire thing other than those who never had the patience to beat the whole game.

Haha I scrolled for a long time and didn’t notice my old comment. Good thing a lot of stuff is semi new and more thought out. I’ve been playing Skyward Sword so much my analyzing has gone up since.
I’ve played Skyward Sword a good...I want to say dozen times now? My favorite Zelda for sure from story alone. I’m currently maxing out the item check in hero mode. That requires: 19 shields (2 wooden, banded, braced, iron, reinforced, fortified, sacred, divine, and goddess shields and 1 Hylian) 8 large bomb bags, seed satchels, and quivers so you can hold the maximum amount of all 3 consumable ammo, all 5 bottles (I’m gonna end with all 5 max potions but I’m often using glittering spores and fairies as I grind) all 10 medallions, and there’s STILL 2 slots in the item check I have to decide what remains! Is it excessive? Oh god yes but it has forced me to learn how to grind following the Levias fight. The game is mean and moves most of the grinding spots in each province after that fight and it took me a while to find all of it. Before I just grinded right after Ghirahim 2. Ahhhh the things I do for true 100%. I gotta best the full lightning round too. Peatrice must hate me because I turned her down this time. XD

The game is already confirmed as of me writing this. But perhaps DLC could remedy this.
Give us an Easy and Hard mode available from the start separate from Hero Mode. Make the Song of the Hero- 3 temples where Link has to retrieve the lyrics to give to the Dragons. Add more "optional" items- Boomerang, Hookshot, Pegasus Boots, Roc's Feather, Power Bracelet, Magic Meter perhaps for special spells?. Add more medals as that system is underutilized, more potion types as you mentioned. More sky islands, More shields, More shops outside of the Bazaar, have more mini games featuring the other items similar to how you use the Bow for that pumpkin toss mini game. Have Eagus teach you extra sword abilities.

As a replacement for the motion controls they could make it so the 8 directions when slashing your sword are bound to the right joystick (ex. if you move the joystick up left, you will swing the sword diagonally up left) and you could press the right joystick like a button to stab. And as for the things like aiming or dowsing and stuff like that, you could simply use the right joystick to look around or you could use the gyro controls. And for the loft wing you could also just bind that to joysticks or gyro controls as well. The action of pulling out the sheild can be bound to one of the shoulder buttons and and as far as I can remember, that's really all of the times motion controls are used in this game. I've recently played the game with a setup similar to this while emulating it on my PC and using a Switch Pro Controller for the gyro and I was able to play through the game with less issues than I remember when playing it on the Wii. Most of the motion control issues when playing this game were when trying to swing your sword or when trying to aim, but the gyro controls are much better than the Wii Motion Plus and having the sword swinging bound to the right stick makes it so the sword swinging is as accurate as possible.

My personal list of things they need to change, is
    -improve motion controls
-add option to turn off some of fi’s notifications, like telling you when your batteries are low when you can just look at the bottom left corner and wii already had a built in battery warning.
-add left handed option (btw I’m right handed but I thought it should still be added, even if it screws with the lord since this link is supposed to be right-handed.)
-remove the annoying life medals that prevent you from having 20 hearts unless you carry both the 2 life medals in your pouch.
-maybe allow the player to buy stamina potions after beating the earth temple, always hated how you’re only allowed to buy the stamina potions after you get through a part in the game where clearly having stamina potions would help you out a lot. Although the reason they probably did this is to prevent the player from skipping certain puzzles or just making lanayru desert way easier.
    -add Amiibo functionality.
Add extra collectibles, or extra items, or maybe allowing For more item pouch slots or something just for extra content to help make the game feel more new.
-perhaps Allow the ability to upgrade the bomb bag capacity without needing to buy an extra bag to put in the pouch. Always felt it was stupid how I needed to buy an extra bag and then upgrade the extra bag to upgrade my bomb capacity when clearly I Already have a good bag to upgrade, and same goes for the quiver upgrades.
    - perhaps maybe allowing the player to upgrade the whip in some way, always felt it was weird how this item didn’t have upgrades but pretty much the rest of them do, well except for the claw shots and gust bellows which I can understand not having upgrades for that since any upgrades like extending the reach of the claw shots would be pointless and also interfere with some puzzles.
-add a couple new items to the game, perhaps by adding a trial mode by using Amiibos, similar to TP HD

Skyward Sword was actually one of the first games I played through to the end (I had three siblings, time was limited), but I nearly gave up in frustration because of those motion controls. It involved having to scout out the best area in the room to play, constantly recalibrating, and cursing my left handedness.

I dunno if anyone else said this, but an idea i had for Skyward Sword is that it could have a mode for playing without motion controls if they:
    A) drop the combat system of having to swing the sword in a specific direction (keep it like OoT and TP) or
    B) have Link automatically swing the sword in the direction needed when he's locked on to a specific enemy

Buttons could be pretty easy. Using B could just do default, basic sword strikes. But then in Z-targeting mode, the right control stick could change from camera control to directional sword strikes. A flick of the stick to slash in each respective direction, hold up on the stick to charge a skyward strike, maybe down followed by a quick upward flick to do the one flip/guard break attack (forget what it was exactly, but the one that you flicked both controllers upward for on the Wii), and press B while in Z-targeting for the straight stab. Still use motion for aiming items like bow, the wind thing, and beetle (but use control sticks for controlling flight, for the love of Hylia). I would actually enjoy the directional puzzle-style combat way more if I had a better chance of the game interpreting my input correctly using the control stick instead of messy motion controls.

Honestly, as a disabled person who has intense twitches and literally always shakes, im really sad that they said that it'll be almost impossible to transfer the game to non motion controls. like i love zelda and all kinds of similar video games because i love combat and puzzle solving, but i almost cried while playing even TWILIGHT PRINCESS on the wii because the motion controls combined with my twitchiness constantly kept making me have to restart. Like with breath of the wild, the way that the motion controls were pretty limited was really good for me, as i could have someone assist me with shrines that depended heavily on using motion controls to move mazes or whatever and got the hang of the bow and arrow and rune stuff pretty easily. I still love to hunt bokoblins and lizafolos using only normal bows in that game even long after ive finished it.

For whatever reason, any Shrine that used motion stuff always felt a bit... _off_ anyway.
I imagine most had issues moving those damn things. (Which is odd, since the bow/runes work just fine.)

Speaking of the visuals, I believe it would be the perfect opportunity for the series to test new art concepts using deep art render to bring an interactive painting result to the game. Games like Okami could do the same thing; with that traditional Chinese and Japanese painting art style. And revolutionize in-game animations with things like procedural animation, like animation nodes; new physics simulations, such as sediments and fluids; 3D sound simulations based on physical materials; And animation using AI, including techniques like deep mimic, and animations using creature involves AI animation elements (which would be perfect for series like Pokémon too).

I played it standing and still had constant issues. I think it just boils down to it working for some people and not for others. Skyward Sword's motion controls could easily be fixed by binding the sword to the right analogue stick. Left to right to swing horizontally, hold up to charge a skyward strike etc. You could press R3 to stab too. I honestly think that would solve the sword motion controls. The only issues you'd have then would be doing circles for those eye doors and faking out ghirahim. Maybe you have to hold L or something to actually do a strike, otherwise you just waggle your sword.
Now if Nintendo wanted to make this setup work even better, they could have a "Casual Control" mode, where you simply press Y to attack, and the game will figure out what type of strike would be most beneficial for you. This idea is way less likely and more effort to execute in my opinion, but it would be a great feature

I'm fine with the motion controls and wouldn't mind if they can't be turned off. Though the real issue would be handheld mode and now that the Switch Lite is a thing, that's a real challenge. The game would either have to not support the Switch Lite's default configuration (and thus require the player to buy a separate set of joycons) or somehow make motion controls optional like you said.
Though the 2 gameplay elements that can do without motion controls is swimming and the loftwing (oh and for that beetle thing. I forget what it's called at the moment. :P ). There is no reason to keep those to motion controls and were the only parts of the game where the motion controls felt gimmicky and annoying when I would have had a better experience with traditional controls in those parts of the game. The sword play was finicky for me due to my setup. (playing the game at my computer desk with the sensor bar less then 3 feet away from me), but wasn't a problem a faulted the game for.
The Switch's motion controls are vastly suprior to what the Wii had so the game would benefit from it. The only real issue would be they would probably have to put a disclaimer on the box and in advertising the the game won't support handheld mode. Would have to use either tabletop mode or docked mode which really limits Switch Lite users. But none the less I would still love to see a remake done for this game.
There have been interviews/details that came out about the development of the game that they wanted to make the ground area of the game connected. But they couldn't get the hardware to handle it and/or time constraints. They now have a chance to perhaps flush that idea out and make it possible to go to other areas on the ground without having to go up in the sky. This + your ideas for improving the sky area of the overworld would really help to modernize the game. :D
Oh and the bloom/blur effect they did for far away objects...yeah I hope they do away with that. After using gecko codes to turn that crap off on my softmodded Wii, the game looked a lot better and when I played it in HD on Dolphin on my PC, it made the game look amazing. It almost doesn't really need better textures/models. Though if they do remake it they would probably redo the textures anyways. The artstyle is fine. So that I don't really want changed. Just a few graphic fx to be tweaked and it would look much sharper and better. The bloom fx on Windwaker HD is god awful. Glad they got rid of that in Twilight Princess HD. When those remakes get ported to the Switch I hope they backport that improvement to Windwaker HD.

Honestly how hard would it be to map the motion controls to the right analog stick and clicking the analog stick would be a thrusting motion with the Sword, Skyward strike could be hold the analog stick up for a few seconds, for vertical spin attack you can rotate the right analog 360° and press A, and for the horizontal spin attack you do the same but instead of pressing A you press B instead
