Tata Motors has launched the BS6 automatic range of the NEW Tata Harrier at the 2020 Auto Expo
& The 2020 Tata Harrier comes with a more powerful engine, added features and finally an automatic transmission option as well.
The NEW Tata Harrier 2020 sees the power output of its 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine bumped up from 140hp in BS4 spec to a healthy 170hp. The 6-speed manual gearbox will continue as standard, and the void of an automatic option in the Harrier range has been filled by a Hyundai-sourced, 6-speed torque converter unit in the mid-spec XMA, high-spec XZA, and a new range-topping XZA+ variant.
Apar form that Changes to the exterior are hard to spot. The most obvious ones are the new 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and new Calypso Red and Cocoa Sparkle exterior colour options.
To spruce up the exterior Tata has given the Harrier a generous helping of chrome around the lower edge of the grille, around the headlamps and lower edge of the window area and doors. The rear bumper has been tweaked slightly as well with the lower portion now featuring an all-black look.
Much like the exterior, the interior too has been carried forward unchanged.however the tata harrier XZA+ / XZ+ trim brings new features to the table including a 6-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a panoramic sunroof. The one in the Harrier is the largest in its segment and boasts smart features like global close, which means that every time you lock the car the sunroof and the sun shade slide shut automatically. It has anti pinch as well as rain sensing auto shut features too. Owners or those who have been inside the older Harrier would remember the AUX and USB ports being very hard to reach. That problem has been addressed as the placement of the USB and AUX ports has been revised making them more accessible than before.
The increase in power has taken a slight toll on fuel efficiency. While the earlier model had an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 16.7kmpl, the updated Harrier with the more powerful engine returns 16.35kmpl overall. The automatic variant on the other hand has an overall claimed fuel efficiency of 14.63kmpl.
Prices for the BS6 manual have gone up by Rs 25,000-30,000, with the entry-level Harrier XE now costing Rs 13.69 lakh.
Tata harrier automatic price in india starts at Rs 16.25 lakh for the XMA variant, with the XZA costing Rs 18.80 lakh, and the top-spec XZA+ is priced at Rs 19.99 lakh.
The Harrier dual-tone BS6 manual starts at Rs 17.60 lakh while the top-end XZA+ dual-tone costs Rs 20.15 lakh. Prices for the Harrier BS6 Dark Edition now start at Rs 17.70 lakh, going up to Rs 20.25 lakh for the top-of-the-line Harrier XZA+ BS6 Dark Edition automatic.
The 2020 Harrier BS6 rivals the likes of the MG Hector, the upcoming second-gen Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Renault Captur and the Nissan Kicks. The Harrier will soon be joined by a slightly larger, 7-seat iteration called the Tata Gravitas that made its debut at the Auto Expo 2020.
