MIG 29 has dust inlets its perfect for High Altitude problem is the airframe.

If these upgraded iaf mig-29upg are further upgraded with aesa radar and astra-1/2/3 bvr missiles it would make it more lethal. In 1999 kargil war though mirage-2000 garnered lot of attention for its air to ground precision strike role in evicting pakistani intruders , the role of then non upgraded bvr missile(r-27) equipped mig-29 was also equally important providing top cover to these iaf mirage-2000 making paf f-16 to maintain a very safe distance from iaf strike formations.

Not just the aircrafts, they are beautiful but the weapons package is obsurd an aircraft life Su-30 have to dodge in front of smaller F-16 why?? because of shitty Russian missiles PAk's AIMRAAM has 100+ kms range and Su have only 80 that is a big differenece & Mig had even more worst weapons it is not it got R77. IAF realized nooone of our jets can match the F16(newer ones) & its whole package from Radar to EW suite to wepons that is why we opted for RAfale. Still we need to replace all possible rusian systems from Su & MiG be it AESA Radar, new EW Suite, Astra missiles, Indian short range missiles & many more such possible indigenous options. We can never fight China & PAk with these outdated weapon packages. Kudos to our Fighter pilots for defending airspace with these systems

Using Naval aircraft for land patrol shows that IAF is desperate for the right equipment and using Mig 29UPG is just a stop gap measure.
A fighter jet will carry live missiles in the following cases:

But pak couldn't challange our su30 with aim120C. Now astra and brahmos is enough to stay away.

SD10 is an unproven missile with Chinese reverse engineered technology, so potency of the missile is suspectable! Aim120C is a very potent missile, but in an unprofessional airforce this seems to be ineffective.
We had recently seen a case where su30mki was targeted atleast with 4 of them, none of them could even touch the target. Later on to hide from shame, false narration was spread with thier citizens that they have downed a su30mki.
So man behind machine is also important. Or else you may be taken by a 3rd generation mig21 when you advanced fourth gen fighter like f16😝
