He gives 2 strangers a home, takes care of Margaret (well she takes care of him, but it's the thought that counts), and one man I shall forever love but never be able to romance.

I went for Vishnal on my 1st file and I can't argue the A rank you gave him. Vishnal goes above and beyond for Frey, but his cooking is much to be desired! But did you know that Vishnal's failed dishes are like weapons of war if you throw them at higher leveled monsters in the later dungeons? Failed dishes and disastrous dishes can poison even the strongest monsters so I see Vishnal's lack of cooking skill as a blessing in disguise! Lol.
My favorite thing about Rune Factory 4 that sets it apart from other farming sims is that the town/world feels alive. The characters are charming with plenty of unique dialogue, their own hobbies, personalities, schedules, etc., that makes building relationships feel worthwhile and genuine. I legitimately enjoy interacting with the villagers in RF4, beyond needing friendship points to unlock a feature. The missions and side quests are fun and charming, too.
Leon is mine!!!!! He is so precious when you learn to know him, I teared up in his marriage event (so sad, must protect), I love his sense of humor and he is sexy as hell. You can have Dylas, I'm not that fond of tsundere but I can understand the appeal.
So far I've only married Arthur. I want to marry Leon, but I want Venti there. Too bad Rune Paria keeps kicking my butt. Stupid Death Wall with its unavoidable one hit kill move.
Lol! I remember that. I married Leon because I couldn't get Dylas's cut scenes to trigger (RNG/random cut scenes for marriage requirement was the one sore spot of the game), but I still liked Dylas even after I married Leon. I kept giving Dylas gifts, and Leon got really pouty and jealous and confronted my character about it. 😂
@@Featheryfaith7 Do you mean rival marriages? It's not like it was an especially complex system, though. As far as I've heard, apparently Japanese players don't like the rival marriages, so I wouldn't expect to see them anytime soon.
I totally agree that farming in rf4 was actually fun! I’ve always found farming to be tedious and boring in hm games but rf4 definitely changed that for me. I actually had fun going to sleep feeling excited about my crops growing the next day.

I too wanted to pick Dylas first. But then I saw a random event with Doug telling FemC what his type of lady was and who he wanted to marry someday. I fell in love with Doug after that no joke. He’s actually the most affectionate bachelor in the game. So my ranking is Doug S, Leon S, Dylas A Vishnal B, Arthur C and then Kiel lol. Sorry not into lolis lol

I adore Rune Factory 4. I could genuinely feel the emotion in every character, especially Leon and Venti. If there is one thing I regret, is not crying. I want to hug every single person in Selphia. Everyone is so wholesome and heartwarming. They're like one big happy family.
I remember randomly buying Rune Factory 3 and I fell in love with this series and was excited when Rune Factory 4 came out and then Rune Factory 4 Special.
Doug is my second fave next to Dylas. I feel like because he's only unlockable after the secknd arc they put extra effort into writing more marriage voice lines for him. In the dating phase he's not anything special but once you get to married life he was greeting me with fully voiced limes almost ever second day. It was actually insane!
My rating is a good bit different that yours XD. (some spoilers) 1.Doug (When he isn't trying to kill your best friend in a misguided attempt for vengeance, he really is a sweet and nice guy you can really depend on. Also, he's adorable XD) 2.Leon (he has MUCH more history and nuance behind him than the other characters, and it's really interesting to explore how he became the way he is) 3. Kiel ( he's sweet and family oriented. Also, he's the magic bae of the game) 4. Dylas (another one with so much more history behind him, the only thing that knocks him down so much is his tsundere behavior) 5. Vishnal (The loyalty he has towards is great, but sometimes makes me uncomfortable. Like Vishnal, sweetheart, I'm flattered and honored, really, but you NEED to find a reason for living that isn't me. Doesn't mean I don't love you sweetums, but your crush is kinda unhealthy and I don't want to encourage it) 6. Arthur ( He's not BAAADDD, he's just.... too obsessed in his work. It's kinda clear his work is more important to him than you, and I get that, prince and all. Not to mention, your relationship wouldn't work out too well, considering he's supposed to become King and I don't feel like Frey ( or Lest) would leave the town) I've never been as big a fan with the girls in the game, but here's their rankings 1. Dolce ( Two girls for the price of one, man! So what if one of them is dead! Also, I really like her design and the fact she can see ghosts is interesting) 2. Amber (Again, another design I like and I like the idea of what her powers would do to your children's genetics. also, there's another reason you'll find out why I like her so much at #4) 3. Forte (In a way, Forte is the best of the worst to me, she's just a little better than the others but even she suffers with the problem) 4. Meg ( Bland. All the girls from here on are bland. There doesn't feel like there's that much to them. Forte suffered form this a bit, but she had enough background and personality due to Kiel, she was slightly not bland. Meg really seems like she could have been more interesting, but they kinda dropped the ball with her. I like her design though) 5. Clorica ( She's sleepy..... that's her main personality trait. Again, just kinda bland) 6. Xiao Pai ( Her mother is a more interesting character than she is. She is just this sheltered girl who's parents had amazing lives and she's obsessed with food.... AKA, she's bland. The only real appeal to marrying her is to have her parents as in laws....)
I made a male character just to marry Xiao Pai :( she's not bland, but you have to spend some time with her to discover her interesting side. She has a complicated relationship with her mother, she's cute and funny. Forte and Dolce are really good too. But yeah, Dylas is the tsundere so he wins.
Both of my ultimate baes were put at the B rank (Clorica and Arthur). I suppose I can accept it because the video was good though. At least they were not C tier or below :)
I don’t particularly like Leon because he seems like the typical overconfident and condescending guy that is popular in the romance genre of anime because apparently that’s attractive? Arthur is a true gentleman, same as Vishnal. Dylas is good too. He’s a good tsundere. I say that because there are a lot of trash tsunderes in anime nowadays, but Dylas is like an old school tsundere that’s just a little awkward and tries his best. Doug is complicated and Kiel is a baby in the sense that he’s like the youngest. My favorite bachelorettes are probably Clorica and Dolce. Clorica is just a little bit ditzy in a charming, funny way and she’s always doing her best. Dolce is another good tsundere in that she can seem stern but always cares about the wellbeing of others. Forte and Margaret are both good too. Margaret is sort of the big sister type in that she’s always nice and trying to be helpful. Forte is actually a big sister and the “gap-moe” character. She’s a knight who tries to hide her girly side and she might be designed after Saber of the Fate series. Xio Pai is mostly just clumsy which is supposed to be cute I suppose and Amber is also a baby. Honestly though I think all the characters are pretty likable and there are plenty of rng based events to keep you playing the game for a long time.
My man is Arthur, he's classy, smart and a gentleman. He's also got that special kind of obliviousness that I can relate to. I also love that his favorite items are glass related items, it makes me laugh every time. For females, I like Xiao Pai and Dolce the most. Xiao is just the cutest cinnamon bun and Dolce is adorable.
You're spot on about Leon. I married him in-game for my first playthrough because I could *not* get Dylas's cut scenes to trigger, and Leon remained the same snarky jerk after marriage as he was before. I thought maybe his character would be more romantic or have better dialogue afterwords, but nope. I guess the old adage is true, love can't change person (not even in a video game!) :)
I completely agree! I feel the same way about this game. It’s the only game that I ever played that when I finished it. I immediately started a new data and played the whole thing again. But one major thing I disagree with! Arthur is the best man! Haha!
RaPWNzel's Tower I just loved his character arch. All of his heart scenes were very really sweet. I usually go for the tsundere characters but I found Arthur’s calm and sweet demeanor very refreshing.
Arthur has the best behavior of the bachelors, but the illustrators gave him a claw hand (the one he uses to hold his book), and I just can't get over it. It looks so strange. 😂
I’m an Arthur fan for sure lol he’s not the most handsome but when he flew in on the airship to help when fighting the last boss I was like damn that was a badass move.
One really nice thing about the game is that leveling up skills will help you in all the game modes. When you level Farming it boosts your HP/RP/vitality while decreasing RP use which helps when dungeoning. Leveling weapon skills increases some offensive stats but also raising max RP which is useful when crafting and farming. Every skill you level increases your effectiveness in all the different faucets of play so no matter what you're doing you are at least being slightly productive and adds a sense of flow into all the activities in the game.
"Dylas and Not Dylas" - i almost spit out my coffee 😂👍 Rune Factory 4 is also one of my all time favorite games ever. I have played through the storylines of literally every single bachelor/Bachelorette. Dylas was my #1 during my very first playthrough. But to be honest, they (almost) all have absolutely amazing storylines. (Kiel's is meh) Although Dylas and Leon were my favorites design wise, my new official favorite is actually Arthur. If you haven't taken the time to go for Arthur and discover his storyline, DO IT! Arthur's storyline is so well written and heartbreaking.. and it just made me fall in love with him as a character. ❤ Dylas and Leon win the hot boy points, but Arthur won my heart.

I remember when I first played the game. I wanted to marry Doug but after I wasn't able to get him above friendship level three I gave up and married Vishnal. Years later I finally managed to marry Doug. (I finished the game but was already married and at the second go I was lazy with the story ;-;)
When Neverland went bankrupt it crushed my soul Q.Q however when Marvelous picked up the Neverland Development team I had hope and now here we are. I'm so freaking happy that we are getting a RF4S and RF5 especially RF 5!!! RF 4 and Tides of Destiny were prolly my favs and honestly Tides was mostly just because its ocean based :D

Personality wise Kiel is actually pretty cute but he just looks way too young to pursue seriously. Otherwise I agree with the bachelor list as it is. For Bachelorettes Clorica is my bae, I used to give her apple desserts pretty much everyday lmao. Then it’s Dolce, Forte, Margaret....etc (Amber has same problems as Kiel except I don’t even find her all that cute either) This is a really nice video, and I’m looking forward to getting Rune Factory 4 and 5 on my Switch!

This was a helpful and hilarious breakdown for someone who knows almost nothing about Rune Factory! Solid work and while I'm not sure if I'm gonna take the leap when it comes out for the Switch I'm definitely leaning more towards it now :)
Just here to say thank you for the recomendation! I was looking into this game for my birthday last year and this video was what finally convinced me to get it! It's since become my favorite 3DS game and one of my favorite JRPGs with nearly 100 hours into it.

If you haven't played rune factory 3, i highly recommend that you try it. RF4 takes its mechanics straight from RF3, but with a different story, obviously. Still, 1 and 2 are very, veeeeery outdated, for example: npc routines in those are just an ilusion, as you could follow an npc and he would just disappear in the next screen, and quests were repetitives, so can't recommend those. RF3 and 4, on the other side, can really give you that feel of a community that is alive, and that don't depend on the player to exist.

And man I’m happy that I got to play it!! I love everything about it!! From farming, taming, and to all the characters that were made! I even made to the end game and just restart the whole adventure again lol After I discovered that they shut down and stop making RF 5 I did have a little tear in my eyes lol because I knew I wouldn’t find a another gem like this again BUT WHEN I HEARD THEY WERE MAKING RF4 FOR THE SWITCH and Making RF5 I damn near cried lol Now we get to enjoy the adventure again on the tv now! I CANT WAIT TO PLAY AGAIN! ( ps Leon is uhhh pretty bae ❤️ - S rank for sure! )

The only thing i didn't like is how in the beginning, instead of introducing yourself to each and every resident... it was just a quick montage. The events activate in random. And... the game does not utilize the voices of the characters as much as RF3 does. But there are a LOT of improvements and new features which I am delighted for.

Ehhhh I’m not big into Dylas. I like his design but he’s so mean! He throws off the vibe of the generally nice town. In my opinion Vishnal and Arthur are S tier. Vishnal has really stolen my heart he’s so cute and I love that he asks to call you princess. And he BLUSHES while asking??? Adorable. While Arthur’s hair kinda throws me off, I dunno his voice is very pleasing and he’s just a really smooth guy. I have the Japanese audio on cuz I’m a weeb so he may sound different in English audio. Though I think I made the right decision because Clorica’s sleeping sounds in her cutscenes are waaaaay cuter. I agree with your girl ranking tho! I love Forte and Margaret a lot. Margaret is really touchy with the female player which instantly made me like her. I wish Nancy was dateable tho, nurse milf after my heart. My biggest flaw with the game so far is that Amber is dateable. Just feels so weird to me cuz she looks and sounds like a little kid. Same with Kiel honestly.
My cousin and I are huge Farm Sim fans, but we’ve only really played Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley. We’ve known about Rune Factory, but we’ve never given it a chance. We’ve both been surprised by how great this game has been!
Also I love Dylas and his crazy loud fishing habit. I almost went after him until i started to notice Arthur, who ended up being my #1 in the game (Forte #2, if only i could date her 😭). Smart, glasses obsessed, and his voice ALL are perfect.
The jokes about human shields and disposable friends were HILARIOUS! Also the wooing rankings! lol. The whole video was funny! You're very fun and cute, and I love your voice! Going back to harvest moon was hard. Seeds are expensive, seasons completely kills your plants(you can literally plant on any season in rune factory ex. Turnips are summer crops but u plant them during spring). Festivals are impossible early game. And stamina drains so so fast and you can’t train a skill to gain more. Relationships were way easier to build in rf4. And most importantly holding down the A button to you pick up multiple of the same item was so convenient. Btw we have the same tier list so thanks for validating my love

I hope Special will fix that god awful Act 3 ending. I mean true, Act 3 technically isn't "canon" but considering how difficultthe whole dungeon was(without cheesing it on the easy difficulty) i think we deserve something better as a reward than what we got in the base game. Also please, PLEASE remove RNG based marriage events. Christ it took almost 2 in game years for Xiao's event to finally trigger. GET RID OF THIS INSANITY PLEASE!

I remember randomly buying Rune Factory 3 and I fell in love with this series and was excited when Rune Factory 4 came out and then Rune Factory 4 Special.
RF3 is still my favorite to date.

Doug is my second fave next to Dylas. I feel like because he's only unlockable after the secknd arc they put extra effort into writing more marriage voice lines for him. In the dating phase he's not anything special but once you get to married life he was greeting me with fully voiced limes almost ever second day. It was actually insane!
My rating is a good bit different that yours XD. (some spoilers)
1.Doug (When he isn't trying to kill your best friend in a misguided attempt for vengeance, he really is a sweet and nice guy you can really depend on. Also, he's adorable XD)
2.Leon (he has MUCH more history and nuance behind him than the other characters, and it's really interesting to explore how he became the way he is)
3. Kiel ( he's sweet and family oriented. Also, he's the magic bae of the game)
4. Dylas (another one with so much more history behind him, the only thing that knocks him down so much is his tsundere behavior)
5. Vishnal (The loyalty he has towards is great, but sometimes makes me uncomfortable. Like Vishnal, sweetheart, I'm flattered and honored, really, but you NEED to find a reason for living that isn't me. Doesn't mean I don't love you sweetums, but your crush is kinda unhealthy and I don't want to encourage it)
6. Arthur ( He's not BAAADDD, he's just.... too obsessed in his work. It's kinda clear his work is more important to him than you, and I get that, prince and all. Not to mention, your relationship wouldn't work out too well, considering he's supposed to become King and I don't feel like Frey ( or Lest) would leave the town)
I've never been as big a fan with the girls in the game, but here's their rankings
1. Dolce ( Two girls for the price of one, man! So what if one of them is dead! Also, I really like her design and the fact she can see ghosts is interesting)
2. Amber (Again, another design I like and I like the idea of what her powers would do to your children's genetics. also, there's another reason you'll find out why I like her so much at #4)
3. Forte (In a way, Forte is the best of the worst to me, she's just a little better than the others but even she suffers with the problem)
4. Meg ( Bland. All the girls from here on are bland. There doesn't feel like there's that much to them. Forte suffered form this a bit, but she had enough background and personality due to Kiel, she was slightly not bland. Meg really seems like she could have been more interesting, but they kinda dropped the ball with her. I like her design though)
5. Clorica ( She's sleepy..... that's her main personality trait. Again, just kinda bland)
6. Xiao Pai ( Her mother is a more interesting character than she is. She is just this sheltered girl who's parents had amazing lives and she's obsessed with food.... AKA, she's bland. The only real appeal to marrying her is to have her parents as in laws....)
I made a male character just to marry Xiao Pai :( she's not bland, but you have to spend some time with her to discover her interesting side. She has a complicated relationship with her mother, she's cute and funny. Forte and Dolce are really good too. But yeah, Dylas is the tsundere so he wins.

Both of my ultimate baes were put at the B rank (Clorica and Arthur). I suppose I can accept it because the video was good though. At least they were not C tier or below :)
I don’t particularly like Leon because he seems like the typical overconfident and condescending guy that is popular in the romance genre of anime because apparently that’s attractive? Arthur is a true gentleman, same as Vishnal. Dylas is good too. He’s a good tsundere. I say that because there are a lot of trash tsunderes in anime nowadays, but Dylas is like an old school tsundere that’s just a little awkward and tries his best. Doug is complicated and Kiel is a baby in the sense that he’s like the youngest. My favorite bachelorettes are probably Clorica and Dolce. Clorica is just a little bit ditzy in a charming, funny way and she’s always doing her best. Dolce is another good tsundere in that she can seem stern but always cares about the wellbeing of others. Forte and Margaret are both good too. Margaret is sort of the big sister type in that she’s always nice and trying to be helpful. Forte is actually a big sister and the “gap-moe” character. She’s a knight who tries to hide her girly side and she might be designed after Saber of the Fate series. Xio Pai is mostly just clumsy which is supposed to be cute I suppose and Amber is also a baby. Honestly though I think all the characters are pretty likable and there are plenty of rng based events to keep you playing the game for a long time.
My man is Arthur, he's classy, smart and a gentleman. He's also got that special kind of obliviousness that I can relate to. I also love that his favorite items are glass related items, it makes me laugh every time. For females, I like Xiao Pai and Dolce the most. Xiao is just the cutest cinnamon bun and Dolce is adorable.
You're spot on about Leon. I married him in-game for my first playthrough because I could *not* get Dylas's cut scenes to trigger, and Leon remained the same snarky jerk after marriage as he was before. I thought maybe his character would be more romantic or have better dialogue afterwords, but nope. I guess the old adage is true, love can't change person (not even in a video game!) :)
I completely agree! I feel the same way about this game. It’s the only game that I ever played that when I finished it. I immediately started a new data and played the whole thing again. But one major thing I disagree with! Arthur is the best man! Haha!
Arthur is pretty great, what was the main thing that set Arthur apart from the rest for you?
RaPWNzel's Tower I just loved his character arch. All of his heart scenes were very really sweet. I usually go for the tsundere characters but I found Arthur’s calm and sweet demeanor very refreshing.
Arthur has the best behavior of the bachelors, but the illustrators gave him a claw hand (the one he uses to hold his book), and I just can't get over it. It looks so strange. 😂
I’m an Arthur fan for sure lol he’s not the most handsome but when he flew in on the airship to help when fighting the last boss I was like damn that was a badass move.

One really nice thing about the game is that leveling up skills will help you in all the game modes. When you level Farming it boosts your HP/RP/vitality while decreasing RP use which helps when dungeoning. Leveling weapon skills increases some offensive stats but also raising max RP which is useful when crafting and farming. Every skill you level increases your effectiveness in all the different faucets of play so no matter what you're doing you are at least being slightly productive and adds a sense of flow into all the activities in the game.
Your personality that shines through in these reviews is just so precious, total joy to watch and listen to

Rune Factory 4 is also one of my all time favorite games ever. I have played through the storylines of literally every single bachelor/Bachelorette. Dylas was my #1 during my very first playthrough.
But to be honest, they (almost) all have absolutely amazing storylines. (Kiel's is meh)
Although Dylas and Leon were my favorites design wise, my new official favorite is actually Arthur.
If you haven't taken the time to go for Arthur and discover his storyline, DO IT!
Arthur's storyline is so well written and heartbreaking.. and it just made me fall in love with him as a character. ❤

I remember when I first played the game. I wanted to marry Doug but after I wasn't able to get him above friendship level three I gave up and married Vishnal. Years later I finally managed to marry Doug. (I finished the game but was already married and at the second go I was lazy with the story ;-;)
When Neverland went bankrupt it crushed my soul Q.Q however when Marvelous picked up the Neverland Development team I had hope and now here we are. I'm so freaking happy that we are getting a RF4S and RF5 especially RF 5!!! RF 4 and Tides of Destiny were prolly my favs and honestly Tides was mostly just because its ocean based :D

Personality wise Kiel is actually pretty cute but he just looks way too young to pursue seriously. Otherwise I agree with the bachelor list as it is.
For Bachelorettes Clorica is my bae, I used to give her apple desserts pretty much everyday lmao. Then it’s Dolce, Forte, Margaret....etc (Amber has same problems as Kiel except I don’t even find her all that cute either)

Just here to say thank you for the recomendation! I was looking into this game for my birthday last year and this video was what finally convinced me to get it! It's since become my favorite 3DS game and one of my favorite JRPGs with nearly 100 hours into it.

If you haven't played rune factory 3, i highly recommend that you try it. RF4 takes its mechanics straight from RF3, but with a different story, obviously. Still, 1 and 2 are very, veeeeery outdated, for example: npc routines in those are just an ilusion, as you could follow an npc and he would just disappear in the next screen, and quests were repetitives, so can't recommend those. RF3 and 4, on the other side, can really give you that feel of a community that is alive, and that don't depend on the player to exist.

I’m actually new to the whole rune factory series - RF 4 was my first time getting into ( 2015 )! And man I’m happy that I got to play it!! I love everything about it!! From farming, taming, and to all the characters that were made! I even made to the end game and just restart the whole adventure again lol
After I discovered that they shut down and stop making RF 5 I did have a little tear in my eyes lol because I knew I wouldn’t find a another gem like this again
BUT
WHEN I HEARD THEY WERE MAKING RF4 FOR THE SWITCH and Making RF5 I damn near cried lol
Now we get to enjoy the adventure again on the tv now! I CANT WAIT TO PLAY AGAIN!

The only thing i didn't like is how in the beginning, instead of introducing yourself to each and every resident... it was just a quick montage. The events activate in random. And... the game does not utilize the voices of the characters as much as RF3 does. But there are a LOT of improvements and new features which I am delighted for.

Ehhhh I’m not big into Dylas. I like his design but he’s so mean! He throws off the vibe of the generally nice town. In my opinion Vishnal and Arthur are S tier. Vishnal has really stolen my heart he’s so cute and I love that he asks to call you princess. And he BLUSHES while asking??? Adorable. While Arthur’s hair kinda throws me off, I dunno his voice is very pleasing and he’s just a really smooth guy. I have the Japanese audio on cuz I’m a weeb so he may sound different in English audio. Though I think I made the right decision because Clorica’s sleeping sounds in her cutscenes are waaaaay cuter.
I agree with your girl ranking tho! I love Forte and Margaret a lot. Margaret is really touchy with the female player which instantly made me like her. I wish Nancy was dateable tho, nurse milf after my heart. My biggest flaw with the game so far is that Amber is dateable. Just feels so weird to me cuz she looks and sounds like a little kid. Same with Kiel honestly.

My cousin and I are huge Farm Sim fans, but we’ve only really played Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley. We’ve known about Rune Factory, but we’ve never given it a chance. We’ve both been surprised by how great this game has been!

Also I love Dylas and his crazy loud fishing habit. I almost went after him until i started to notice Arthur, who ended up being my #1 in the game (Forte #2, if only i could date her 😭). Smart, glasses obsessed, and his voice ALL are perfect.

Honestly, the rune factory series is amazing and no one can tell me otherwise.
Going back to harvest moon was hard. Seeds are expensive, seasons completely kills your plants(you can literally plant on any season in rune factory ex. Turnips are summer crops but u plant them during spring). Festivals are impossible early game. And stamina drains so so fast and you can’t train a skill to gain more. Relationships were way easier to build in rf4.
And most importantly holding down the A button to you pick up multiple of the same item was so convenient.

I hope Special will fix that god awful Act 3 ending. I mean true, Act 3 technically isn't "canon" but considering how difficultthe whole dungeon was(without cheesing it on the easy difficulty) i think we deserve something better as a reward than what we got in the base game. Also please, PLEASE remove RNG based marriage events. Christ it took almost 2 in game years for Xiao's event to finally trigger. GET RID OF THIS INSANITY PLEASE!
