Yes! I love me some Wayno! I love hearing his perspective on not only hip hop but life views. His hip Hop commentary isn’t so bias unlike some of these other platforms. Of course everyone will naturally have biases favoring the “era” they grew up in but he definitely keeps it objective and I love it!
Been following you since Everyday Struggle, even met you briefly when you came to my Foot Locker in Jersey some years back. You was/are a cool dude and i hope this new venture is successful. God bless brother!
wayno making history 🔥you’ve came so far over the years and been such an inspiration in my life and im so excited to see what more you accomplish in the future
The funny thing about what Wayno is saying is, if any of those 2 would have followed his ideas for the diss, they would have lost FAST. This started with music and from the very first legitimate track (Pushups) Drake had already put a family member in the fray. The Tupac stuff might hv been cool to you, and the idea behind it was interesting but execution was ass, but again we're playing in a world stage, every step has repercussions, and the music is supposed to paint a picture. This is a battle for hiphop so each song is supposed hit different points, it cant all be about 'high energy'.
Kendrick got approval from pac’s mom and treated the use of the Tupac interview on his album with much respect. He saw pac as a kid and he was heavily influenced by him. The Tupac estate was fine with it that’s why no one had an issue. Not the same with Drake who just used AI Tupac as a joke
Wayno my brother, it’s always good to see you share your thoughts on the game. Your insight is refreshing and overall I just rock witchu 💯💪🏾🔥 I do miss your podcast with Eden though. Y’all were a fun combo 💯
i enjoy your objectivity but the pac take is kinda off. i think people were more upset because of the use of AI to put words in a dead man’s mouth. kendrick got permission to use that interview from the family. drake used AI for beef. it’s not the same.
I understand your point but this is a beef. Why wouldn’t Drake capitalize on Kendrick’s love & sensitivity for PAC, LA & Compton? If I’m Drake & own Tupac’s ring why wouldn’t he use that to his advantage?
@@DominicHolder-nn3um not saying i agree or disagree with the choice. was more so explaining why i think it bothered people. i personally think berg has no rules, and if the goal was to antagonize it worked and very well lmao.
20:08 i definitely understand and somewhat agree with you, but if we keepin it a buck. Drake started all this goosip and kept running with it, it should have been why im a better lyrics than you instead "is your son yous? Do you beat your wife? " Thats all Drake
That's the issue, Drake thought he could weaponise the antics, the internet, his fanbase and public opinion. And further more thought the 8 mile self-dissing move works in real life. In my opinion, after the ghostwriters, Drake should have never been put in no top 10 much less top 3 in hiphop. He's still a great entertainer and makes alot of money but if you cant even verify if a diss song is written by him what exactly are we doing?
What up Wayno! I like to say firstly that I'm super glad that you are able to get your own show out and get your original ideas out as well glad you can start real conversations about music and culture. @11:37 I have to disagree with this stretch of comparison What Kendrick did and what Drake did are completely different in action and intention. One used his actual thoughts and feelings to convey a message and other constructed a synthesized version of the artist's voice to convey their own actual message. I've been seeing a couple people compared the two but I believe that is a wrong way to go. Of course you can always make the argument about how conceptually it can be seen as similar but when you literally sit both things side-by-side you can see that there is no comparison.
Literally the most objective person on this entire situation! Social media is so corny & one sided. All these grownups doing skits & comedy just to hype up Kendrick
I agree it’s a stalemate. I think it’s a draw. The personal shit is only “tea” and as a artist, from New York, growing up listening to rap beef, I see the change where it’s now about who wins in the court of public opinion, who wins social media. We’ve gotten too far from where the epicenter is frfr. It’s about the bars and who’s better. 21:25
i also agree drake should’ve stayed focused. kendrick was the only guy that mattered, should’ve locked in. y’all been goin back and forth for 10+ years bro who cares who jumped in.
@@Wayno119 Euphoria is sick but MTG is too just diabolical. People had Kendrick as the winner from that track alone and when not like us dropped it was shooting a dead corpse at that point
Idk Wayno, I kinda didn't mind hearing Ross Drop something, because he's a dope lyricist. But I agree it was a distraction, and not what the majority wanted to hear, but I still bump Champagne Moments.
lol man I said the same thing to my homies that’s it’s a draw and they said I was tripping too lol Real great unbiased take … it’s like only few I see on social media
MTG was like a Donny Hathaway record. Not low energy but diff intense energy. That alchemist beat was haunting. He felt like the boogeyman fr. Most of all it stepped on MTF which to me was Drakes best record. I think those who really mess with Mr Morale appreciate it more becuz that album was heavy. He took em to therapy on that track. I dug it.
Tbh rap battle outcomes are really about each fan's stance in life in general and how these rappers spin narratives. The Meek beef got Drake with ghostwriters(which in my opinion should have put him in some Flo Rida hip pop catergory not pure hiphop)but the clowning and the club records got mainstream fans saying they don't care about writing. This would have canceled most rappers 10 yrs prior. This time around, it switched up, a bunch of people were against Drake. Very similar to Ja Rule, except Drake was still the mainstream darling and didn't have the fbi on him. It was on him to switch the narrative but he made a TON of mistakes, similar to what happened with Pusha. This isn't about the disses you like or how you wanted it to go, it's about turning public perception against your opponent. Even in the Nas/Jay beef, Jay's condom line was the most disrespectful but he didn't read the audience enough to know where to draw the line and when to be more cerebral. Nas gave a character assassination based on what people knew about Jay. Same thing here, Kendrick has been too quite, calculating and 'authentic' for people to not trust or believe him. Drake, on the otherhand, had has too many unsavoury stories about him floating around, he's always using people's girls in music, plus he got no support from alot of other artists he worked with, even some Canadian ones, which makes him look like the bad guy. He would have been in a better position if he went at it from a John Wick movie angle. What i mean is John was kind of wrong for killing so many people over a dog but went about it in a way where it wasnt totally his fault(he asked for the main culprit but they wouldn't give him up so he had to killed a whole army first to get to him) always keeping the main guy as the main thing. Drake went left with it and tried addressing everyone alittle to much, doing the internet antics and started going for soft targets like family members and managers. Even the Tupac/Snoop thing made him look like he didn't understand culture before Dot came in. He literally pitched himself as the antagonist to 'Hiphop's Savior' the use of those legends and what he said in those rap. Aside from that he turned the whole westcoast against him, as if he didn't have enough enemies already.
Yeah to me Drake should've avoided the beef the energy was against him , the LGBT diss and pedo allegations will haunt him. He was never meant to win the beef . He should've went away like he said he would. J Cole is the Mole
I really dont think the best way to grade a rap beef in its entirety is by your taste in diss tracks. You can grade each track according to what you like. But if youre looking at the whole thing its got to be more than "the energy was too low". Its like grading a horror movie meant for 18+ by the experience of a 7 year old. Going back and actually listening to tracks almost makes it look like K knew what was going to happen before it did, everything seemed too calculated.
And I believe whether Drake wins or losses this beef solidifies his position and legacy as ONE of the top niggas to ever do it. Like 50 was battling like 5 niggas at once, PLUS a whole rap group. Drake gotta fight in all fronts, so if he win they gone say he beat like 20 nighas by himself. If he losses they gone say “but he was battling 20 guys at once, how could he win?”. This make it look like yall had to fork like Voltron or to beat 1 dude. 12:58
