I agree about the job big b did and the lack of thought from tfl. Common sense and dgc(don't give a crap) are in abundance. I watched another guy who is doing the same hydro boat as you screw his strut into the back and didn't bother to bolt it, just machine screws in it. He was taking it for a test drive. On the second run he's going full trigger. Fortunately nothing bad happened but I was just cringing the whole time. Not everyone gets their full portion of common sense.
Actually, the transoms on Oliver's hulls tend to be somewhat hefty (often 1/8" thick), so I wouldn't be too freaked out about bolting directly to the hull with tapped holes on the smaller boats. The larger boats are another thing entirely and usually need additional structure on the transom to feel all warm and fuzzy when running.
