Thread wire set is used to measure threads as you are cutting them in a lathe. Three wires of one size are used at the same time. One huge trick is to lay a cloth or shop rag over the ways so when you drop them (and you will) it's easy to find each wire. I carefully balance two wires on top of the thread one thread apart and carefully hold the third directly under the two on top. Carefully capture all three in the anvils of your micrometer and get a reading. It sounds complicated but after a few times it becomes old school. The chart provided with the wires shows which set of three to use for which pitch of thread and gives the dimension of over nominal size for proper thread size.
You use the thread wires together. 2 of them on one side one on the other. Measure across them and subtract the thickness of one pin. Disclaimer, I have dedicated thread mics so I haven't used pins in 15 years.
Buying dial indicators adds up fast! I'm not a machinist but I bought a lathe so i'm going to try and teach myself a few things. Not like I need another hobby but always wanted to learn. Like always, thank you for watching!
I do let you know what I paid towards the end. Thank you all for your continued support! Have a great weekend!

Thanks for all the info! Thanks for watching!

They don't seem easy to use, especially with one person. Thanks for watching!
@@thetoolbandit Touch of grease on the threads will hold them to measure.
That craftsman box and sockets r awesome
The smaller indicators are dial test indicators. They measure in much smaller increments. Usually 0 to .060 or 0 to .030
Thanks for the info!
Great enough deal for me, nice find!
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
Nice finds! I have that same circle H breaker bar in my craftsman collection, it is an awesome piece. You’re lucky to have the tee handle!
Yep, that is usually the piece missing! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for Sharing! I am not a Machinist but it seems like a great deal as far as the price. Thanks Again.

the pins are for measuring threads on a bolt.
I watched a video on how to use them, doesn't look like the easiest process I've ever seen. Thanks for watching!
