    Wonderful! I had planned a similar trip years back, as I wanted to visit the Rogers Canyon ruins but didn't have a vehicle that would handle that road. On my first day out a nasty late winter/early spring storm rolled in, dropping snow on the higher elevations and freezing rain me. I was not at all prepared for that, was losing too much ground and had to turn back. The next year I bought my truck. Thank you for showing what I missed.

      @MoonJuiceHikes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man! I never noticed there were enough connecting trails to hike all the way there from Peralta - technically, no truck needed if you want to make it a 3 day trip.

    Hi MoonJuice! Thanks for taking us into the eastern Superstition Wilderness. I have limited my hiking to the western Superstitions plus Boulder Canyon TH and Peralta TH due to limited trailheads in the east and driving a 2WD sedan. You showed me sections of the Sups that I had not seen before; i was surprised at how much water is available in the eastern wilderness. Good job!

    • @MoonJuiceHikes
      @MoonJuiceHikes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey PW! I love the western supes, so many great trails. A lot of the eastern routes are foreign to me as well, I enjoyed exploring them (except Hoolie Bacon, it mostly sucked). There is still more out east to explore, that haunted canyon looks interesting. Glad you enjoy these videos, I appreciate your comments! 👍

    Looks like we're on similar paths out there again. Was out around the same time doing an overnighter to Herman's cave and we scoped out that coffee flat loop for next time out. I've totally spotted that Subie at the trail heads a couple of times! Solid video as always.

      @@MoonJuiceHikes Not yet. We did a 3 day out that way last month but it was snowing and our stuff wasn't rated for those temps so we bailed after the first sleepless night.
      Was just leaving a reply on that video, lol. One of my favorite destinations so far was Devil's Chasm, if you haven't already checked it out. The road out there is rough but if you add a couple miles to your hike there is a parking area before it gets real bad. If you did a few days out there you could hit all the ruin sites. Absolutely stunning place.

    22:24 I saw this campsite on my way back from my campsite the night before that was further out of the canyon in what proved to be condensation city. This site looked much drier and more scenic. I was kicking myself for missing it. This loop was awesome! I make these kinds of routes up but have yet to tackle them

    • @MoonJuiceHikes
      @MoonJuiceHikes  ปีที่แล้ว

      I know exactly where you were, up on top of the canyon! I also camped there a few weeks back and that's how I found this campsite too. Lol! I didn't have my rainfly on until we noticed ice crystals starting to form on everything while we were chilling by the campfire. I grabbed water from that little stream near the Red Tanks / Hoolie Bacon sign, drug it with me into the canyon. It was just about dried up....doubt it will be there next weekend.

    Great video, I was able to see on my computer where I dad been (mostly) years ago. I'm sure it takes a lot of effort to film these scenes. We first visited from Germany in '92, late May + June, and were always amazed to see nobody out there (rented sedan, to 1st water and Peralta trailheads), temps were usually reaching +-100. Later we had moved to CA and I have a Nissan Pathfinder 4WD and was able to get to trailheads like Rogers Trough and Woodbury, although I was still worried about the creek crossing on the way in, had some good sized boulders. I was wondering where you can get actual trail conditions these days (like after the fire), we had the hikers guide from Jack Carlson, but that is > 20 years old now. Hoping to make it to Reavis Ranch and get some apples, we tried Thanksgiving around 2012 but light was too short for a day hike in and out, had to turn around early.

    • @MoonJuiceHikes
      @MoonJuiceHikes  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a really good question. I’m not sure where to find road conditions for the dirt roads out there. You can definitely make it to Reavis with a 4wd, my little Subaru gets there with no problem all at. The only challenge is directly after a rain, otherwise the road is good.

    Fantastic!! I am guessing you had to backtrack a bunch of times to setup the camera to get some of this shots of youself coming down boulders, passing by etc. I would soo love to be physically able to do a solo pack in like this...but my days of backpacking have passed. 40 years ago I packed into Coffee Flats and even that was tough. I really enjoyed your film and me laughing out loud about the Holy Bacon trail on scale of 1 to suck . Thanks for sharing your experience.

      You guessed right Joanne! TBH, hard hikes are a lot harder if you want to try and capture the experience in a way that shows what the hike feels like. I’m literally making a 2023 version of a photo album. I like watching the end result as much as anyone! 😁

    A lot looks rattlesnakey. You can't possibly follow the rule of 'watch where you step' as so much is impossible to see around as you put your feet down. Any suggestions on getting over that fear?

    • @MoonJuiceHikes
      @MoonJuiceHikes  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Isn’t that the truth! It is a little nerve wracking when it’s overgrown. Fact is, I just don’t see many snakes and I’m hiking just about every day in the desert. I did 800 miles on the AZT and saw one. Not sure why I’m not afraid of them, I probably should be more worried about stepping in one tbh.

    Epic is an understatement, nicely done sir👍. Were you nervous about staying on trail where the trail was pretty unclear??? Being way out and no clear trail would freak me out a bit. I have yet to explore this area that far out, looks great.

    • @MoonJuiceHikes
      @MoonJuiceHikes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. I was more nervous about time on an overgrown trail (it’s so dang slow). I hate trying to find camping after dark, in an unfamiliar place. With a Gaia GPS map, AllTrails, a Garmin GPS and a trusty paper map - no way I was getting lost, no matter how unused the trail was. Definitely more of a challenge though, adds to the adventure! Glad you enjoyed it!

      @MoonJuiceHikes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No idea. Not very significant though, I don’t recall any difficult climbs. Some of the trails were slow, boulder hopping and trying to keep my feet dry, but elevation gain was not an issue at all.

    disappointing; I have been to revise ranch even back when I drove my 1942 Willys jeep in there legally before it was a wilderness area, and I couldn't recognize anything that remotely looked like reeves ranch or the hundred plus apple trees that I saw every time I went in there, which has been a long time ago I admit, but still?
