    I appreciate that not only is this video fully captioned, but whoever captioned it corrected some of the presenter's slip-ups.

    I'm loving these lectures a lot.
    I am a professional Software Engineer and still I got a ton to learn from here.
    I would highly appreciate if we could get more of such content.

    Lesson for anybody who wishes to hold similar classes: (*) The *captions* and *the lecture site notes* are indispensable for this type of material. Such quick references are an asset during review as they obviate the need to search within the videos, an endeavor which can be quite time-consuming, not to mention infuriating xD.

    • @andrewferguson6901
      @andrewferguson6901 4 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      or, we can skip the literary masturbation and say that the notes are good because they're easier to search than a 50 minute video

      If there's a difficult subject, and it's made more difficult because the person teaching you is hard to understand, then it's a fair criticism as it becomes a hindrance to learning. This guy isn't too bad, though I've had science classes from people who barely spoke English (in an American university), and weren't able to understand my questions.

    As I understand that, when I stop a job, the context of the process is saved in the memory. Is there any way I can store on context on the disk. So I can stop my job, shut down my computer, start again my computer and then restart the job from where I left?

    • @miique
      @miique 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The color scheme is gruvbox-dark-medium. I'm not sure about the font but it looks like Menlo (or its customized version, Meslo). As for the shell, he's probably using zsh along with oh-my-zsh to take care of the theme

    Is there any benefit of using tmux over terminator?

    • @awalvie1060
      @awalvie1060 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes there is, you would use terminator if you simply were looking for a way to have multiple splits in a single terminal. Tmux on the other hand is extremely useful when working over SSH connections.

    • @JosueRodriguez08
      @JosueRodriguez08 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Tmux will run remotely and faster and have detachable sessions

    • @queenannsrevenge100
      @queenannsrevenge100 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Josue Rodriguez - I’ve found the detachable sessions to be critical, especially for extremely long updates and installs, or for very flaky remote connections.
      I used to use screen, but it seems to be deprecated out of some distros due to lack of maintenance.

    My tmux uses Ctrl-B (as well as the lecture notes) for tmux commands in case anyone was jamming their ^A wondering why nothing was happening.

      screen uses Ctrl-A and therefore many people likes to remap tmux to Ctrl-A

  • @iduran

    I don't know why people keep pointing at his accent. Wonder if everyone here are English native speaker and that's why they see this as too uncommon, or is the other way around, which in that case they should not even complaint about it.

    (no doubt though that he's extremely smart just that english isn't his first language)

      I recommend turning on closed captions/subtitles (CC). It helped me a couple of times to be able to skip back and then read parts that I couldn't fully understand. Plus, the person that did the transcribing fixed a couple of times when he accidentally misspoke on some examples
