    All the visual cues you added in this video to explain the capabilities of this tool were accurate and extremely help. I hated it in other people's videos when they just start clicking the bypass button on and off to show nuances like in mastering for example, things most noobs like will struggle to hear anyway, oh and even using different parts of the songs were even the instrumentation has changed....🙄

    Dude, that was great. Really cleared up a lot of things for me. I instinctively bought it when I saw it on offer but have been trying to use it to create virtual spaces in my standard speaker mixes as opposed through headphones, even though I appreciate the constraints of Binaural recordings. I was looking for something that would provide me with the capability to create different spaces such as when you use convolution reverbs. Have you ever used it in this way? Thanks again for the video. Actually if you have any plug ins that you would recommend providing virtual spaces for 5.1 mixes that would be really appreciated. Using Reverence from Steinberg which I like and Audioease which I don't really like as it is a bit gimmicky for me.

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you enjoyed it! I've dabbled with convolution reverb but not enough to comment. To be honest, as I mentioned in the video, this was my first foray into 360 audio. The concept came to me after using the plugin on the first day. As for 5.1, dearVR covers this off plus 25 others. I don't see why this can't be an option for 5.1 . Obviously your DAW needs to be setup properly to do a full 5.1 mix. And you need the speaker setup. But once that is established, could this not be your go to?

    • @digitalmixes1812
      @digitalmixes1812 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@LonelyRocker Hey man, yeah I have a proper 5.1 setup but can't seem to route it how I want it to be. I';; keep fiddling. If I come up with anything I'll let you know. And if you DO suddenly come across a convolution reverb that makes your hair stand up on end let me know ha ha. All the best and keep up the good work.

    The directions of the guitars are sounding absolutely perfect to my ears, but the hight of the signals are not as accurate. Especially the "Lead-Guitar" appears higher up in the headphones as it appears in the video.
    Is this due to my audio setup?

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That could be for varying reasons. Mainly my interpretation and knowledge of the plugin at the time. There are height adjustments you could make. I don't think there is anything you could change in your setup that would make a difference with the perception of height but there are tweaks that can be made within the plugin. That being said, even physical surround systems will have "height" limitations depending on where the speakers are placed. Perhaps you just have a very finely tuned ear :)

    Hi. Great video as always. I like what this plugin is doing. But I may be alone here... my mind seems to recognize there is something wrong here and when I listen to the processed versions my head gets a little dizzy. I think something in this procession is weird under the hood and some sensitive people recognize it. It's live with those digital projectors which have a colour wheel. It can spin as fast as it can, I always see the rainbow effect ;) Cheers

      @@LonelyRocker I think your comment is spot on. How are your results when using on a single instrument in a usual stereo mix? I heard the plugin is only capable of processing mono tracks, it's that true? Thank you. Have a great weekend.

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nichttuntun3364 Logically when creating 3D mixes you use a collection of mono signals and place them in a 3D space. Stereo doesn't make sense in this case because you are working with the extra dimension. It won't translate. But mixing in stereo you can absolutely use this plugin to create hyper stereo tricks.

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome, thank you. If you are working in true surround with at least 4 speakers you can take of the headphones and do it for real. In 2 channel with speakers, from what I can tell, you can mix normally. You won't feel the 3d space but the plugin is killer when creating space and depth in a traditional stereo situation. Gives you more options than just slapping a reverb on a track. If you try it that way let me know...

    Hi Lonely Rocker! I am hoping you are still out there. Sorry for dropping you a comment this way. I am wondering if you can provide me with some direction. The documentation for DearVR Pro is OK when it comes to using the plugin but of no value on how to get it. (bounce or render) to a format that I can use.
    I use Pro Tools and Nuendo. So I know the setup/workflow for each will be different. I make music videos and short videos that I would like to include spatial video for my TH-cam channel. I use Premiere Pro and Media Composer and would like to add/import (Binaural, Ambisonics or Multi-Channel) audio and output as needed. In this case YouTub.
    Lonely Rocker and you help with this workflow?
    Kind Regards,

      Hi Rob. I'm very much still here. This was actually one of my favourite videos but I'm really not an expert in these audio formats. And I really focused on Binaural. I was a little confused about the setups too. I can't say for sure but I assume your audio interface needs to conform to these formats (I could be wrong). Have you tried contacting Dear Reality? As I'm not a Pro Tools guy I wouldn't be much help there. They seem very approachable. I hope you can find some assistance. Keep me posted...

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All you do is bounce out your stereo track and the effects you hear will be applied. Remember, when you are working on headphones you are actually working in stereo. So the surround effects you are hearing are being simulated through the DearVR algorithm. Once you bounce it out, all of those effects are printed in your mix.

    Great video, thank you! It looks like you are using the Ambisonics approach with this? I'm looking in to doing some mixing with either Ambisonics or Binaural, from what I can gather only TH-cam and Facebook currently support Ambisonics, so for a general streaming release on Spotify etc it seems that the only option would be to use Binaural?
    Might be interesting to add some details on the differences between the two, I'll definitely be doing some comparison of the two although I think a TH-cam only release is probably not a good idea...
    Thanks!

    • @stumaxwell
      @stumaxwell 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there @@LonelyRocker, oh right , you set up surround outputs in Logic, perhaps I'm mistaken as I'm new to this; Binaural is just a stereo format so no surround set up should be necessary?

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stumaxwell Exactly. It's the best way to simulate the surround effects in Stereo. The cool thing with the plugin is you can simulate all different surround formats working in stereo. In the future, you could move a project to a studio that can handle true 360 formats for final output. Let's you design bigger formats in a smaller 2ch home studio. It's pretty cool. Note the "occlusion" setting. This setting helps you place sounds behind the listener. Have fun!

    • @stumaxwell
      @stumaxwell 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok cool, I'm curious though what was the reason for setting the output to surround / quad in the example? Thanks 😀

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, I see the confusion. I forgot that one point. The developer suggests setting up your DAW project in Quadrophonic but using the plugin setup as Binaural to process the simulated 3D audio effects. The final mix will be bounced down to stereo but this combination of settings will give you good results for simulating surround on a stereo system. Let me know if this makes sense.
