    This is the best test for this cameras I've seen so far. I'm using the Sony since two years and the test shows how terrible the sound gets in windy conditions. I always put a small dead cat over the mic. This helps a lot. I use the natural profile all the time. Most of the time, it needs a little bit more contrast and color saturation in post and looks much better than vivid.
    I'm using the camera fixed on a bicycle a lot. This leads to much smaller but faster movements, vibrations and shocks than handheld. Unfortunately nobody has done a test for this yet (or I missed it). For now, I'm happy with the Sony and see no reason to switch.

    Hands down, the best comparison of these cameras. LOL; I was actually in the process of conducting research to possibly update my Sony with something new and possibly better but after seeing this-no freaking way! Yes, in some areas the hero 8 has better image quality but that issue is broad. For stablization; the BOSS system on the Sony has never let me down and I primarily use it for cycling. The hero 8 (IMO) is a bit to stable to output a reality form of video. No movement-NO! In terms of sound, there is hardly much to compare, as the Sony is king here. The Osmo really was out of the running throughout the comparisons. Just think, the darn Sony is maybe 5 years old and it still holds it own. Imagine if they upgraded the freaking thing!

      I own the Sony. If I was buying a new action cam today and did not have one at all I would probably try the hero 8. Yet, I would not replace my Sony with the hero 8 because it does not excell enough in areas that I use it for. The Sony is just a great form factor, great sound, and better "real looking" stablizaton. As I said, if I did not have one at all, I would buy new tech, and that would be the hero 8.

    With the front facing display the Osmo Action takes the cake. GoPro failed on the Hero 8. The rest of them are ok but if I had to choose I'm going with the Osmo.

    Subscribed. I own the DJI Osmo Action and I'm using it for the videos I upload to my channel. It performs well in bright sunlight. It's garbage in low light (walking through a park on a cloudy day for example) when image stabilization is turned on.

      I think the weak point of the electronic image stabilization camera is the image quality in the dark...

    Thank you for your hard work putting this vid together, which should help many. Thinking of getting an action cam for Dual Sport riding. Many tubers in this area use the Pro 7 and on my side, carefully looking, as much as the Pro 8 has sometime an edge on sharpness or color intensity, I find the Pro 7 to be the best well balance for my eye in color rendition. The Sony and Osmo seem way off sometime, Osmo being too bland and Sony with a tint. I would also mention that as much as the Pro 8 has some new goodies, I find that the Pro 7 stabilized has an edge on sharpness compared to Hyper smooth of the Pro 8 and last, for many it will really suck not to have the replacement lens cover ability on the Pro 8 vs the Pro 7. There is more to add comparing the 2 with a lot of good new add-ons on the Pro 8 but with that lens stuff and the scratchy environment of trails/enduro riding the action cam may suffer, I think the Pro 7 is the best bet for that environment, with second choice being the Pro 8. I find the Osmo to be often too blurry in action and color/sound bland, and for the Sony, same seems to have less sharpness than the Pro 7&8 when in fast action and, at least on this video, I find the native white balance somewhat unnatural. Again thank you for this great video and if by miracle you read this to this point and have the time for a reply let me know if my impressions on these cams after seeing your vid match yours based on your uncompressed footage. Five stars video.

      You are checking very well. I pretty much agree.
      Regarding Hero8, I was worried about the phenomenon of colors becoming strange due to the effect of auto white balance (at low light). but, I think there is a possibility that it will be corrected by the firmware update.
      And after checking my Hero8 firmware version, I found an mistake in the description of the Hero8 firmware version in this video ...

    Да, японцы, конечно, сильны... Но они придремнули. Думаю, нагонят. Все камеры хороши, но восьмерка как-то уж с избытком; подозрительно... Всем производителям спасибо. Автору видео оценка "отлично", не знаю как по ихнему, наверное гут или ес, ес. В общем, класс. Спасибо.

    With the Sony on the outside of the rack, when turning circles to test the stabilizer, you do not get an objective result. The Sony being all the way on the outside will show less stabilized video as its velocity and range of motion is higher than that of the GoPro. The rest is well done.

    if sony only think about update Eis it will be great, or give any software, anything... sony has amazing image and it's the best in low light. Everywhere where it is good light and a lot of action only hero8/7 is good. Osmo turned out to be very weak in this comparison.

    • @AdamBoltGoldCoast
      @AdamBoltGoldCoast 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I have to agree. The Sony blew my mind with its quality in low light. I imagine that low light tech helps to keepa quality image when snorkeling in deep water and the light gets lower.

    Thank you very much for sharing! What‘s wrong with the Hero 8? In many scenes I like the Hero 7 even more. And Osmo Action‘s quality is amazing, too!

    • @BikeFunJapan
      @BikeFunJapan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think Hero8 is a very well-balanced camera. The bad points are...: it freezes occasionally, sometimes the auto white balance is strange, it seems to be sensitized in a dark place and noise increases, it is not optical image stabilization (optical image stabilization is only Sony ...) so it is compared to Sony there are more camera shakes in dark place, the power button is a little hard to press, and a protective lens cannot be attached. However, I think it's the most balanced of the cameras in this video.

    Here's my take; The Go Pro 8 cannot change lens, The 7 black can change lens only comparison is the stabilization and a small bit of saturation. The Audio is way better that the Go Pro 8 by far
