"I didn't think I would enjoy it nearly as much as I am" is said by nearly everyone who gives Tolstoy a try. What soon follows for the majority of those people is, "Tolstoy is one of my favorite authors". Happy reading, and it is great to follow your journey through this magnificent book :)
To somewhat repair a wet book- as soon as it gets wet- wrap in towel, place under pressure/weight to press out the water- apply cold air a fan or near windy window while in towel and under pressure/weight. For books that have been wet and dried from air dry or heat- get a spray bottle- re dampen the book- wrap in towel apply pressure and cold air/wind 9replace towel as it gets wet), you want to press out as much moisture. Air drying is not enough and heat drying can cause other issues ie- the expanding.
Oh my gosh when I saw how much your book expanded I couldn’t help but laugh out loud 😂 I hope it recovers but that really was funny 😂😂🤣 I’m enjoying your videos very much!
@@noorvb Ive been looking for this translation myself to read after you inspired me to take the plunge. I managed to find a copy today!! After seeing the enormous size of your volume (since it’s bath) my volume no longer looks anywhere near as daunting! 😂😂
I’m reading War and Peace at the moment too and I also found the death of Lise during birth quite a waste of potential for that scene, specially compared to how Tolstoy wrote the birth scene of Levin’s wife in Anna Karenina. Additionally, this might sound crazy but a book of mine fell in the bath once and the only way I could dry it was by heating it up in the oven in very (veeery) low heat of course.
GIRL!! I texted you on instagram but ig you didn't notice it, i understand! I mentioned how a couple of days ago my war and peace book also got so much water spilled on it, which reminded me of you... what a small world we live in!😭
Hahaha!! It did, thankfully; around the last 300 pages were most damaged, and the entirety of the book's volume and texture changed a bit. The cover was also affected (i have the same version as yours), so i had to bookbind it to keep it alive enough. It now feels like a study rather than just an entertaining read, which I'm kind of loving; it's giving a look and a feel of a genuinely beneficial source. I'm really loving this book, I'm halfway through part 2 of volume one, which is great knowing that I'm an average speed reader going through highschool exams as of the past 2 weeks. I've recently gotten into classics very much, and it feels like a pride to have picked up war and peace as one of the beginner picks; i can't also not mention how every single person that has seen this book in my hands didn't pull an immediate "woah what is this!".😆@noorvb
@yshcamehome Omg well done you for going through exams and everything and still picking this up!!!! I am the same 😂 everyone who saw the book after the water incident was like umm excuse me what on earth has happened 🫢 I’m so glad you’re enjoying it! Volume II is even better 😍

thank you 🤍 I agree completely!
War and Peace becomes Watery Sheets.

The book has suffered its own War and Peace! Hope the book lives, after you have put so much effort in it annotating it until the dip.
It really has!!! I know so sad :(( not sure if I should get a new copy and transfer everything over…

It was funny after the shock of it all 😂 ah thank you so much 💕

@kayparkin 😂 I’m very glad something positive came out of the drowning saga
I’d love to see more of your annotations! Love these videos
Also I kind of like the water damage! It adds personality!
maybe I’ll show them in my next video :) I like a little bit of water damage but the book had multiplied three fold 🫢
Hi Noor. I’ve watched your videos for a long time. I really enjoy them and look forward to more. Thanks.
Thanks so much :) such a lovely comment
That's so relatable!!!! Last Sunday my cat dropped some juice and now my copy of war and peace smells so sweet and looks so bad.
Oh no!!! 🙊
Not a video right under yours being recommended bc it is filmed in Bath, the region 😭😭😭
Omg no way 🤭

Yeah I agree, it is rather a shame! Haha not crazy - my boyfriend told me to do that but I was worried the book would explode or something 😂
@@noorvb Yeah, that was a risk I was willing to take, it wouldn’t have been the first time that I burnt a book by accident! hahaha

@@noorvb YAY! Can't waittt🥹💞💞
😂😂»Really enjoying it..» So drowning didn’t work. Try leaving it on the stove or let the cat play with it a bit.
I did the same with a German grammar😂
Hii
Crampy is my new favourite word 💜
