    There’s a “hose” called a Noggle (or something like that) made to go over car vents and carry heat or AC to the backseat. It might work to bring the heat inside.

      I’m so glad you figured it out.
      These are not meant to be ran off of cigarette lighters. 😢
      They don’t put out enough amperage.😮

    What was done at about 11:40? If the heater was wired directly to the regular battery, then why was the Goal Zero needed? So I know how to do it. Thanks111

      Hey Teri! The goal zero is wired to the extra battery because that provides me with a way to Solar charge the battery because the goal zero has a charge controller. You could just hook it up to a battery and it would work. You can see my solar video for more info.

    I just bought this to put in my old discovery 2. 😊 worried about how to handle the power situation though. I don’t know if battery will supply enough 🤔

    I'm thinking about doing similar heating. I think if the burning takes place outside, you can use a nice sized propane tank.

      Are you thinking of using a buddy heater with propane? I'm not sure how that would work because the propane heaters I know of get pretty hot, but don't actually blow air. Getting that hot air into the van would be tough. Maybe you're thinking of a different kind of heater though?

      I imagine that I can hang a large thin metallic tube off the window opening, almost reaching the ground outside. Pass the tube thru the flame and heat up the air inside the tube. This hot air will flow into the compartment by convection. There is no danger of toxication by design.

    My second favorite character is the camera operator's finger lol
    I'm really curious to know how this works out in the field. I just found your channel like 45 minutes ago if you've already made a video about it I guess I'll find out

      Haha! It works well in the field, but not so well when I don't need it and I have to sleep with it in the van. It's a little stinky.

    A few questions:
    1. So it needs both gas and a battery to run?
    2. Could the gas freeze outside?
    3. Is it noisy so that if you were in a campground it would disturb others?
    4. What if you had a foot of snow fall overnight? That would block the exhaust wouldn’t it?

    • @minivancampergal1554
      @minivancampergal1554  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Bonnie! Yes, it needs both gas and a battery. The diesel is a winter mix so it doesn’t freeze. It’s pretty quiet, I don’t think neighbors would notice it. It’s nothing like a generator. A foot of snow would probably be troublesome. You’d have to be really careful of the exhaust building up under the snow and the intake sucking it up and bringing inside. I usually put my intake under the van so it doesn’t get wet. The exhaust pipe is hot, so maybe it would just melt the snow?

    What kind of ducting did you eventually use so your heater didn't error out?

    Why don't you just use a Mr Buddy instead?

    • @minivancampergal1554
      @minivancampergal1554  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have tried it, but it gets a little too hot. The head liner gets really hot, and I don’t feel comfortable sleeping with it on. I know it works for many people though!

      The Mr Heater Buddy heaters also give off a lot of moisture, as does any propane heating source. They are nice for certain situations, but terrible for others.

    You should probably stick to making sandwiches and let the guy hold into camera wire the heater up.
