In the industrial revolution, it is common knowledge that working conditions in factories were pretty bad, but what you dont hear is the reason these workers chose to work in those factories is because it was better for them to work in the factory rather than the farms.... In the US, we had the government send mercenaries and had the army drop bombs on strikers. Worker’s rights are written in the blood of our brave forefathers and foremothers. No one was grateful to die in factory fires or have their scalps ripped off by machine belts. Children were not better off working in factories before the child labor laws fought for by workers. Women getting equal pay was good for everyone, women got the money they deserved and men stopped being passed over for women because you could pay her less.

Your point about children were not better off working in factories, i think you are completely wrong in this point, maybe for some children it wasnt, but when you see children working in families at a young age, it usually means the family is poor and its either the kids starve, or the kids work and eat...... my mum worked as a kid, she was in a third world nation, i am glad she did work because that allowed her poor family to eat and go to school which allowed my mum to move to a first world nation..... Laws that stop kids from working voluntarily may have good intentions but can seriously harm families.... I support kids working voluntarily, i dont support kids being forced to work........
Also if government forces companies to pay women equally, this harms women and benefits men,
If a woman works harder than a man, then getting paid equally is unjust to the woman........
If a woman cant work as hard as a man and the government forces equal pay, then the women wont be allowed to work for less (sometimes working for less is still better than the alternative which is not to have a job at all)
Also if women should be paid equally for equal pay for equal work..... Then every male sex worker should be paid the same as a woman too (women get paid WAY MORE than a man does in that sector of work)

Wow, that's a pretty raw deal, especially for the guys doing this work long-term. I wonder if the quarry owners really are making a killing, or if individual owners are running on such razor thin margins that paying more or buying safety equipment (etc.) would force them to raise prices, and then customers would just buy from their competition instead.
Fundamentally, the real problem appears to be that there are so many manual laborers living in a place with so few resources, industries, and economic opportunities, and few if any have the mind (or maybe access) to improve things, learn something new, or move somewhere else. If there were fewer men around willing to do this job for so little, all of the quarry owners would have to offer better pay/benefits to attract workers, even if it meant raising limestone prices...and it sounds like those prices deserve to be a bit higher, considering how hard and dangerous this work is.
There are dangerous jobs everywhere, even the US, but at least here the workers have enough options (even now) that danger comes at a wage premium. It seems like the quarry workers don't place a lot of value on safety though, based on preferring the blades without coverings. It's a mentality that we have trouble comprehending, but it may come from a cultural mentality that "life is cheap" or something.

There's one factor of major importance you are missing out which makes your analysis pretty much useless : religion. Shame since everything you mention is true but does not apply to the Arab world. These people are raised to believe that god is the one who decides on every thing and therefore, revolting yourself against your condition( also created by god) equals having an argument with God.religious principles are used by the ruling, capitalist classes to subdue working classes into submission and poverty leaving the masses absolutely powerless because they live and die poor and assuring the status quo keeps going as the ruling classes get richer and richer through liberalism, the development of high tech and the increasing demography and so on. The only hope for these poor workers is to seek shelter in Europe. By doing so, they would acheive two goals : make a better life for themselves and their families and last but not least spread Islam across the world in other words, serve their god towards the fantasized domination first and then the ultimate illusive exclusivity of Islam. 150 euros a month is what would most workers get in Egypt if not less. If you raised their wages, the news would soon spread across the country and everyone would start asking themselves : why them, why not me. Somewhere down the line, retailers would start putting their prices up knowing costumers could afford to pay and before you known it, people would struggle same as before. I
IT's a doggy question. Some pretend they have the answer. Personally I believe there's no solution in a society based on consumption, production and money. There's opportunities to make it big but at the expense of the masses.

That would put most of these guys out of work, and seriously damage an evidently quite valuable industry within Egypt.
