Migrant hotels scandal: Brexit voters fury with Tories over immigration

  • More than 40,000 people have entered the UK via small boats this year, most housed in hotels across the country. Both legal and illegal immigration is at record highs and after repeated promises to bring numbers down, the Conservatives are under increasing political pressure to act. The Telegraph’s Steven Edginton travels to various migrant hotels to investigate one of the most critical issues facing Britain.

Nothing is ever going to stop this invasion until we withdraw from the ECHR, only then can we remove the pull factors responsible for this human wave. 4* hotels on full board can then be replaced with a tent in a field with soup kitchens provided by Soros' Open Borders Foundation in a similar fashion to the way they are treated in France. This would also make it possible to actually deport illegal immigrants without endless appeals, all at the expense of the hard pressed British taxpayer.

I can speak from experience now unfortunately around this whole mess. I had to leave my previous property which I was renting. Last year both myself and my father caught COVID-19 and in the case of my father he was admitted into hospital. He survived and then just before Christmas a couple of weeks later we both caught influenza. He was admitted back into hospital due to his breathing after he wrote his car off when he passed out at the wheel. Thankfully I didn't need to go into the hospital although it came quite close at times. I left my property and at the same time my father had to leave his. I've worked my whole life as a mechanic/technician but due to COVID-19 I have breathing issues and heart problems which are likely to last a long time so I am unable to work at this time. I was homeless and spoke to the council and was told my situation wasn't serious enough for assistance with housing so I had to sleep in my car. Migrants are literally turning up and being provided housing and free meals and it is sickening. They've paid nothing and given nothing to this country and in effect take the place which I think I have earned by working my whole life and trying to give to this country. I honestly just get the sense that this country is lost. There is no reason to have aspirations. I could work my whole life and I'd still only be able to afford to rent a property and be at the mercy of a private landlord. The councils don't care and make no effort and the entire sense of community I used to believe in has been lost in this country. I think the lucky ones got the hell out in the 50s and 60s and went to Australia, New Zealand and Canada. I know they have problems but their standards of living are far better and they keep a sense of country and community. I feel abandoned and disposable and those I trusted have let me down in favour of a foreigner. That hurts.

@Tracy Hi Tracy. When the government decided to level up the men’s and women’s pension age in the U.K. the first age bracket women to be affected weren’t informed with enough time to make any arrangements to financially compensate the fact that they would no longer receive a pension at 60. The term waspi is Women Against State Pension Increase. We didn’t argue that men and women should be different, but that we weren’t given time to plan. My own circumstance is I retired from work with Ill health and get a works pension. I don’t receive benefits. I am 64 so have to wait a year and a half for my state pension on top of the four years I’ve already waited. This has impacted my husband and my finances greatly. My husband actually stayed at work past retirement age to help us financially. The stories of some of the ladies who were affected by this change were truly devastating. The ombudsman found in the ladies favour, that the ladies who were first affected were not given enough warning. The government have failed to implement any type of reimbursement for the group. As I said previously, they would rather give the money to anyone else other than U.K. citizens.

I am furious my hard earned money is being used to house these economic migrants.
Where I live there’s a waiting list for social housing that’s got 34,000 people on it. And time and again migrants are housed ahead of local people. How is that fair?
Well over one million people waiting for houses in England alone. These migrants are treated better than British people, people who have paid tax and national insurance etc.
I work 60+ hours a week to afford my private rent. I was refused social housing because they deemed me able to afford to rent private. 3 square meals a day they get. I have one. Once I pay my rent council tax utilities etc I’m left with £200 per month to feed and clothe me. And dentists or doctors well I’ve had to pull 2 teeth out lately because I had an abscess and the nhs dentist said the first appointment they can offer was 6 months away. It’s a crying shame our useless government can’t sort this problem out but then not really surprising.

The 1951 treaty is totally unfit for purpose in the climate of today. In 1951 it would never, in anyone's wildest imagination, be imagined that a situation would arise where the sheer numbers of immigrants would constitute a threat to the fabric of a country, to it's people, it's public services, it's way of life, it's history and indeed, it's very existence. In my opinion the country would be fully justified in refusing now to comply with all the wholly outdated provisions of the treacty.

Why not throw some money at our own homeless, give them accommodation, new clothes etc......and let them have a go at filling some of the positions they're bringing migrants over to fill, like in care homes etc. Yes, admittedly some of these people are drug addicts etc. But some l have talked to, are quite articulate, and have just fallen on hard times. The million dollar question is: are all these migrants they have in hotels going to find work, or will they be a permanent financial mill stone around the taxpayers neck ?.....only time will tell. A dynamic leader and government with forsight: would of returned these people to the EU immediately, sadly people of that calibre do not exist in todays parliament. And don,t forget: all this has been caused by the EUs inability to control their own borders, and THEY, have let these people into their country in droves, therefore they should be
      returned to France...
..by doing that, it will make them sit up and take notice, and basically get a grip, and get this situation sorted.
