You can ask at any Pokemon center where to go next and it'll point you in the right direction. Also you used a ton of experience candies and leveled up really fast so that's probably why you feel over leveled
That’s not actually correct-Nurse Joy will tell you what to do that’s closest to you, not necessarily the thing that’s best for you to do at your level.

I don't play with Pokemon cards I collect them but I didn't know you made those cards I thought they were new Pokemon cards.
I know Adrive already beat the game, but here's a tip for new players:
Checking the descriptions on the map should help you figure out which objectives you should go for. For example, the map says that the grass and bug gyms are first stops for new trainers and that the psychic gym is powerful even among other gym leaders.
A Drive uses xp candies to maximize levels then complains about being over leveled
Well well well if it isn't the consequences of my own actions
The game gives you the candies and encourages their use by constantly showering you with them. The game encourages exploration.
The game then punishes you for doing those two things because you are overleveled . In Red/Blue there was what? 12, 13 rare candies in the whole game. In S/V you likely have a half dozen XP candies in your inventory before getting to the school.
Level scaling would rectify this situation entirely. Allow players that don't explore to play the game like they normally do, being lead around on rails. And for those that do explore, they have the game increase the challenge accordingly.
@@MegasXaos also not using the candies would rectify it lol. It's completely optional. Maybe use a bigger team to spread the levels. There are so many options. Sure level scaling is cool and I would like it too but I also like getting punished for fighting someone that has a level 50 Garchomp and I have Quaxly
@Black Boy Lost I didn't on my first play through. Classic rpg fear of needing them later and not having them.
The game was never a challenge. Level scaling would fix that.
I agree, I want to get my face rolled more so when I beat those guys it feels so good. But that only happened in the original and arceus.
I agree that their should be level scaling. But how can aDrive complain when 1 he uses exp candies 2 he avoids trainer battles which would help you get an idea of the levels in the area and 3 doesn't talk to Nurse Joy who would tell you where to go.
you can go to the pokemon center and ask where to go so you dont have a problem with the lvls.
She only tells you the closest place to go not the best place

I actually like the lack of scaling. You have to follow what the game tells you to do things in the "right" order. Makes it easier to plot things out for your team.
Also don't use excessive candies. You will get far overleveled. Plus actually pay attention to what's around you the trainer and wild mon levels are similar to the important battles. Also look at the map. The further from school the higher the levels in most cases. It's not that hard to figure out. Seriously. Iono is literally right next to Mela who is 25. Of course she's only low 20s 🙄
Favorite electric type is Luxray!! I use him in almost every game he's in, so I decided I would try someone else.
I honestly wouldn’t mind if you looked at an online guide, they tell you what order to do the challenges in based on level. I feel like it won’t spoil anything for you

Based on some of the descriptions for the gyms and the team star missions it sounds like they were going to implement skill level scaling but maybe they ran out of time? I will look forward to the wrong hacks which will implement that though.
Funny thing: Nemona actually has a level scaling team in game. So it IS implemented and CAN be implemented. Its just not on the mass scale we all wanted it to be.
Honestly, at the bare mininum, the main story battles could of had level scaling. You could of left wild and trainer battles alone and people probably wouldn't of complained as much.
QOTD: Lanturn I loved that light bulb. And not only that but the fact that my first one I caught had lightning rod was a happy surprise for me when I discovered what it does

I also wish it was level scaled but I understand why they didn’t. They most likely didn’t do it because it was there first open world traditional game and the didn’t know how to properly level scale.
my favourite electric type is chinchou because it is a silly little skrunkle and it also has a cool type combo. I'm quite surprised that only it, Lanturn and Wash Rotom have it, could be quite fitting for Tynamo, Eelektrik, Eelektross, Pincurchin, Tadbulb, Bellibolt. I hope it's typing gets more love in gen 10

When i started the game i looked ip the level of the gyms star bases & titans that doesn’t spoil the game them u can go to the right one every time

Luxray is my favorite electric type Pokémon. I’ll never change my mind.
The order from what I got in how the gym battles go based on what kicked my butt the most to how it's supposed to go, I got this order
Kathy or Brassius: lvl 15-20 max range
Iono: lvl 22-25 range
Kafu: lvl 26-30 range
Tulip and Larry: 32-35 lvl range
Ryme: 40-45 lvl range also it's a double battle if you read her description
Grusha: 50-55+ lvl range because he hits hard and is fast
Elie four plus champion: 55-65 lvl range max

About the levels I was able to find the correct path of the gym leaders, team star, and titans because of a map you posted on one of your video

Ok. On the topic of level scaling. It should absolutely be scaled based on the number of badges. Gym 1 should be level whatever gym 2 should be higher than that and so on. Also the amount of Pokemon the gym leaders have should increase and cap out at 6 by gym 6. Also the obedience cap should be absolute does not matter if it is newly caught traded or your starter if you overlevel they will stop listening. However if you are overleveled that is your fault for grinding (and nuzlocking so you can’t while at the gym you are severely underleveled for) before clearing everything you can. Don’t grind.

I never had any problems with the level scaling. I just did what I assumed was the correct order and it worked out.
the performance issues with the game are frustrating but it is ambitious and a good leap forward a few more tweaks and they will have something special. I am still astounded by the decision not to scale levels really makes the game feel weird and the random levels frustrating

If a tiny thing such as Pixelmon can level scale then Game Freak should be able to it is really annoying. They went above and beyond on the graphics and animations and even the story, but they got super lazy with the Pokémon designs and things that every game should have (Level Scaling)

I don't feel it should be leveling to your own pokemon levels, but it should level to your number of badges (as the pokemon lore - gym leaders have different teams). Then it doesn't matter which gym you'd do first, it'd always be 2 pokemon low level, and it wouldn't matter which gym you'd do last, it'd always be 6 pokemon high level. Then a player could still overlevel if they'd really want to.

Last gym you lost two life thinking you were over level. Maybe the pre gym battle are easy to make you think it easy but the gyms are tough. Just play it and have fun.
You have to walk with the dung beetle Pokémon to make it evolve into bug/psychic 1000 steps

I was 4 days late getting the game from eb games .. I get side tracked and just beat my first gym.... I will eventually beat this game then I got Scarlett to play next... I might be awhile.

People always harp on the level scaling- and I get it- but people don't realize _this is Gamefreak's_ first _open world game_ They aren't going to get it right the first damn time.

i kinda look at the lack of level scaling as Gamefreak's way of weaning themselves off of the linear formula that pokemon has had for the last two and a half decades. like they made a world where you can go anywhere at anytime, but there's still a clear path of progression that will provide you with the most fair challenge
that being said they probably shouldn't have marketed the game as being able to challenge the three storylines in any order while hiding the notion that unless you follow the path of progression it'll either end up with you getting waffle stomped by something that out levels you or you doing the waffle stomping against something that you've outleveled. but all things considered i think this is a step in the right direction for the franchise

Not only the lack of level scaling, but even doing things in the "correct" order ends up getting you overleveled, it's annoying.

Its hard to balance a game to offer challenge while also being accessible to a wide spectrum of players, this could be remedied with difficulty settings to customize how you would experience the game.
QOTD: Vikavolt is one of my faves, but I still love Raichu

I was watching this series for a bit while I played, but once you got ahead of me in the story with your episodes I had to stop watching. Coming back to it now that I’ve made it to the league (I spend way too much time exploring to progress in the game lol) - anyways yeah this game absolutely would have been so much better if it did level scale or at least guide us more closely on the order of who to fight going off of their top level.
The team star adventure started with the fire one due to plot points, but the dark one should be the first because they’re level 16-22. The fire one kicked my ass because it was level 25s.
The gyms they give us absolutely no direction on who to fight next. I had to look it up several times to know who I should fight next in order of levels. They should have this guidance within the game.
The titans I really did not struggle so I felt like I could have done them in any order at any level but after looking it up I guess I did them in the right order the whole time and that’s why I didn’t struggle lol I somehow got that right without knowing.
I’ve genuinely enjoyed the game, but it does have room for improvement.

Agree about the level scaling
To be honest level scaling wouldn't make the game harder it would just make the difficulty a straight line, even if you're equal to the gym leader's, titan's or Team Star captain's level they're still not that tough, NPC's don't use items, no held items, no EVs, I've never seen them switch, generally bad AI (for example when I was battling one of the Ruinous legendaries it never used it's super effective move on the pokemon I was using) and no gym leader has more than 4 pokemon, simply put level scaling wouldn't fix the difficulty it's flawed from the ground up.

Ya. The leveling in this game is weird. It makes for comedic moments when accidentally facing something super over leveled to you, but they really should have made it more obvious what the right order to do stuff is so the average player can avoid this.
Most of my 40 hours in this game is being sidetracked with sprinkles of story line
If you want to evolve the Pokémon rella you have to walk a thousand steps and then level it up

When I played I didnt Spoil myself any info except the correct order and level. But the game should be skill level or that u cant face higher gyms... That you could travel anywere you want but not enter in gym or star battle unless you defeted the prior ones.

Quick lore about redemption: He intentionally lost 2 lives to make it challenging since he's never lost a battle. So he did that for the challenge and the handicap.

Yeah, the trick to not being over-leveled is to find a new area in your level range, not to use candies to level up to the zone you want to go into. I do wish they had level-scaled the gyms/titans/star bases, but there are ways to be less over-leveled.
Favourite electric type tosses up between Ampharos or Luxray. They're 3 stage electric types that I just have major nostalga for due to how many times I've used them in playthroughs. Yeah, when it comes to these games, I reckon only the wild pokemon should've changed levels in the different areas, but gyms, titans and star bases should've scaled with when you chose to fight them.
Regarding the levelling, I feel like skipping all the trainer battles doesn’t help…you kind of get a feel for which direction is best for your level based not only on wild Pokémon but also the trainers in surrounding areas. Also I feel like you’re bound to end up over-levelled if you’re using lots of exp. candies in tandem with not paying attention to trainer levels.
Agree, in my playthrough I didn’t use any exp candies and the electric gym gave me huge issues with that Hex Attack. Actually had to grind some more levels
I swear, he doesn't even look at the map. Iono and Mela are right next to each other and he was under leveled when he did Mela so he should've went right to Iono and been properly leveled, but no, he went deep into the map instead not understanding how in the world he went the wrong way
I do think there should have been level scaling but the descriptions on the map give small hints as to the order as well as surrounding wild pokemon and trainers

I'm following a guide on what to do in what order. I feel like if they weren't gonna do level scaling they shoulda jus made the gyms and other quests in a specific order. Would have been waaayy less confusing. I tried Mela before Giacamo and the difference is night n day.
I agree but aDrive is the worst person to complain about this. He uses exp candies and avoid trainers which would help you get an idea of what level you should be around in the area.
You can also go to the Pokemon center and ask her where to go
