  • Welcome to the first Fan Follow-Up Episode! In this, I test my activated carbon’s filtering ability to ensure its efficiency and reliability. But before we do that, I break down the essential steps involved in further activation to increase its effectiveness.
    Testing Activated Carbon:
    Join me as I demonstrate activation techniques and share insights into the factors that influence activated carbon performance. Explore the critical factors that impact its adsorption capabilities, making it a go-to solution for purifying liquids and gases.

    To make a better DIY water filter, just cut the bottom of a water bottle off, tie a small doubled up patch of cotton cloth over the lid with some string, pour in your carbon, then diatomaceous earth, then a thin layer of sand and voila! It's a classic method shown in a lot of survival handbooks.

    Filtrate is not a verb! lol I dont know where that started, but i hear it from a lot of chemistry students.

      Your comment sparked my curiosity, so I searched, and according to Merriam-Webster, Oxford, and Cambridge dictionaries, the word 'filtrate' is also a verb. However, it is not widely used.

    Have you not mastered stereo audio editing?

      It is definitely an issue on your end. (Assuming you are an Apple user), go to settings. Find Accessibility and go to Audio & Visual tab. Turn ON Mono Audio. See if that works :)

      @@MolecularPlayground Not everyone wants to turn their device, which standardises to Stereo Audio into a Mono Device. you should definetly either clone your mono audio to a Stereo Output or just record in Stereo. would take your Channel to the next Level, besides that Good Job!

      @@josephgauthier5018 Yes. You would have to go on your settings and locate Mono audio there.

      @@MolecularPlayground Nope the issue is definitely in your editing process. You are the only TH-cam channel that plays through just the left channel. And I'm not changing a perfectly working system for one TH-cam channel.

    You're just plugging a hole, that doesn't show it filtering anything.

    • @MolecularPlayground
      @MolecularPlayground  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      If I was just “plugging a hole,” the build-up of chlorine gas (and pressure) would cause the carbon plug to pop off under my grip or possibly explode. The carbon block is very porous which allows air to be released (reducing pressure build-up) while retaining chlorine gas.

    I thought why not use this for my BP mixture? The porous structures “could” in theory host KNO3 and S particles or even hold air pockets that help in the oxidation process. But then I thought that may not be so since the milling would essentially “grind away” those pockets rendering the Carbon all but flat per-se. Anyway I used this stuff for my BP and it does great (why wouldn’t being that’s pure C). Great content without all the bs talk and “Pro” speeches we all have to listen to from other bozos claiming to be experts. Fuck I hate the “Don’t try this at home” bullshit when we all fucking know why we’re here and where else would most get started at? HOME dude! But I’ve yet to hear you say that stupid shit so I’m tight bro. Keep the vids coming pls.

      You have dethroned Waffel Staffel and become my new favorite fan! I’m definitely no pro, and I’ll never proclaim myself to be one (you can decide for yourself if I am ;). The only time I would say “do not try this at home” is if I’m working with super dangerous gases like halogens or dimethyl mercury (coincidentally, I plan to work with both if the future). Other than that, many experiments can be done at home as long as you’re prudent over what you do and how you do it.
