thought Darryl did a decent job.....obviously its impossible for any mere mortal to follow Mr harris, but lets give the man a chance, its refreshing to see a normal car buff give his thoughts etc.
Great car...and I think he nails it. The old S and RS cars were still "very fast" daily-driver capable cars. Now, as cars get more and more extreme, you're quickly losing the every-day-driver appeal. You don't need/want 19-22" wheels and hugely expensive tires and 20mm of ground clearance or 700+ horsepower in a car you're going to use every single day in all weather for all reasons. It's one of the reasons the original GTI was such a hit. An attractive, quick, useful car which was fun to drive. Now it's more expensive, heavier, and loaded with more tech/weight/power than it needs, etc.
Could not agree more. Far too much tech in cars now and the low profile tyres / massive rims are a real issue with the UK’s potholes (I know because I’m still nearly £2k out of pocket after one hammered my Audi’s rim and suspension, still in dispute with council).
Why was the Collecting Addicts Podcast ended without notice? It's fair enough ending it, but it would have been a common courtesy to let subscribers know. Some simple communication, manners, respect and courtesy goes a long way in this world.
It would appear that several of the CC team struggle to find Audis that they even like... and that includes the RS2 - th-cam.com/video/ufAIguRIu_o/w-d-xo.html
No-one in their right mind is going to daily an RS2! It's too valuable. The awesome sound is moreso the straight 5 rather than 'the turbo'. Audi back then were making quality cars. They were also minnows compared with BMW and Mercedes, looking to build their reputation with engineering integrity. They succeeded.
I hate to be the negative voice, but these are not great to drive. They are so cool and I love that 5 cylinder sound, but the are so laggy, wallowy and understeer like crazy. They are just hard to drive quickly and enjoy. I was a teenager when they came out and I drooled, never meet your heros......
@binits777 That doesn't make any sense at all. I'm not convinced that the environment is the real issue. I'm beginning to think that it's about forcing people to buy new cars. If governments actually cared about the environment, they'd actually try to stop the biggest polluters. Not people with fuel efficient cars. The biggest polluter in the world is the US military but no one is saying they need to cut back. Doesn't seem based in reality.
Chris will be back on his own channel, and we know he's got lots in store. We'll keep delivering as much great content as we can too. Hope you stick around.
Chris basically led the podcast and he left CC. He'll be starting a new podcast though, potentially with some of the regulars. All my info came from Chris's Instagram.
Noticed CH wasn’t in the opening sequence (but him driving that epic 911 is still there). Fair play to this guy but “let me show you this sound”, “I love the delay”, “It’s a perfect daily”, “I love how straight it is!”…..Not quite got a way with words has he. He strikes me as someone who’s only moderately interested / clued up about cars but is happy in front of the camera.
More utter drivel from a lacklustre ‘presenter’ by anyone’s standards this is a genuinely slow car, but that aside (because most cars from this era feel somewhat tardy now) it handles terribly. And let’s be honest… there’s ZERO punch in the back. In fact most enterprise hire vans feel considerably more responsive in modern terms.
I think its kind of refreshing to see someone else do this. Didnt think i could stand anyone else but this guy is great.
He is as great as Matt Watson.

Beautiful car. Thanks Darryl.
Glad you enjoyed!
If Chris Harris and co are doing other content and CC are doing new content then its a win, cars a beaut and Darryl is a good guy !! #notrollsrequired
hopefully hes driving in top gear
Appreciate the comments! Means a lot.

The 1995 Audi RS2 looks very nice.
That sounds absolutely magic. 👌
Good job and lovely RS.
Glad you enjoyed!
Wonderful sound. These cars always fascinated me.
I remember these when they were launched. Still gorgeous to this day.
Change is the constant in life but I do miss Chris Harris doing these videos. Ah well. Life moves on…
Chris will be back on his own channel, and we know he's got lots in store 🙌
@@collectingcars thank you. Appreciate the response back. PS - Hope the podcast comes back albeit slightly differently. All the best.
@@collectingcars did Chris and Edward fall out?
Well, that was brief.
Expected a bit more in depth tbh. Could have made this a Short.
Has chris harris gone to a different channel or something? I miss his videos so much!

Mint!
Oh my the sounds r perfect

Audi back then were making quality cars. They were also minnows compared with BMW and Mercedes, looking to build their reputation with engineering integrity. They succeeded.
They also were subtle designs, not the loutish aggression of recent years.

Agreed, I had a Nogaro blue ‘94, loads of lag and didn’t feel especially fast….I often wonder what all the hype’s about.
Nevermind the fact that it's also way, way cooler (and much more tasteful) than the new M and RS cars.
Feel bad for all the hate. Clearly, he's wrong because everyone needs an M3 touring, but it's a cool car and a cool video.
It is a cool car but not ulez compliant so not for everyone unfortunately
@binits777 Ulez seems crazy. I have an M3 V8 and it's compliant. It's definitely not an environmentally friendly car but is OK in Ulez zones.
@@johnthomson3070 it is crazy. I had a 2014 1.6 Tdi that was super efficient doing upto 70mpg but not ulez complaint so had to chop it in.

@@johnthomson3070 I totally agree. There is a much bigger (hidden) agenda here which Geoff has talked about in his recent videos.
I had the opportunity to buy a mint Negaro RS2 for 14k back in 2008.. yeah… I didn’t, and yeah, I should have
Nogaro kills the Q-car factor though.
Sold mine, M799 SAB back in 2004....still miss it, must admit. That howl and Q-car looks is a lovely combination. Ride was very firm, though.
Is that Neil Clifford's car?
No, very similar but from one of our other collectors
Really great video! Chris is a legend but this gent did a wonderfull job!

Fabulous car no Chris no deal 😮

Bless him, too young to know how great turbo lag feels 😂
Old school turbo lag. Very clean example though.
Laaaaaaag and dampers made of wood.
I still love the idea of this car, would be a great retro modern rebuild idea.
Definitely needs better dampers, but the lag was fun; felt like afterburner!
Come on... Has Chris Harris is the reason we are here, so please get back to it now
Where's the pod tho, no rush just curious. rs2 regardless of who's driving for the vid is a easy watch ❤
how many miles is it?
Have the podcasts gone too
Nobody sane would take this over M3.
Nobody has the balls, I'm afraid. BMW lost the plot many moons ago. Now people want a 30-inch ipad and 700hp driven by a battery.
I would 😜
I'd take the 6.2 AMG C63 wagon 💪

Meh.
Forgot to mention that prick of a clutch
The rs2 is special. Not sure you can save money buying one compared to the equivalent m3 touring.
I don't understand everyone commenting on the new presenter. Shouldn't we be commenting on the car
