    It's cool that Ibanez was willing to work out a design that departs from the original Vai spec guitars which was the foundation for the RG and below models.

    Great perspectives here. Reminds me how grateful I am to be from a musical family and have intervals etc be completely natural to me- I cannot imagine how hard it is to try to become musical if you are the type who can’t match pitch. Would help to have a teacher like Martin.

      @roba1899 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ok, I've got to add how dark Martin's guitar is on the clean channel .. it's llike he's getting a hollowbody jazz tone .. The Mahogany is suspect!

    • @treyxaviermusic
      @treyxaviermusic  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is recorded with a shotgun mic on the camera from several feet away, you can't use this as a tone reference

    • @roba1899
      @roba1899 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh no, I get you .. In all of Martin's vids though, his MM signature has this dark character on the clean channel like you'd get with a Jazzbox. I bet his instrument is rich in mids and round on the highs ..

      dezertson2011 is he really? I bought his improvisation master class . It’s not meant to give you instant results. I believe it’s meant to be a long term companion to fill in the gaps of your fundamentals. It’s a lot of information but not meant to be instant gratification

    Really interesting that Martin mentions that you have to get to the point where notes are just colours to you. Because I believe associating notes or keys with colours is what happens to people with synesthesia.

    • @maxvandijck6964
      @maxvandijck6964 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think he means the familiarity with the intervals should be the at the same level of your familiarity with seeing a colour and being able to name it, not hearing an interval and associating it with a colour.

    • @mescaliiiiine

      Harp harmonics, I recommend you to check Lenny Breau

    • @CMM5300
      @CMM5300 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Touch harmonics or tap harmonics. You hold a chord and touch 12 frets up from each note while plucking the strings with your thumb. Basically out line the chord one octave up. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Eric Johnson uses the technic alot.

    If you look at Wikipedia the myth about "b" and "h" being the result of monks writing it the wrong way is demystified. Anyway it is somehow fun to tell students these kind of tales.

    "if only I could magically get better at guitar......if only there was some practical way to do this....."
    Fucking practice till your fingers bleed. Then keep practicing once your scabs have thickened until they rip off.
    Then super glue em back on and practice more.
    I'm kidding. But seriously. Practice and try new stuff all the time. Don't play the same shit you're good at every day. Challenge yourself.
    There. I saved you from watching a video.

    I'm so bored with Martin Millar. When I listen to him playing with other guitarists such as Josh Smith, Paul Gilbert, Andy Timmons, they all blow him out of the water. Why is that? Because they aren't obsessed with technical skills etc. They have that but they also play from the heart that's effortless and I feel he's missing this. Go listen to Gary Moore Martin. Martin is a monster player this, monster player that, so what? I don't care!
