This is nice to hear. Wait until they fill that gap. There will be massive circles of brood. With the insulation down low, the temps are more consistent. You’ll see fewer bees hanging out on brood to keep it warm because the hives just stay warm. Fewer bees worrying about brood means more bees bringing in resources. Fantastic job, buddy! ❤❤❤❤

I haven't missed a comment yet :-). A package of bees would be the easiest thing to install in a new bee barn without drawn comb. If you have a NUC or another established hive you want to move into the bee barn you can take the drawn comb from the established colony and install it into the bee barn frames. It's not the easiest thing to do but it is doable. Those are about your best options in my opinion. Thanks for stopping in to have a look at my video and for taking the time to reach out. Can you comment or direct me to a video on how you take bees from traditional hives and install them into the BeeBarn? Or do you simply start from packages (assuming not nucs, or you’d still have that same challenge converting from one size frame to another)?
Hi, I’m interested in building a bee barn for my own bee colony. I see the success for overwintering and i understand it gives great protection to the bees. I’m looking for specs on how to build the hive and the large frames. Do you have a video regarding that matter? I do follow the Vino farm as well. Thank you for your help.
I don't have the specs but as soon as I finish my current shop project I will be building two more bee barns and may make a quasi how-to video. Basically all you need to do is pin a couple of boxes together, add 2"insulation all around, then clad with wood.
@@BugFarmerBees thank you that would help me. My trouble is more with the long frames. I have top and bottom part of frame but how do you make or connect the long side bars so they are strong and able to hold both “plastic” frames to be drawn without folding/ braking? Sure. I'll share the link if you share my channel :-) I'll share anyway, here you go: www.betterbee.com/marking-tools-and-queen-cages/qmt2.asp Thanks for stopping in to have a look.
Good episode! I dident see any hive-beetles and was kinda wondering if its perhaps offseason for them, or if you have bee(a)ten them? And if they are still a problem i was wondering if you have experimented with not giving pollen-paddies to a hive and seen if its made a difference(i have heard that pollenpaddies are beetlefeed, but we dont have hive-beetles in sweden, so i cant experiment on it myself :P) Edit: i made this comment before i watched your video from april 1st where you mentioned that u killed all the hivebeetles in the hive.
The hive beetle battle continues. I am pretty sure the Army and Navy hives in the back are ate up with them. I have seen a few flying around so I am pretty sure their season begins in the spring.
That’s more my issue. Thank you.
Very nice! Would you mind sharing where you picked up that queen marking cage?
And if they are still a problem i was wondering if you have experimented with not giving pollen-paddies to a hive and seen if its made a difference(i have heard that pollenpaddies are beetlefeed, but we dont have hive-beetles in sweden, so i cant experiment on it myself :P)
Edit: i made this comment before i watched your video from april 1st where you mentioned that u killed all the hivebeetles in the hive.
The hive beetle battle continues. I am pretty sure the Army and Navy hives in the back are ate up with them. I have seen a few flying around so I am pretty sure their season begins in the spring. So far the guardian entrances seem to be holding them off. We will see. Thanks for stopping in all the way from Sweden.
@@BugFarmerBees really hope those entrances works out for you!
I spend quite alot of time scouering youtube for bee content! :P, i did find a guy a while ago with a observationhive-project i found really nice to watch and i hope its okay that i share it here for you!

How do u make those entrances covers/ visors
Hi Michael. I print them on my 3D printer. If you have a 3D printer you can use my file to make some for yourself. Here is the link: www.tinkercad.com/things/3IP1B3HKQ3g
With those queens of yours you should change your video music to ZZ TOPS " Fat Bottom Girls "
That would be awesome but the royalty payment would bankrupt me. :-)

Where can I get plans?
I am sorry Matt, there are no plans (yet). I may make a more detailed build video when I build my last two bee barns.
Thanks!
can you estimate how many bees you have in one of the bee Barn?
A lot! :-). I really have no way to tell. Maybe this spring I will try to estimate during spring build up.
11:42 December 2022 I’m building one for my location and it will be with its own bear protection
That will be awesome. I would love to see your bear defenses. Send me a pic or two when you are finished I would love to show them on the channel.
How do i get a bee barn?
You build one :-). It isn't to difficult. Vino farms will release his build video soon. Here is a look at how I built mine : th-cam.com/video/j3uxw3oT-zc/w-d-xo.html
@@BugFarmerBees sadly, I have ZERO woodworking skills, and no tools. Guess I'll start considering the bees an annual rather than perrenial. Up side...all the honey is mine. Just replace bees each spring.
I hope you get a chance to watch my recent bee videos,,,, Feel free to comment my friend...
I saw you swarm trap video. Do you have another? I'll check it out after I finish answering my comments. Sorry I don't leave many comments, I watch TH-cam on the TV. But I'll watch yours on the computer in a couple of minutes. :-)
@@BugFarmerBees Thank you my friend
Mr. Bug farmer this is your neighbor El at 212 I need your help I have honey bees in my sofit and facia and active pest control won't help me. Are you available to come over and take a look and possibly remove them?
Let me know when you locate their colony, probably in the attic, and I'll see if I can box them up them for you.
@@BugFarmerBees okay I will thank you 😊
mombojombo bees having a good time..... pffff stops sound vibration.......
Hi Jacob. It's so nice to have you back. The sound dampening capabilities of the bee barn is spectacular and is reminiscent of what it might be like to live in a tree. The bees seem to really enjoy it.

Only flow hibe bees houses the best
The flow hive is a great hobbyist hive that will make it easy to harvest honey but the Bee Barn provides the perfect brood nest for the bees. I like them both very much.
don"t need to be so ademant we belive you...:)
There is not much that is as satisfying as being believed when sharing information that you truly believe in. I really appreciate you stopping in to have a look and sharing your time with me by way a leaving a comment. Thanks for being out there and helping me grow the channel. Take care.

Looks like a pointless pain the ass, not to mention a huge waste of time and material.
Thanks for sharing. I guess time will tell whether they were a worthwhile endevor. I can say that my back is very happy about the bee barn configuration. Thanks for stopping in and for taking time to comment. Take care.
Why did you quit building the bee barns and switched to the bee castles? Too labor intensive? Not everyone has the woodworking equipment to properly make a bee barn. IMHO, it's just a passing fad and no truly serious beekeeper will ever use the bee barns.
Time is always an issue for me and my building time is generally limited to the winter months. I do have the supplies in the shop for two more bee barns and hopefully will get to them in the fall.
I'm building my first bee barn of the 2.0 series modified to two deep frames for the brood chamber so frames will be a little bigger.
Awesome. That will make for a huge brood nest. I see lots of bees in your future :-)
