I just changed from iPhone 13 to S24Ultra. Firstly I intended to wait iPhone16. I do not want to look stupid like their advertisement. I've never seen Taxi like that in my life. 😅🤣😂 Low cost hotels price 300-500THB per night are even better than that. Elizabeth hotel they filmed is much better in the reality. The hotel is classic. Translator in advertisement do mistake. Travelling to Rayong is so easy. Almost all are opposite to the reality. Shame on advertisement team, may be they are Samsung staffs secretly? 🤣😅😂 Apple really made a huge mistake. Advertisement reflects their brain and vision. With love and support. Thank you both 🤟🤘❤❤

I think Apple just want to make it in comedy. Their characters are comedy and stupid. They just want to show their products can help those stupid people in difficult places and situations. However, Apple are not careful and think in all aspects that this will affect both themself and others. It is true that advertisement are always over the reality but the comedy in devaluing others and too much distort the reality is never a joke. This advertisement too much effects to Thailand so Thai people are upset. It's year 2024, devaluing others should stop.

As someone who has traveled to 9 countries, I feel like those countries are different from how they are depicted in US movies. I don't understand why, when the US makes movies about Asian countries, they often focus on stereotypes: Japan is associated with the Mafia, China with Communism, Vietnam with wars, and Thailand with chaos, food, beaches, and ladyboys. Asian countries have so much more to offer. I really appreciated how Google made their ads in Thailand last year; it was impressive. If Google were a US person, he would be open-minded, while Apple would be more narrow-minded.
After watching the ad., three of my girl friends went to sell their IPh and perchased the new Sumsung v.Olympic. So, that's how we feel about the ad. This is a good example that how to make a commercial ad to get million hates. I do believe their sells in Thailand will be freezed for a long time...
There is a Dutch saying that everything is OK when people are talking about you, it's not OK when you're no longer being talked about. The western media's negative portrayal of Thailand is not new. It's been that way for decades. But I think Thailand could turn the attentions around this ad into an opportunity for tourism. Let people come and see what real Thailand is like.

I agree re. Your comment about the add showcasing Thai hospitality. The other takeaway of that ad for me was how quickly Thai business was able to adapt and help out with an unexpected high quantity order. I thought the ad was amusing, colourful and covered different aspects of Thai culture (though not all). Also forwarded the ad (prior to it being removed) to some Thai friends, who had similar views 👍.
I am Thai and I am not going back to Apple products. The damage is huge. It can not be a mistake they have made such an ad. Their apologies are useless.

I admit that my country is not as developed as western countries. But now it does not look as outdated as in that advertisement. The atmosphere in the advertisement should be from the 70s. But in the context of the advertisement, they use iPhones. It should mean the present day. Taxis in that condition must go back almost 30 years to the last taxi in that condition in Thailand. I think it is normal for businesses to advertise how good their products are and how they are superior to their competitors. But business organizations should have and must have ethics. What is not appropriate is doing business by stepping on others to make yourself look good and superior. Even soldiers can respect their enemies. Everyone has equal honor. Putting others down to make yourself look superior is something that no one in this world should accept. So that every place in the world will be a good place to live for our children in the future.
It is almost impossible for Apple to not have information and current situation in Thailand. Because there is an Apple Store in Thailand. So it is not too difficult to find real information about the current environment in Thailand. Unless that is the need to communicate the image of Thailand in that way. It is like you are a merchant who slaps the customer in the face and tells him to buy his product. More than 25% of Thai people use iPhone. That means about 15-17 million people. As of 2022, Laos has a population of about 8 million. Apple customers in Thailand are twice the population of Laos. And those people switch to new models every time a new iPhone is released. That is almost every year.
I'm not sure if there are any Thai protein bar brands. But I think there are many Thai granola brands. But the most well-known brand is Diamond Grains. The owner of the brand is a young teenager who is also a TH-camr. She has her own songs that have gone viral.😊
I just discovered your channel a few days ago and I've been loving your videos! Even as a Thai, there are so many areas I haven't visited. And as someone who likes delicious food, it's especially interesting for me to see the food available in each place, so thank you! :D (This got so long, you can skip the whole thing if you need to and I won't mind at all lol so, feel free 😅) And thank you so much for talking about the Apple ad. I've lived abroad as student. And I can confidently say this kind of portrayal does damage and has effects on, like you said, the whole world, differently and on various degrees. To put it very simply, it really just promotes racism. The normalization of this behavior in the west, and imo to lesser degree but relevant nonetheless, the lack of care some Thai ppl seem to display when it comes to blatant disrespect and racism towards themselves such as this, are parts of the reason why Thai people are being unfairly looked down on all over. To speak on a more personal level, it is extremely hurtful and disheartening to realize that no matter how much I study, no matter hard I try, there will always be ppl looking down on me, saying I'm uneducated, uncivilized, lazy, dumb, shallow, or a cheater, all because of my nationality. It is ridiculous, how severe my self-esteem issue became living in the US as a high school student, all because some white American adults around me were always treating me like I needed sympathy, like I was unfortunate, like I knew nothing and had to be taught the way of the world by westerners or sth, when I didn't need any of that. If I seemed clueless or awkward, it was simply because I was an awkward 16 yr-old, not because I was from an undeveloped country or whatever they thought it was. It's also ridiculous how much that experience effected me, to the point that even when I was continuing my study in Japan, an Asian country, years after my experience in the US, I was still afraid of the same things happening, even though talking to my Japanese and other Asian friends over there, all wonderful ppl, I knew fully well we weren't that different. We even watched the same anime growing up, we played the same video game. I had no reason to be afraid of being looked down on by, idk, ppl, yet I was, because, it's not like they had any legit reason to be racist to me in the US either, but they were anyway. And western media, western portrayals of things, are seen by the whole world. So...u know. Anyway, yeah. I suppose I do have pretty strong opinion when it comes to these kinda things lol. I hope Apple will take this opportunity to think of a way to heal the lost feelings for Thai people next time because Apple products are always good for Thai people.
As a Thai person, I didn’t find the ad to be offensive. Just stupid really. They did move to a luxury hotel so I never thought that they were portraying Thailand as undeveloped. I just thought it made the business people look dumb, not knowing how to use their phones to check accommodation before booking it. And at the end the factory boss asks what’s wrong with the man and the response is “he’s American” or something to that effect so they kind of just made themselves look stupid really lol.
I have a slightly different view.❤😊 Thailand is incredibly diverse, full of charm, and has its unique quirks, fun and imperfections. It has been one of the top tourist destinations for many years, with over 20 million visitors each year. And those who visit Thailand don't come because of Skyscrapers or cool shopping malls for sure . It's like if we go to India, we would definitely want to see something other than the downtown or fancy places ❤😊
No fancy place and down to earth is ok but lack of security, bad poor airport that you may risk to lose your luggage at the airport, risk of food poisoning, poor accommodation to the point that traveler can’t sleep for many days, bad poor old car/van… (which all of these were portrayed in this Apple ad) are another story.

40:39 It’s chilly paste dipping! There are various flavours with different ingredients to try. In Thailand, people usually eat it with steamed rice to make the meal more flavourful. You can also dip it with vegetables. Some kind of chilly paste dipping can also be eaten with raw mango! So you can ask them for advice! Be careful the น้ำพริกตาแดง (Red Chilli Paste) and น้ำพริกนรก (Narok or Hell Chilli Paste), these two are very spicy🔥

The problem with those snackfoods is that they contain tons of preservatives and ingredients that you would not find in such snackfoods in North America. But that's OK. It taste good. I've been there and eaten some of those things.

Their Ad is definetely embarrasing, not for Thais & our country but Apple themselves, to be honest. The Taxi part (which even not an actual Thai taxi), the lost baggage part, the transportation part & especially the hotel one! There’re plenty of 5-6 stars hotels with an impeccable service here nowadays. :)

Might not show the newer shinier toys but that is exactly the Thailand I grew up in 20 years ago and I loved it that way...wish I could go back in time, honestly! Good quality durian chips are so addictive, once you eat it, you cannot stop! However, it doesn’t have durian’s smell though, just only its creaminess that makes it unstoppable to eat.

The commercial was a parody, and as such I think that the people who envisioned it did not realize that there are things that reinforces negative stereotypes of Thailand. I did take some positives from the commercial, Thailand was the only place that could fulfill thee order in time, the Thai man went out of his way to help and find another company, and the modern last company. To reinforce its parody was the fact that the company owner who placed the order wanted his large picture on a box of cat litter. Samsung also did a very similar commercial that no one is really talking about though, I wonder why.

I agree re. Your comment about the add showcasing Thai hospitality. The other takeaway of that ad for me was how quickly Thai business was able to adapt and help out with an unexpected high quantity order. I thought the ad was amusing, colourful and covered different aspects of Thai culture (though not all). Also forwarded the ad (prior to it being removed) to some Thai friends, who had similar views 👍.

I admit that my country is not as developed as western countries. But now it does not look as outdated as in that advertisement. The atmosphere in the advertisement should be from the 70s. But in the context of the advertisement, they use iPhones. It should mean the present day. Taxis in that condition must go back almost 30 years to the last taxi in that condition in Thailand. I think it is normal for businesses to advertise how good their products are and how they are superior to their competitors. But business organizations should have and must have ethics. What is not appropriate is doing business by stepping on others to make yourself look good and superior. Even soldiers can respect their enemies. Everyone has equal honor. Putting others down to make yourself look superior is something that no one in this world should accept. So that every place in the world will be a good place to live for our children in the future.
It is almost impossible for Apple to not have information and current situation in Thailand. Because there is an Apple Store in Thailand. So it is not too difficult to find real information about the current environment in Thailand. Unless that is the need to communicate the image of Thailand in that way. It is like you are a merchant who slaps the customer in the face and tells him to buy his product. More than 25% of Thai people use iPhone. That means about 15-17 million people. As of 2022, Laos has a population of about 8 million. Apple customers in Thailand are twice the population of Laos. And those people switch to new models every time a new iPhone is released. That is almost every year.
I'm not sure if there are any Thai protein bar brands. But I think there are many Thai granola brands. But the most well-known brand is Diamond Grains. The owner of the brand is a young teenager who is also a TH-camr. She has her own songs that have gone viral.😊

And thank you so much for talking about the Apple ad. I've lived abroad as student. And I can confidently say this kind of portrayal does damage and has effects on, like you said, the whole world, differently and on various degrees. To put it very simply, it really just promotes racism. The normalization of this behavior in the west, and imo to lesser degree but relevant nonetheless, the lack of care some Thai ppl seem to display when it comes to blatant disrespect and racism towards themselves such as this, are parts of the reason why Thai people are being unfairly looked down on all over.
To speak on a more personal level, it is extremely hurtful and disheartening to realize that no matter how much I study, no matter hard I try, there will always be ppl looking down on me, saying I'm uneducated, uncivilized, lazy, dumb, shallow, or a cheater, all because of my nationality. It is ridiculous, how severe my self-esteem issue became living in the US as a high school student, all because some white American adults around me were always treating me like I needed sympathy, like I was unfortunate, like I knew nothing and had to be taught the way of the world by westerners or sth, when I didn't need any of that. If I seemed clueless or awkward, it was simply because I was an awkward 16 yr-old, not because I was from an undeveloped country or whatever they thought it was.
It's also ridiculous how much that experience effected me, to the point that even when I was continuing my study in Japan, an Asian country, years after my experience in the US, I was still afraid of the same things happening, even though talking to my Japanese and other Asian friends over there, all wonderful ppl, I knew fully well we weren't that different. We even watched the same anime growing up, we played the same video game. I had no reason to be afraid of being looked down on by, idk, ppl, yet I was, because, it's not like they had any legit reason to be racist to me in the US either, but they were anyway. And western media, western portrayals of things, are seen by the whole world. So...u know.
Anyway, yeah. I suppose I do have pretty strong opinion when it comes to these kinda things lol. This got a lot longer than I thought it would and I don't really know how to shorten it, so I apologize 😅 And again, thank you for speaking about the topic! And thank you for your videos!

It really does promote racism. It’s a very fine line but it does. This ad is just ignorant and how they portray Asians in general. As a Thai person, I didn’t find the ad to be offensive. Just stupid really. They did move to a luxury hotel so I never thought that they were portraying Thailand as undeveloped. I just thought it made the business people look dumb, not knowing how to use their phones to check accommodation before booking it. And at the end the factory boss asks what’s wrong with the man and the response is “he’s American” or something to that effect so they kind of just made themselves look stupid really lol.
Last part indeed was stupid. They were probably trying to be funny but already rubbed the people the wrong way so it wasn’t funny. 😮💨

Thank you for your vlog & POV. 💙 As a Thai royal customer (since iMac computer ‘2000 to all their latest gadgets..is extremely disappointing). Their Ad is definetely embarrasing, not for Thais & our country but Apple themselves, to be honest. It totally shows ignorance & some intentions that may cause people who’ve never been to Thailand (lately) can be misleaded. The Taxi part (which even not an actual Thai taxi), the lost baggage part, the transportation part & especially the hotel one! There’re plenty of 5-6 stars hotels with an impeccable service here nowadays. :)

I'm really disappointed with Apple's ad. They created advertising scenes to make Thailand look backward and awkward, which is not true!!! They don't respect us and made up lies to promote their own products, so how dare we believe that their products are as good as they claim? Btw, I wanna thank both of you to share your opinion abt how nice Thailand is. ❤🙏

I don't know why people are making such a big fuss of the ad really. Might not show the newer shinier toys but that is exactly the Thailand I grew up in 20 years ago and I loved it that way...wish I could go back in time, honestly! Efficient, competitive factories, great quality, excellent service and boat rides, tuk tuks and public buses were all part of the journey!! Infact that unique Thai character is what makes Thailand, Thailand

Good quality durian chips are so addictive, once you eat it, you cannot stop! However, it doesn’t have durian’s smell though, just only its creaminess that makes it unstoppable to eat.
I would have to agree! It does get rather addicting as you keep eating it. I’m just glad the bag wasn’t that big 😅

The commercial was a parody, and as such I think that the people who envisioned it did not realize that there are things that reinforces negative stereotypes of Thailand. I did take some positives from the commercial, Thailand was the only place that could fulfill thee order in time, the Thai man went out of his way to help and find another company, and the modern last company. To reinforce its parody was the fact that the company owner who placed the order wanted his large picture on a box of cat litter. Samsung also did a very similar commercial that no one is really talking about though, I wonder why.
