- Hello and welcome to another video! After months of anticipation and hard work, I'm excited to share an extraordinary moment in my wildlife photography journey. In this video, I finally get to photograph the elusive badger in full daylight using my Nikon Z9 and Z400mm f2.8 lens.
Come along as I recount the adventure:

Incredible animals. What stands out for me in this video is the work you have put in to studying them. Seeing badgers like this doesn't happen by accident, unless you are very lucky. Nice one Dan , obviously loved this one as the badgers are special to me, it wasn't just the wonderful captures and footage but also the long term surveillance and great stories, as I've mentioned previously they have been visiting the garden for some 5 years ,they still come even if we were away for a couple of weeks, so even if we're in France I could still keep an eye on them. Cracking video as usual. Hope viewers appreciate the many hours of work you will have put in to being able to get this. As you say, a lot of time goes into knowing your subject and habits. Together with scouting and researching a location it's probably 90% or more of the work so have enormous respect for your dedication and commitment. Beautiful video Dan...only those of us who make theses wildlife videos know the time (months !!) it can take to produce a 15 mins video but your enthusiasm shines through...I'm currently working on a Fox project that started 18months ago and wish I'd filmed it now as your videos making me envious !! :-). Got myself a 3D camo suit but not used it yet !! Hope Pops doing well

Magnificent! I don't mind admitting I'm a bit envious now. I've just convinced myself I need a mirrorless camera. My 1D has the loudest shutter release mechanism in the southern hemisphere. Those badgers would be straight back down the hole the first time I touched the shutter release button! 👍
My 1dx 2is good for one burst … usually they look at you tho….and then their gone forever…we got a r3 problem solved 👍

They certainly do 👍🏻
I used to have the exact same problem with my D500, the first burst and they were off. Now I get so many more opportunities working in silence.

P.S: The photos without flash are much better.
Yes I watched her video. As I stated in the beginning of the video I know camouflage is not essential but I definitely think it gets you some very close encounters and essentially allows me to repeatedly visit this set without any disturbance 👍🏻
Our Dutch badgers even see me in camo. Very shy over here, often emerge after 10 p.m.
