I will say a million thanks to the thoughtful of a business man who's profession is a jewelry industry. The thought itself says he does respect women's, must hv seen the hard days and felt the pain or agony a women going through. May be certain aspect doesn't goes beyond explanation. But the thought is important. Thanks P. C. JEWELLERS. Everyday is a women's day.
Clara Zetkin came up with the March 8 not for flowers and gifts. She called on "conscious proletarian women" to give love to the "conscious" workers. Fought for the rights of women. The Internet will help.
Omg. This is exactly what I thought this year. I'm usually very passionate about Women's Day and organised big bellydance events around it. But I started to feel it's joke to even have something called Women's Day. One day devoted to us women. What does even mean? Such a farce. And celebrating it feel like we in fact reiterating we are ok with this. But I thought these thoughts were weird. I looked up famous feminists and saw they too were celebrating it. And I kept my thoughts to me. This is a super POWERFUL message. Thanks for bringing this up. It's sooo important. 💓
xactlyy!! you've given all the reasons why we need a women's day! a day to reflect on the way the chauvinistic society works...even when a person goes on social network just to type the words 'Happy Women's Day!' even if for a moment there is an acknowledgement of the fact that feminism needs to be celebrated...and somewhere that is the first step towards a better tommorow
Let's know the history before saying uncelebrate: Summary 1. 1908 - garment workers' strike in New York, where women first protested against working conditions. 2. 1910 - meeting to honour the movement for women's rights and support women's right to vote 3. 1911 - rally for right to vote and to hold public office, women's rights to work 4. 1913-14 - women held rallies to protest the world war 1 5. 1917 - strike for "Bread and Peace" 6. 1975 - The United Nations began celebrating International Women's Day on 8 March. It's a day worth celebrating bcoz it shows women's power, their conquering spirit. Hope, pc Chandra jewellers knew it before shooting this ad.
We don't need a day to show our power and capability we show it everyday in form of sacrifices that we do. I know the things that you mentioned are right but we still need equality on basic things like the ones mentioned in the video. And what is the point of celebrating if we are doing so just because of society or from the next day all is back to being just like before. We should and we will celebrate but not on just on day, every day. We will once certain things in this society changes, once everything is equal.
The things that you mentioned were in 1900s but now it is 2020 things have changed. Example- when boys work late night or overnight w say that he is hardworking and has to work because of the responsibility of house, while a girl works we ask her why do you have to stay at night what kind of work is there? A single mother is discriminated in society while a single father is not. If there is a divorce why is it said that the girl has attitude or she must not be handling things in a right way Why a girl having only male friends is abused while if a boy is having many female friends is either appreciated or there are no comments? This are the things that we need to change if you really want to celebrate women's day do it in present not in past, do it fully not partially, do it everyday not just one day and most importantly do it because you want to, you feel obliged to them, do it because you are grateful, not because UN has declared or society celebrates it.
Agree with and can relate to all the biases being pointed out in the video. And yes, we do live in a patriarch society. But to uncelebrate women's day would just be to undermine all the efforts made by reformers all around the world who have, for many many years, been striving for a gender equitable society. Uncelebrating would mean that we do not acknowledge that the efforts of these reformers, known and unknown, have made the world more gender equal than it was say 75 years ago. Just think about the opportunities that girls have today compared to our grandmothers! We should definitely set aside a day to reflect on how far we have come and also how far we need to go to be a gender equitable society. I do think we should do away with these proxy celebrations with freebies and roses and gifts!! We don't need to tend to the business needs of these commodity suppliers! But let us make sure we celebrate - in a thoughtful way - where we thank all the men and women who have worked towards gender equity and we take concrete steps in our daily lives to work towards the same.
I agree with all that has been said in the video... but just a small clarification. Women's day had started in 1909 by Theresa Malkiel. This event was followed in 1910 when international women's conference was organised in copenhagen.
As this video have a good point of view but Have men ever tried to do the works of a girl? Then why the heck the girls are always there to do works of a boy? A boy's part of work is to earn money for buying the food to feed the family and the girls part of work is to cook and make it able to eat Both are equally important as well as hard. Girls always tries to copy boys, they wear clothings like them, they do haircut like them, they are always willing to do works of them (office job) Because the main problem is in their thinking that their work doesn't have any value, it's very boring and uneasy and so on.. It is the fault of Indian parents completely, when a girl child borns, the parents says -"So what if we didn'tgot a son , my daughter will do a son's work" The thinking is wrong. but they never say "luckilywe got a son, he will do a girls work". In india, government always reserves seats for single girl child but not for single boy child ,, why??. Do boys don't have blood, bones , muscles, nerves ? Or girls are made with cotton? A boy ,however, sometimes needs to do works of a girl, vice versa, sometimes a girl needs to do sort of work of a boy as well. But , doing sorts of things like boys and underestimating own works and responsibilities is now a trending fashion in India. Like who ever agrees
And also Remove "Ladies reserved seats" from buses and metros and make them seats for "senior citizen and handicapped" totally supporting Gender equality.
Women are abused on buses by men in some areas of the world like India . This is why they need to be separated. Because some men still think women are objects.
pbirhanda Then you shoud standup and protest against the abuse by excersing your Human Rights instead of running away by being seperated. The abusers need to be seperated not the victims. Your way will only encourage the abusers.
Until abusers start controlling their impulses and be accountable they will continue to abuse. It is possible to protect women and stand up for themselves at the same time. The act of separation is a choice . Abusers will not make a choice to separate themselves let alone stop abusing. A women’s choice is power and control.
There is a difference between equal treatment and identical treatment. What you are asking for is identical treatment, what we want is equal treatment.
The title of the video is wrong. It goes through all the reasons why need to celebrate this day, but concludes otherwise. Agree it is not needed for 'evolved' women. But it is very important for the younger generation and also for the less fortunate and less evolved in the society to have a day to celebrate accomplishments. We need this day very badly in India where large sections of women are silenced. The younger generation still grows up not endorsing open attitudes not knowing how to push the envelop and evolve. This day should be used to show how evolved women are 'giving back' due their whether through girls in the family or neighbourhood or at a workplace. P.C. Chandra should create a video of such leadership stories.. Let me tell you everyone will learn and gain from that not just women!
okay if any of the creators/actors is reading my comment then listen closely. The problems that you just spoke about are first world problems. They do not fit in our society because we have much more serious problems than that. Our parents didn't deck us up with blue/pink (they hardly know the concept). As for me I grew up to be really really fond of the colour pink and I loved to play with"khelna Bati" a lot not because someone had forced me to but because most of us girls have the natural instinct to create beautiful things like food. Also as a child I used to clean up our house not because someone had told me to but because I naturally had the intent towards making my room tidy. Instead of adopting a western point of view of feminism we as Indians should really focus on REAL PROBLEMS that our society has like FEMALE FOETICIDE, MATERNAL DEATHS, and above all RAPE of the poor and helpless girls including infants and physically handicapped. I would have been happier if these problems were addressed. I think these kind of videos are just misleading and misguiding youths.
Agreed..nature itself has decided to make some diferences betwwen men and women..and in the name of celebrating womens day some elite class women will prepare lectures and will go fr shopping to take part on women's day especial programmes..however, nobody will actually care fr the real problems..
S R agreed. In fact girls love pink I mean any girl who wud really wanna deck up in blues? Above that most women r passionate for cooking but the top chefs globally majority are males. So surely where did that come from... And where did this come from that mother is banned in a son's wedding ??? Seriously !!! Which country does this happen in pls enlighten me ? I'm proud of celebrating women's day .. mothers day ... fathers day.... daughters day son's day.... Cause they don give discrimination.... rather they give me some time in busy schedule to pause n utilize this one day to make few ppl feel special which probably we are not able to do in regular routine. So chill girls and enjoy this day instead of taking these unwanted headaches
The reason these big issues exist is that foundational , systemic, “trivial” misogyny exist to allow the belief that women are not equal. Small victories go a long way.
Using your Mother's surname is basically using your maternal grandfather's surname . That makes no sense at all . It's like giving up a man's surname for another man's surname .
Well I have a say for the comments on kids getting fathers last name and kanyadaan. You asked if there's a logic behind? Yes there is...please consult a bio scientist and scientific articles which mentioned a women's genetic makeup changes being with a man for several years and especially after bearing his child. So kanyadaan does make a sense and possessing lastname of dad also makes sense
Yes, actually so. To celebrate Women's day too is God's design, errr...men's design, to nullify the presence and power of women in the society or life for that matter, or to nullify her everyday celebrations. Well, let's uncelebrate. 👍
Its good that these issues exist, else what else would these women blabber about? Very frequently it seems they are desperate for these issues to exist, else who will give importance to them and listen to their blabbering?
A girl's work is not in kitchen....they know how to cook traditionally... A 'why' in this is illogical... And about that remote control car and crockery stuff it comes from a "psychology" that men are fond of gadgets and women of "cooking" .... A "why" in this is also illogical... Now you will say "why men don't wear sarees though women wear shirts " or "why there is a separate compartment in trains for women" or "why the seats are reserved in a bus for women?" " Why there is no fee in case of a job application for a women" " why there is a reservation in every aspect for women" these are not the facilities but the respect towards the traditional respect towards women...in this video women seems to be the enemy of women...women should also respect women ... So celebrate the day... # respect woman and their work towards our society... Don't uncelebrate... It is not the education... Education is to respect women.. " Kuch BHI video Dal dete ho Yaar"...!
Well, since women’s day and any celebration is a celebration of the POSITIVE reasons for which the event was created, this video’s messaging clearly illustrates how misinformed these women are. We must focus on how far we’ve come, although in some areas of the world it still feels like we’re at the bottom of the mountain. The reason for inequality and abuse is because women were not and have not been celebrated in all their glory for a very long time. Our efforts are not in vain. The west (although still swimming in inequality) began where you are now.
These are some miserable women sharing their pain with society. I think if men sharing their pain and contributions to their society, the youtube servers will crash. If you don't like your society then live alone, nobody is forcing you to do anything.
Why do u even need it if u need the world free of gender bias Instead celebrate humanity day or GENDER FREE DAY NO WOMEN'S DAY NO MEN'S DAY NO SON DAUGHTER GRANDPA GRANDMA WIFE HUSBAND DAYS

Durba Mitra ... thank you. It can be hard to see the light when surrounded by darkness.
+pbirhanda I know right...we just need to keep hoping
Happy Womens' Day Didi!
Why is there reserved seat in metro and railways for womens only.....why there is reserved quota in government exams for womens only.....??
Because women are sexually abused on these trains and are not afforded equal opportunity for education.
Superb brother🙏🏻🙏🏻 well said

I doubt if any of these warrior women will spare one second for the poor and deprived women in society. Abusing men is easy and glamorous.

Why are all these bengali women speaking in english?
Even though we are bengalis, English is a part of our culture thanks to our colonisers. :) Break the barrier.
because English represents "class" lol
