Hey, THANKS! MegaB. The way this works is that the onboard computer that controls the fan relay RESETS after you unplug as you did, wait thirty seconds, plug back in. NO ONE ELSE I could find pointed to this. Good job. Thank you.
This trick didn't work on my 2008 2008 Lincoln Town car I must have a different issue. My fan works with a jumper wire straight to battery but will not come on without a jumper wire.. thanks for taking the time to make the video. I'm sure it's helped many people.. cheers
thanks bud...i deliver pizzas for a job. left my car run while i ran a pizza up to somebody...came back and my temp guage was hot. im pretty sure the fan stopped for awhile. thanks again
I tried it after watching the video. It worked for me. Engine still getting hot on my 98 grandmarque. Only when i drive local. Im good on the highway though. Water pump good new thermostat too. I guess ill get a new radiator cap. Ive never replaced it... Thanks bro. Its way better than before.
Dude you are freaking awesome i have a 08 marquis that had that same problem I really went outside a 12:30 am to see if it would work and it did .....thanks man
Did you have issues after you tried this method? It can’t be a permanent fix right? I’m struggling with this issue with same car. Mercury Grand Marquis 08
thanks bro. wish i saw this vid before i bought and replaced damn near everything except for anything with the fan and the water pump. did your test and it turned on then turned off. again thanks so much for the vid!
You may need a new Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor which is what you are unplugging. You can test it by checking the resistance across sensor at the plug terminals. It should be about 2.7 k ohms at 194 F (operating temperature) and about 36 k ohms at 68F.
so this worked for me but what is wrong with the car? I replaced the thermostat, ect sensor, and wiring still have code P0118 would it be something with the radiator?
I have an 05 crown Vic. About every 5 to 6 months it starts over heating and I have to take the relay out and clean it. I also take the fuses out and clean them too and it fixes it every time until 5 or 6 months later
Can you please tell me the number for the cooling fan relay I’m trying to see if that’s why my fan isn’t working I have replaced the temp sensor and thermostat and my fan works
Hey MegaBobson123 how you doing do you fix that heating problem with the Crown Victoria I wonder I use your tip on my 1998 CV thanks please let me know if you corrected thanks bye
Hey did you ever figure it out I done change the fan and module water pump thermostat intake and manifolds my fan is only come on when disconnect the engine cylinder head temperature sensor I put a new one and nothing same thing. Can you help a brother out
Disconnect the fan connector and look inside both sides for melted plastic. Those connectors are known problem makers. Likely your real issue. Unplugging the CHT is a good cool down fix for this issue.
My fan kept going out had to buy three of them cause they kept burning out. Now I have a extra wire going straight to the batter with a fuse. But I wanna get it the right way. Anyone got any suggestions?
U thing that's what it is in my car cuz my fans kicked in every time I start the car and they don't go on high-speed and when I put the AC in the car overheating but if I don't put the AC on the car runs fine but it runs with fans on all the time
@@jonnyvargas9394 I have a similar issue, I have a 99 Ford C.V.P.I. and the A/C system is cycling the A/C compressor clutch on and off in addition to the radiator fan not coming on to help cool the engine which causes it to overheat when the A/C is running. It will run all day long with the A/C off and the radiator fan will kick on when it needs to. However I don't want to run without any A/C where I live (I live in Las Vegas NV and it gets hot here) I replaced the compressor, condenser, accumulator, and orifice plug, and the cooling fan itself. I have the A/C high pressure lines ready to go in as well as the cooling fan motor connector AND the A/C compressor clutch connector. At this point I have only the low side lines and the evaporator to replace on my A/C system.
Thanks for the great video. I have the same problem with over heating in idle. Now we know the problem I don't think u mentioned what the solution is. Can u please tell me what I need to replace. Cheers!!!!
Fan on your car is a multi speed fan ,low when driving and high when ac turns on and when temp rises up. There must be a short in the signal wire some where . Please leave feed back on this problem
So I took my fan out an plugged it back up with the fan laying on top on the engine an it worked but it back in an now it don't turn on with am I doing wrong
New cars are garbage. Get a normal car with a fan that is always turning with the water pump. These stupid cars are more complicated than the Space Shuttle.
2005 police crown vic ---- BRO I NEED HELP! been having overheating issues & replaced everything in the system. NOT overheating anymore but the radiator fan goes to high after only 5 mins of running. stays on high fan until shut off. replaced the radiator, water pump, CT sensor, HT sensor, thermostat (160), fresh coolant after 3 flushes. used a laser temp tool & highest reading on cyl or anywhere, is only 160 degrees. fan will be on HIGH with that LOW temp. CANT FIGURE IT OUT & NEED TO SELL!.
wwwoooo fords have a little known fan motor issue. just because it works which it will. does not mean the fan motor is good. you need to do an amp test on the motor ford motors start over drawing amps when they get old. if you replace the fan module replace the motor period.
My fan only runs when the AC is engaged. If it's running with the AC on and I shut the AC off the fan continues to run, but if I shut the car off and turn it on without the AC on the fan will never kick on unless I turn on the AC
Really? No way. So you disconnect the thermostat connector(really coolant temp sensor) and it works? How? Think! You are giving the pcm no signal so it thinks the engine is ice cold? Right. When does the PCM turn the fan on? Ok. Think now. Didn't work on mine. Nice skit for SNL OMG.

So once i plug it back in will my fan stay on and will my thermo work properly

That means you have a wiring issue.
Fan Control Module
thanks bud...i deliver pizzas for a job. left my car run while i ran a pizza up to somebody...came back and my temp guage was hot. im pretty sure the fan stopped for awhile. thanks again
Helped pinpoint my issue to a faulty fan motor.

did you ever find the fix? I have the same problem on my 98 Vic, replaced ect sensor, thermostat, and wiring
You the man! 👊🤘 worked like a charm in my 2004 Lincoln town car!
It's' BEST TO REPLACE THE WHOLE UNIT. A C. FAN ASSEMBLE! DORMAN MAKES A GREAT ONE. COMPLETE WITH MODULE

Yup saved me money . I didn't need to replace all of that just bought a new relay
@@j.s3612you know how to test a relay?
I was able to see if my fan was working or not. Thanks for the tip!
It worked!!! found this out after I bought new everything

Yo thank you...you saved my ass on the side of the road
Your welcome. Im just glad I can help someone. Stay safe.
Good thinking. Appreciate the tip
Work for me to but did you find the actual issue would like to know what is was so I can fix on my car
It’s called a Coolant temp sensor. Not a thermostat
Thanks for the info I appreciate it.
thanks. it helps with alot of troubleshooting
If this happens to your crown vic, replace the #17 30AMP MAXI FUSE for the cooling fab relay. This solved the issue for me
Dear Lord In Heaven, WHY didn't I see this GREAT YT before I installed that NEW fan assembly 😂😂😆😆 thank you sir,
Don’t knock it until you try it. It worked for me appreciate that highly
What kinda of do you have

Did u ever check ur relays
How will u b alert if the motor gets too hot say 6 months down the road? Dashboard red warning light works for engine too hot?

So what if you disconnect the thermostat wire and your fans still don't engage then what

I ended up hooking my fan to a switch. Now I can turn it on when I want. I don't know wtf was going on but it's something to do with the computer.

Fan Control Module
@@caroleatkins6012 you are correct. I replaced it and it's working fine now. Thank you!
to test the fan is to start with a cool engine then turn the a/c to max. the engine fan works but it doesnt tell you if the fan is working correctly.
Where exactly is that conector at?
Engine coolant temperature sensor, gotta take the alternator off to get to it.. it’s a 19mm

Try bending the wires one way or the other. Possible when you had it out it was bent in a way to make a good connection but installed it does not.
Man!!! Thanks bruh!

Be honest does the engine run shitty after unplugging it?😂

Check your relay
My a/c got straight hot and won't budge but my cooling fans won't come on
Bro same I thought it was my ac that went out
Where you able to pinpoint the cause
Pcm issue
Fix
Or
Repair
Daily
There's a fuse for the cooling fan in the owner's manual
So the car can run with no problem I did that to my crown victoria and it quickly turned on
I'm bout to post a new vid about this right now bc I've learned some new info. Stand by...
When I did this my fan still was not coming on
The module on the fan is obviously trash so needs replaced.
Didnt Work For Me My Fan Shacking I Might Need Anothet Fan🤷
My my fan turn on everytime I turn my car I want 2 turn them off
Going to waste more gas
So it can be the thermostat that's bad
My problem is my fan staying on
My car is doing the same problem the plug that you just disconnect is a temperature sensor it's not good doing it that way cuz your car is
Yea I plugged it back it runs great now fan turns on like its supposed to. Thats the thing with these cars they just fix themselves sometimes
Because mine's run are all the time and they don't supposed to do that cuz they supposed turn on when you put the AC on right
So pretty much they stay on one speede so when I use the AC for a long time the high-speed don't kik end so so my car gets overheat
MegaBobson123 as a town car owner that’s true lol these cars were made to be driven
A/c on or off no change
My fan only runs when the AC is engaged. If it's running with the AC on and I shut the AC off the fan continues to run, but if I shut the car off and turn it on without the AC on the fan will never kick on unless I turn on the AC
Dude that sounds like absolute garbage
