  • The first episode from a recent visit to Germany. I spent a short time on the public footpath between the east end of the station and the Hohenzollern bridge over the Rhine. The movement is almost constant. Unfortunately train running was severely dusrupted so I am unable to identify some of the workings. In further episodes I will look at the station, the trains, and the history of the railways in Cologne in more detail.

There will be quite a few more videos from my ten days in Germany over the next few months. It was a fantastic trip.

ICE trains are so beautiful, they look fast even when standing still.

It may be that the Frankfurt workings are disrupted because of diversions in place south of Frankfurt direction Mannheim. They are speding 3 months renewing the track between the two cities before the Euros start.

Thanks for adding this information. Trains from the south certainly seemed worst affected but arrivals from the north were also quite haphazard.

Is there a membership for your channel? I found a video of yours when you were at south croydon but it said it was members only

I'm playing with some of the settings on TH-cam to try to understand how they work. I had previously withdrawn some of my older videos as they are over long. I changed them to membership last week. I think you can sign up to membership for free. I don't intend to take any money. Can you see if you can work out how to do it and let me know. Thanks.

UIC is the Union International de Chemins de Fer. I suggest you ask Wikipedia about what they do. I'll cover the German infrastructure in further videos.
